Profile pictures - how long to update?

Just curious to know how long it takes for an updated profile picture to appear in threads. I had uploaded one picture from my PC, which seemed to show up right away. Then I decided I wanted to use a different one.

Not sure if I made a mistake by not deleting the old one first. I just uploaded the second one. However, the first one still appears, even if it doesn't appear in my User PC anymore. Just wondering if there's a refresh time involved.

Any help is appreciated...

These avatar pictures are behaving very oddly.

I changed a couple of mine, but now instead of displaying
just the one I want, it seems to go into a rotation displaying
all of the pictures I have uploaded to date.

There's a big debate going on amongst the staff whether to
keep these avatars or not.

Ah...thanks for the quick answer! I haven't seen the second one in any kind of rotation yet.

The avatars are cool, but personally I can live without them.

Ron: I don't know if you want the debate to extend to this thread, but my vote would be no, too. Sig pictures are enough. Or, at least one but not the other.

I dont mind them. But i cant get a pic to load for my sig. like Mike can, but i am semi clueless. Maybe you can do an either or, but not both? Why dont you guys like them Ron?

Rick: The picture needs to be uploaded to a site on the internet. If you don't have a place, PhotoBucket is a site that a lot of people use.

Then, all you need to do is take the URL where the picture is stored and enter it into the sig pic section in your UserCP.

blame them. The forum is going to become a complete
eyesore with all the graphics that are about to be posted.

As of right now, the situation is being left alone. Whether
we keep continue to allow both AVATAR and SIGNATURE
picture pends on how much the privilige gets abused and/or
if it affects overall forum load speeds.

Currently, I don't seem to be seeing Profile pix...just sig pix.

Several members I know have profile pictures (including Parker & Ron)...but I'm not seeing them any more.

So...I guess I should be seeing the profile pictures? But, I don't?

I saw them when they were first implemented...cuz I thought it made things kinda busy.

Maybe if you think real hard you can make them go away!

Is it possible to have some kind of ban on moving images in profile & sig pictures? I just saw one in a thread I was reading and it was *very* distracting.

might it have to do with all the sweat on locke's shirt on your avatar?

regarding avatars, if they are limited to a fairly small size like they are now, i think they could be non-intrusive. but if they were taken away, i wouldnt be too upset, and i doubt many others would either.

I was just coming in here to post the same problems as Andrew.

I uploaded the wrong pic, changed it 10 seconds later, but the initial image is still displayed for whatever reason...

Oh well.

I'm starting to feel like I'm being left out of "the club"! People are discussing their avatars in other threads and I can't see them.

I cannot imagine why...because I can't see them on either of the computers I use (at home and at work). So, I'm left to conclude that it is somewhere in my settings...but I don't think there IS a setting to turn profile pictures off. Odd.

Mike, what about your computer settings, as opposed to your HTF settings? As your the one who helped me figure out how to put a pic in my sig i know i am off little help...but it was a thought anyway.

It seems that the profile sigs do update immediately but
your browser may not reflect the change quickly enough
pending what is cached.
