Veronica Mars Season 3 - Page 20

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

I can't tell you how much it sickens me that shows suffer simply because of their names, and often times the title of a show scares people into completely ignoring them.

I'm referring not only to the general public but to award shows as well, shows that are supposed to recognize great shows and great performances, I stopped watching all award shows, including the Academy awards, when Keri Russell won a Golden Globe for Felicity over Sarah Michelle Gellar when SMG was turning in great performances week after week on Buffy.

It was the the title of the show that prevented her from winning, or even being nominated, and no one will ever convince me otherwise, that's when it hit me like a ton of bricks...award shows are full of shit and I haven't watched a single one since.

Sorry for the rant, just one of my hot buttons, a show should be judged by it's content and quality not by it's name.

Yep. At another forum, people were talking about shows they liked, and I mentioned VM. This really digusted one guy. "Yeah, have fun watching that!" He went on to imply I should grow a pair. And, he soon admitted he had never even heard of the show until he read my post.

I got quite a few responses that were similar to that when I started a thread about Veronica Mars on my Toyota 4x4 message board just before season 3 started. Apparently people who know absolutely nothing about the show think it's some sort of show for teenaged girls.

I'm looking forward to the show finally returning this week. I really hope that The CW buys into the ideas that are being pitched for a possible 4th season and that we hear about it soon.

The show for teenaged girls who want to know all about the shocker and the Dirty Sanchez.

Is it? Crap!

Edit - double crap! Piz finally gets back on the show too!

Has the official word on the future of this show come down yet?

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

Piz was back. Man was he ever back.

Keith was the man tonight.

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

It was okay. But it really loses something for me without the continuing arc. As a huge fan of 'Pulp Fiction' I have to say that scene felt a little off to me. Like the writers tried to force it into the script or something. I don't know.

So are he and Veronica an item now?

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

the restaurant plot seemed a little too 'afterschool special' to me. Plus it only consumed 3/4 of the time in last night's episode. I really hope the remaining episodes don't follow this structure, because I can live w/o the amount of time that they gave to Veronica's love life.

I'm also missing the longer mystery plot...though something will be happening w/ Keith i'm assuming. They're setting up something there...

I believe the CW network upfront is May 16.

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

Sub-par episode but still entertaining.

Max (to Mac): okay, seriously...did my friends hire you?

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

I guess they're going to have Mac ditch the pretty boy soon and hook up with the Yang to her Yin.

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

I enjoyed this episode. But agree the mystery-arc is being missed.

I like how Mac and Logan were recalling their high school days, and refrencing She's All That and I know What You Did Last Summer.

I'm finding I don't miss the season arc as much as others; I'm happy to have the character interaction and dialogue with the smaller mysteries.

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

If all these great characters are to be left behind...damn I hope that doesn't happen.

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

I'll take the retooling, but I did realize last night how underused Wallace has been.

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

I enjoyed the episode. Great dialogue and much better than the last arc.
Way to go Piz.
Logan who?

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

Really enjoied the episode - there have been plenty of episodes like this over the show where there was a minimal focus on the arc of the season, and it was more about the case of the week.

Plus, the interaction of the characters is an arc of it's own, just not a mystery type arc.

And it's probably because I started with seson 3, but I've always wanted Piz and Veronica to be together, so I had to watch the end of this one 3 times, screaming with excitment!

as soon as I saw that shot with the elevator, I knew who'd be on the other side...

two weeks til we know for sure if season 4 is happening - Gilmore Girls is definately done so we'll see what that means for VM

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

Did anyone think that the preview for next week was almost comical in... Man, I don't know what. Having no idea what the strength of a given episode or series is? Trying to make something unique look generic? Completely underselling a guest star that could be a lot of fun?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
To sum up: "OMG Veronica and Piz kissed and then Logan was right there and it was, like, so uncomfortable and I can't believe that happened and it just. changes. EVERYTHING!!!

"Oh, and Paul Rudd."

Granted, I've seen a lot of the guy over the past couple weeks (a combination of previews and film festival meant I got hit with Diggers, The Ten, and Knocked Up in rapid succession), but a little more enthusiasm for the guy and a little less trying to make Veronica look like One Tree Hill couldn't hurt.

Man, we really watch this show for different reasons. I agree that character interaction and relationships can be an arc of it's own, but that high school stuff isn't what made Veronica Mars a great show the first two seasons.

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

I wouldn't say I watch it for "High School Stuff" I enjoy seeing her be a detective immensely - but my point is that its *her* I like seeing do it. I don't really watch mystery shows or procedurals - its the characters that make VM good. VM Herself above all.

Just seeing Kristen Bell's performance in the last minutes of the last episode, how she reacted to Piz, and you see her putting together everything with him, and going after him like that, that was a great character moment for her as a woman, I suppose.

just as thrilling as any solving of a mystery. If the last few minutes didn't do anything for you I'm surprised you're still tuning in to the show. I started this year, but I've been back and seen every episode, so I beleive I'm liking more than just the HS thing, because I don't watch OC or One Tree Hill or any of those, Smallville being the closest to that sort of show (and it's much more that type of show than VM ever was IMO)

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

even if VM comes back, Piz won't. He's going to be on the Grey's Anatomy spinoff, if you watched last Thursday's episode (the setup for the Kate Walsh spinoff), you'll notice he was there

Neither will Parker. She's supposedly in a new pilot as well.

While the Grey's Anatomy spinoff is a sure thing, nothing else is. There is always the possibility that this pilot won't get picked up and even if it does it might have a quick death. (And for that matter, cast changes can always take place after pilot. Even with the Grey's Anatomy thing, not all the characters in the backdoor pilot will be in the new show. For example, NCIS had a backdoor pilot on JAG and one of the leads was not on NCIS).

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3

I also remember Rebecca DeMornay not making it over to Boston Legal. I just like Piz better than Logan. If we lose him then I'll live.

If they do the FBI thing we'll likely lose everyone but VM, though I hope Keith stays more than anyone else.
