Fearless Vampire Killers (1967)?

I am definitely a fan of the recent stuff, as I have not seen a lot of the older stuff...

1) The Hunchback of Notre Dame
2) Beauty and the Beast
3) Aladdin

I rarely see anyone like my Number 1, but it is my favorite.

An interesting question...see any similiarities?

Dumbo and Pinocchio top my list. As for ranking the rest, it's been a while, so I'd have to see them again.

A while back I did a Disney films tournament here. Interestingly, nobody has yet mentioned the eventual winner of that tourney as one of their favourites--Sleeping Beauty. I always knew that result was bogus.

I was thinking the same thing. I read these first few posts and was absolutely shocked that no one picked Sleeping Beauty, which I think is head and shoulders above any other Disney cartoon. A fairly distant second is Cinderella, which also has not been mentioned. Those are the only two that I'm really wild about.

I guess I'm out of step with the Disney crowd.

There's actually a split in my appreciation: the one's I consider "New Age" Disney Classics and "Classic" Disney Classics.

New Age top three:

Beauty and the Beast
The Lion King
Aladdin


Classic top six:

Fantasia
Snow White etc.
Cinderella
Peter Pan
Little Mermaid
Jungle Book

Both could easily have been "top many more", and also, I'm not exactly sure about the order .

1. Pinocchio -- It isn't even my favorite Disney film but I just can't get over the amazing background art.

2. Snow White -- I was worried this one wouldn't hold up well after not having seen it for decades. The new DVD has put my fears to rest.

3. The Jungle Book -- If I'm not mistaken this was the last feature that Uncle Walt had a hand in creating.

4. Beauty & The Beast -- Reignited my interest in animated films.

5. Robin Hood -- I was seriously into this movie as a kid and still enjoy it.

It's a real shame some people hesitate to refer Song of the South as a "real" Disney film. No thanks to Mr. Eisner, of course. This may not agree with everyone, but I think Beauty and the Beast is a little overrated.

I don't really think that any of the so-called 'new age' Disney titles can even compare to the earlier classics: Here are my favourites in order.

1) Alice in Wonderland - the most twisted of the earlier cartoons, and IMO the most fun.

2) Fantasia - the most magical Disney film, and IMO the most imaginative!

3) Peter Pan - I have really fond memories of this as a child. + its a great story.

4) Dumbo - another childhood favourite

5) Pinocchio - yet another childhood favourite

6) Bambi - IMO the essential Disney film, but not as personnal to me as the others so it goes lower down.

I also love these Disney animated classics, but wouldn't consider them to be favourites:

-Lady and the Tramp
-The Sword in the Stone
-Beauty and the Beast

All time #1 favourite animated film: Pinocchio

Favourite contemporary Disney: Beauty and the Beast

Others I love:

Classics: Alice in Wonderland, Fantasia, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Contemporary Disney films: I've pretty much loved all of them. Hercules and Mulan I didn't LOVE, but enjoyed well enough.

You want to upgrade again?!!

I had just seen Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for the first time a couple of days ago. It is already my favorite Disney animated film. Granted, I should revisit the other classic movies to make up my mind about them, but as of now, I enjoy Snow White more so than any other.

The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast are both terrifically entertaining, and Fantasia is definitly a treat, but it doesn't reach me personally. Instead, the Pines of Rome sequence in Fantasia 2000 hits me stronger than any sequence. But for pure silly fun, The Emperor's New Groove may have no peer.
