The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Matador is available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one! Also, Stoned is available in both Rated and Unrated/Extended Cut versions…get the one that’s right for you!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Might want to check your Doctor Who picture. Doctor Who First Series starred Billie Piper and Christopher Eccleston. David Tennant took over for him in the subsequent season thats airing currently on the BBC.

And, oh yeah, nothing for me this week.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Carlos V beat me to my comment on the unfortunate picture choice on Doctor Who -- that's actually a spoiler for anyone who hasn't seen the last episode of season one!

That's my lone buy for the week. It's a roll of the dice as to whether I should order from Amazon or buy from BB - when sales tax is taken into consideration, Amazon's actually a buck cheaper, but at BB I'd get RZ points. Decisions, decisions!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

The Doctor was a pretty good Show season 1, maybe if it had a $59.99 MSRP I'd Spring, but I've said no to HBO for charging $99.99 for it's 13 episode series and I have to also say no to the BBC..

Remington Steele and Pretender sets for $14.99 at BB-that works for me!

Wow! Looks like it's finally time to pick up The Girl Next Door and the In Living Color sets!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Zero this week. I was very tempted to grab the two disc Collateral from BB yesterday for $9.99, but ultimately decided against it. It's time to start plowing through the stuff I already have.

Thanks guys!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

I picked up Rescue Me S1/S2 and Seinfeld S5/S6 for $19.99 each at Target. They had plenty at noon. Sweet deal! (esp. on RM)

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Lest anyone take this the way I did:

Quote:
In Living Color: Season 1 / 5 $14.99 each
M*A*S*H: Season 1 / 9 $14.99 each

It's only those specific seasons on sale, not all seasons inclusive. As such, I just picked up season 1 of In Living Color; I may go back for 5 and fill in the hole when a good price comes along.

Also noted that BB locally was already sold out of their entire stock on all three seasons of The Pretender and seasons 1 and 2 of Remington Steele. For that matter, I think I grabbed the last copy of ILC season 1. I might have gone ahead and completed the run of The Pretender (I have season 1 already) and picked up season 1 of RS had they been in stock, but unless they have 'em when I stop in for Doctor Who on Tuesday, I probably won't make a special trip.

Anyway, these on-sale items do appear to be going fast, so get 'em while you can. If you're looking to get rainchecks, most BBs won't give 'em until the last day of the sale, so you're looking at having to make a special trip back just to get a piece of paper to come back yet again. Gas prices being what they are, there might not be enough savings to justify that...

Missed on the above list: BB has Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story and Napoleon Dynamite: Like, The Best Special Edition Ever at $6.99. It's on the cover of this week's circular rather than being listed with the other titles.

Finally, BB had a list of titles that were an unadvertised special at $5.99 each, including Glory (1 disc), A League of Their Own, Karate Kid (SE), A Few Good Men, Starship Troopers (SE), Just One of the Guys, Jerry Maguire and more than a dozen others that I can't recall right now.

Quote:
Bewitched: Season 1 / 2 / 3 $19.99 each
I Dream Of Jeannie: Season 1 $19.99

Worth noting that locally, Target has only been carrying the color versions of these, and not carrying them in the original B&W (Bewitched 3 was the first color season, Jenanie 2 was its first in color). I'm guessing that if you're a purist like me, you can get the B&W versions pricematched elsewhere. I might just do that on Bewitched, myself...

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

FYE.com has Doctor Who for $69.99 w/ a $10 MIR for $59.99 after rebate if anyone wants to deal with it. It's been a while since i shopped from them, so I don't know how they deal with tax but it's free shipping over $25.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Yeah, GND's not a bad little flick -- pretty funny, and it has a lot of heart. I picked up a copy, as well -- I'd been looking for a good price on it since I saw it as a rental last year.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Thanks for the tip, Joe! Looks like FYE does charge tax, which puts Doctor Who at $65.24. However, Amazon's dropped their price to $64.99 today, so they come in cheapest of all, plus I have Amazon Prime, so I should get it before the end of the week! Off to place my order!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Probably pick up Dark Angel season 2 and Office Space.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Went to Best Buy to pick up the new Johnny Cash CD (what I've heard so far is terrific!) and found myself irresistably drawn to the two Hill Street Blues seasons for $14.99 apiece. Lucky to still find copies there!

The display was horribly picked-over! At those prices I'm not surprised.

Maybe my purchase of HSB will spur on the release of St. Elsewhere (the series I can't wait for!).

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Mike, per TV Shows on DVD, the rumor is that we'll see St. Elsewhere in the fall!

Julio: I'm trying to bump it off "rumor" status and move it into a full-fledged announcement!

SE is "the" show I'd like to see committed to DVD.

Yeah, but don't forget the $10 rebate.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

That's taking the rebate into consideration. FYE's $69.99, plus 7.5% local sales tax ($5.25), less rebate ($10), is $65.24. So at $64.99 plus no tax, Amazon comes in one shiny quarter cheaper. I've already ordered, and thanks to my AmazoPrime membership, I should have it tomorrow!
