Chat Room Help!

Thread Starter
I wanted to be prepared for tomorrow night's much anticipated chat with WHV, so I tried accessing the chat room to make sure all was well.

Not so.

I keep getting the following error message:

Unable to connect : java.security.AccessControlException

This is after waiting quite a while for the chat window to actually load...

What could be done to resolve this issue?

I do have mIRC btw, would it be better to log in through that rather than directly through the HTF link?

If so, could someone please inform me of the server channel and details, etc. so that I can try it out?

I'd be terribly dissapointed if I didn't mae it to the chat tomorrow night due to technical issues.

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Chat Room Help!

Okay, I thing I've got it...

Should I do the following to access the chat through mIRC?

...

/server irc.shadowfire.org

(port 6667)

/join #HTF

Is that all correct?

Re: Chat Room Help!

Yes, that is correct.

Click on View > Connect > Servers > Add

And then put in

Description: Shadowfire
IRC Server: irc.shadowfire.org
Port(s): 6667

Click Ok:

Then click on Connect > Servers > Options > Perform

and put in

/join #htf

That should do it.

The problem with using the local chat program on your PC has to do with the
fact that your IP address cannot be resolved by shadowfire.org for
some reason. To be able to use the javachat the shadowfire server has
to be able to identify where you are coming from. If you are setting behind
a firewall that could be the problem.
