Converting Component to VGA

So I just bought a Thinkpad and sold my old desktop to a friend. Now I have a 19" lcd lying around collecting dust. I wont get back much if I sell it so I wanted to use the monitor with a divx player like the Philips 642. The problem is that the lcd only has VGA in. Can anyone tell me how I would convert component or s-video out from the dvd player to VGA in on the monitor? Is it as simple as buying a cable like this:

How about quality loss if any? Any info would be appreciated.

Not enough.

You need to put a dongle in between.

Examples: A DVDO iScan Pro (discontinued; estimated secondhand cost $200.) will convert 480i component to regular (640 x 480) VGA. A Lumagen HDP ($1500.) will convert just about any component video including 1080i HDTV to 1024x768 or 1280x1024 (other resolutions too) with quite superb results.

The ViewSonic NextVision line will do it. I use the N5 model. The results aren't stellar, but they're decent enough, and not too expensive — $150 or so?
