Automatic thread subscriptions?

I noticed again today when I tried to subscribe to a thread that I was automatically subscribed to all threads that I've posted in. Is there any way to disable this so that I only have subscriptions for threads where I've explicitly asked to be subscribed?

Chris:

You had your option for thread subscriptions set for instant email notication for all subscribed threads. I set this to default to none and this way you can select which thread you want to subscribe to each time and how you want to be notified. As you had it set by default you were subscribed automatically. See if my changing the default for you fixes this.

Ah, I see where my mistake was. I thought the option was for the default notification mode for threads you're already subscribed to and for new subscriptions, and not for automatically creating subs. Reading the description in the first place would have helped
