Everwood - Page 5

Re: Everwood

I think you're reading too much into it.

Re: Everwood

If anything, all they've really done is make the current status more clear. It's something that hasn't been released, period. If it says currently unavailable that implies that it's something that is out there, but you can't get right now for whatever reason, which isn't the case with Everwood season 2.

Re: Everwood

Videoeta (www.videoeta.com) is a great website that now also details TV on DVD release dates. They have also recently posted a most requested list:

Everwood Season 2 is on this list. Let's try to bump up the number of requests.

http://videoeta.com/most_requested_reminders.html

It's at number 12 with 828 requests.

Other favorites waiting for a release can also be found on this list.

Re: Everwood

Per a post on the imdb.com...

May 7th, Warner Bros. is having an online chat with The Home Theater Forum(google it) about their Television and Animation Divisions, so we can ask them about whether they will be releasing the DVD's or not. So, start marking down your calendars until May hits, cause we want answers and we're not leaving until we get 'em!

I have not seen any other posts re this upcoming chat...

Re: Everwood

ElizM, "Everwood" was answered at the last chat, and if the moderators will allow the subject of "Everwood" to be raise at this upcoming WB chat, it would be a good idea if one fan would bring it up.

If "Without a Trace" S2 sold well for Warner, there's a chance the studio might revisit "Everwood". Both series' first season resulted in low sales and has expensive music rights issues to clear. Warner took a risk and recently released the second season of "Without a Trace", clearing the music, and even providing fans extras, though this time in the form of deleted scenes. I don't know how well this series sold this time around, but hopefully it did well enough to not only justify more seasons, but offer fans of "Everwood" a similar treatment.

Gord, any idea how well "Without a Trace" S2 sold?

Re: Everwood

Yep. I know..I did not participate in the chat last year but I know that they were bombarded with Everwood questions to the point that many people were annoyed. I do hope, though, that WBros. will have a different answer re Everwood this go around.

Since there was no mention of "...and please don't ask any questions about 'Everwood'" when they put the announcement up, I'll presume they're allowing this series to be raised again.

Re: Everwood

NOTICE

Warner Brothers has contacted me to ask that there be
only ONE question allowed concerning Everwood
Season Two
.

After the one question is asked, no further questions will be
permitted. Anyone that blurts out a question from that point on
will be ignored by the studio and possibly removed from the chat.

I will make many attempts to remind latecomers throughout
the chat.

Understand that Everwood fans ruined last year's chat
for most everyone. While there were many fans who were very
respectful to the studio, there were many more who simply showed
up to blurt out questions -- mostly out of turn.

Understandably, the studio is concerned about this issue repeating
itself now that another chat is scheduled.

Please help us spread the word on other forums that Warner
is trying to be fair here by honoring a single question. However,
anyone who disrupts the forum with further questions from that
point on will be ignored and subjected to removal.

Thank You!

Re: Everwood

Thanks Ron for the notice. I want to thank Warner, and I hope this chat will go smoothly this time.

Re: Everwood

That's a timely note. Will pass this along...I was just going to read the recaps (not participate). Perhaps, one fan/person can be designated ahead of time to appropriately ask the question.

As Chris mentioned, at least, we can ask once...and have not been banned from bringing up the name of this show and or it's possible future release. Keeping my fingers crossed.....

Re: Everwood

If Warner Brothers has to ask for their to be only one EVERWOOD question... that makes me think they know how popular of a title is has become and maybe its under consideration. I mean at this point I would buy the DVDs even with changed music...

Re: Everwood

please HTF gods don't let the everwood fanatics ruin the upcoming WHV chat.

Re: Everwood

I think that if Warner wants to allow only one question about Everwood (which is fine considering what happened), it may be a good sign. Also the question must be well worded. It cant be just are you going to release more Everwood. It has to show that there are fans out there who want it and definitely bring up Without A Trace, considering they both got the same answer at the last chat. I also think the timing of last years chat was bad because Everwood was just cancelled, unjustly might I add, but I won't go off on a tangent about that

Who cares about these stupid chats...all they ever say is "We have no plans to release that at this time."

Re: Everwood

Or it could be that Warner Bros doesn't want to be asked to release something they don't have plans to release because the initial sets didn't sell very well, and the show has music issues.

Re: Everwood

Why even go thru the motions of limiting it to one question? Why doesn't Warners just make a statement about "Everwood" at the start of the chat, then consider the issue closed?

Then the mods don't have to worry about when the "one question" will show up.

Re: Everwood

And explain to me what the point of the "chat" is in the first place. Here's how the chat went last year:

Question: "Do you have plans for ______ on dvd anytime soon?"

Answer: "We have no plans for ______ at this time."

So again I ask: what do we really learn from these chats? Nothing, as far as I can see. Even if they are working on some show that's coming out in the distant future, they can't even tell us because said show is not officially on the schedule yet. In other words, they probably have to do their marketing research and notify the retailers long before they even start dropping hints as to what's coming. Last year's chat barely even hinted at some titles that were officially announced only weeks later. So they must have known that those titles were coming out, only they couldn't tell us in that chat. So again--what's the point in the first place? As far as I can see it, the chat's purpose is to be coy and uninformative.

Re: Everwood

Ethan

I am going to state the obvious. If you don't think much of
these chats, then please don't attend.

I am looking at last year's chat transcript and it looks as if Warner
did an admirable job of answering questions.

But perhaps the right questions weren't being asked for the type
of answers you wanted. If the studio replies with "no plans to
release this title at this time,"
then that COULD be considered
a wasted question. Additionally, it should be a no-brainer that
the studio is going to be very cautious about leaking upcoming
release plans that perhaps they deem too early to announce.

And I bet it never crossed your mind that these chats serve another
purpose in that it helps the studio evaluate what titles consumers
want to see released. Both Fox and Warner have been known to
release titles that were suggested through these chats or in the
forum thread areas.

As I have stated already.....if you are dissatisfied with these chats
then don't attend.

Re: Everwood

There were a number of titles that Warner mentioned last year which we hadn't heard anything about before, like Popeye and The Smurfs (which they said they hoped to release this year). There were also a number of titles that HTF members brought up which can now be found on Warner's poll regarding animated shows - coincidence?

I speak to various Warner Bros people about 2-4 times a week, and I still come to the chats because I know I'll learn something new.

Re: Everwood

Hi Gord!

Not to get too off-topic here but let me tell you my little
brush with fame....

Two years ago, during a Warner chat, I brought up a very
obscure title, Up The Academy that I was hoping would
be released to DVD. George Feltenstein jokingly mocked me for
my obscure taste in bad films and said it wasn't on their upcoming
slate. Know what?! Within a year, that film was released to DVD.

I sort of like to think that the folks at Warner had pen and paper
in hand, jotted down that title, and in the end I had something to
do with getting that film out.

Well, all of you who attend these chats have the same power.
This forum is scrutinized by studios like Warner and Fox who
want to see what consumers would like released.

Re: Everwood

Well then if the shoe was on the other foot, I would say that Warners discovered last year that fans really want to see Everwood on dvd and that Everwood fans are annoying. And don't worry about me scuttling the chat--I only read the transcript of last year's; I didn't attend last year, have no plans to attend this year, and eagerly await all the fascinating announcements they have to offer.

Re: Everwood

well, if Warner doesn't want to be annoyed with Everwood questions... why not just cave into fan pressure and, I dunno... release the damn DVD? I mean, do they really think there's a larger market for What I Like About You, which WB cancelled the same time they cancelled Everwood, but yet WILAY was the lowest rated series on the network and even most fans were okay to see it go?

lol, I love your sarcasm. I agree. We'll probably hear about a "super duper Friends bobble-head Complete Deluxe Edition Bonus Disc" set coming this year, while tons of shows they have been stuck at season 1 for three years will continue to be skimmed over.

Re: Everwood

At least it's Warners, who I'm more or less happy with (Who'da thunk we'd get all the way to Dallas season 7 so soon?) But let me tell you--if it was a Sony chat, I'd be there with bells on--mostly to get them to goose up their production speed and to add some !#$!# extras to their dvds...!

I have to agree with this poster, Warner Brothers is easily my favorite distributor for TV on DVD related content...

Re: Everwood

well, considering I like Friends and many of the WB shows, they've been good in that field, but when they are bad, they are the worst.

And I truly agree with Ethan's comment about
"Question: "Do you have plans for ______ on dvd anytime soon?"

Answer: "We have no plans for ______ at this time.""

You'd think Warner would want to listen to the people who put money in their pockets and take notes about what the fans want to see... but they don't.

It's been nearly a year since the last chat and there has yet to be an announcement for Everwood: Season 2. That's what the fans want to buy, not the 35th repackaging of Friends.

Yeah, Everwood fans. They're not repackaging Friends repeatedly because it's not making them money.

Re: Everwood

Well then--with all the money they're making off zillions of Friends dvds, they can afford to release another season of Everwood. So there, too!

I know, every Friends fan OWNS the damn show already. You would've thought that Warner would've taken notes last chat with so many Everwood fans begging for season 2 last year. I mean, does Warner seriously think that there's a bigger demand for What I Like About You than Everwood season 2?
