To Robert MG...

Any constant spot, line or other damage is extremely difficult to remove.

In most cases digital cleanup uses like material from adjacent frames to fill in problems.

Any constant damage must either be filled automatically with some other bit of image, or must be filled in pixel by pixel on a frame by frame basis.

Very, very expensive, and Fox did the correct thing here by leaving it alone.

Thanks Mr. Harris!!!!

Did you notice the spot when you viewed the film? Another question have you ever seen The Desert Song (WB Technicolor) starring Dennis Morgan. It is a title frustratingly tied up for years in legal issues. I hope eventually WB will untangle the rights. I hear the color was great and it is considered a great film.

Do you also know why the Eastside Kids films looked better in syndication years ago and sadly on video they are less than sub standard?

Lastly are you working on on new big screen restorations? I read the article about the great work you did on "The Patriot"

Thanks again on the reply about CC in PARIS!

As far as I know Eran Trece is the only foreign language Chan film still in existence. There supposedly were at least two films produced in China that never saw North American release nor are any known copies floating out there. If there were any other Spanish language Chans made, I am not aware of them.

It prompted me to dig up my old VHS copy of CC on Broadway and the laserdisc of CC at the Opera/CC in Paris. (By the way, what an improvement CC in Paris is over the LD version) I'm looking forward to volume two.

Broadway is my favorite...all those great character actors and a 1930s NY setting...can't beat that. Volume 2 should include Opera if Fox sticks to the chronological release plan. For sheer "fun" those later Olands (Opera, Race Track, Broadway, Circus et al) are tough to beat. The Toler films did give us some of the best writing though and the print quality on those should be phenomenal as they seemed to have survived the ages better. Dead Men Tell in particular looks like a an original negative.
