The Best Burger Place EVER - Page 4

Re: The Best Burger Place EVER

what timing. I just had a Hardee's (carl Jr for some of you) Monster thickburger today. It had been about 3 years since I have had Hardee's and it was fairly tasty and extremely filling.

Re: The Best Burger Place EVER

OK, went to the Five Guys tonight. The place was packed. Damn those burgers were good, and my daughter loved the grilled cheese. And those cajun fries were fantastic.

They started doing this thing of a Burger-Bracket, to find the best burgers in America...

And the winner was somewhere I haven't been (Blancs) but apparently is pretty good.

What is the criteria for the vote... best cheap burger?  That has to be the case based on what I am seeing here.  Five Guys is good for a cheap burger but I have been to Le Tub (Hollywood, Fla) since my last posting and it is quite awesome.  Another fantastic burger I had was at Capital Grill.  Both blow all fast food burgers out of the water and are highly recommended for total quality.

I tried 5 guys that just opened here about 8 months ago. Their burgers and fries are the exact same as a local burger place that has been here for 26 years and 5 guys costs twice as much for a meal.

They are delicious, but glad I have a local cheaper alternative.

Local place is called snappy stop, and 5 guys do have a bigger selection, but just a doublecheeseburger and fries is all I need.

Atlanta has the best burger in the country.

I've been to the one near us a couple times, and it leaves me unimpressed. I can only presume I like my burgers differently from everyone else :) What's the special appeal of a 5 Guys burger and fries?

There is a place in Southern California called Slaters 50/50. Their signature burger is 50% ground sirloin, 50% ground bacon. It is an incredible burger. But what really makes Slaters great is how you can order. They have menu items like most places, but when you sit down they give you a pencil and a slip of paper with all their burger choices, i.e., meat, buns, toppings, size, etc. And they have a lot of great choices. You just check off what you want to custom make your own burger.

If you search youtube for Slater's 50/50 there are a bunch of videos available. It is hard for me to imagine that any place could make a tastier burger than the 50/50.

Follow up of sorts...I just discovered that a local (Roseville, CA) butcher carries hamburger patties that are 50% ground bacon, 50% beef. Ultimate burger goodness is now sitting in my refrigerator waiting for a tryout.

IHOP now has bacon-mixed beef standard.  You have to ask for a regular patty.

When I lived in California I went to a place called Knowlwood.  Loved those burgers.  I'd often go in intending on getting an order of fish and chips and nearly always walk out with a burger.

Then I moved and there wasn't a decent burger for miles (let alone fish and chips) until Five Guys showed up a couple of months ago.  They're no Knowlwood, and they're expensive, but when I'm in the mood for a burger that's where I go.

Now if only a decent place for fish and chips would open up.

BTW - California is the land of In and Out burgers.  I've been there a couple of times but I don't know what the big deal is.

Five Guys is OK, but I like Red Robin much better.

What, no love for The Margaritaville Cafe or their "knock-off", Cheesburger In Paradise?  biggrin.gif

John has it right: Red Robin over 5 Guys (which is still quite nice, though).

Earlier today I discovered a new burger place is opening up in my neighborhood - smashburger.  Anyone heard of them?  They say they're the same as Five Guys but with a (slightly) wider menu selection.  Still no Fish and Chips, tho.  thumbsdown.gif

Yeah, we've got one in the Dallas area, but I've never been there.  I think the franchise was opened by a couple of Cowboys.  We also have something called Twisted Root that's supposed to be good, but I've never tried it, either.  I've also started going to a place called Mooyah that's pretty good.  The patties are thin, but they have a sweet pickle that gives it a good flavor.
