Suggestion: "Show All Posts" option for multipage threads?

This technically isn't a problem so I didn't post it in the main thread. But now that we've upgraded to the new version of the software, I was wondering if there existed a "Show All" option for multipage threads where it shows all the pages in one long continuous single page. I'm a member of a couple of other forums that have this option.

I know the reason for splitting long threads into multiple pages is for improving the speed for those with slower download speeds. But for those of us with fast connections (i.e. T1) the Show All Posts option would be really cool. In the other forums the Show All is usually a button located in the toolbar that has the page number jump links. I.e. if a thread is 5 pages long, the page jump bar usually has "|Page 1 of 5| 1| 2| 3| 4| 5| > | Show All |" on the top and bottom right hand side of the page.

Just wondering if this is an option that Parker and Ron have, and would consider enabling.

Thanks! You guys have done a great job getting us back up and running so quickly!

Could you point me to a forum that you visit that uses this version of vBulletin and has this option?

Thanks,

Re: Suggestion: "Show All Posts" option for multipage threads?

Hi Parker,

Unfortunately the one forum I am a member of is a closed forum, but I was able to take some screencaps. Apparently, it is a hack, as I did some research and found the following post on the vBulletin forum by one of their developers (since I don't have a membership or license I can't read the hack but you probably have one and can authenticate):

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=75456

Apparently the hack was for 3.0.6, and the forum employing it uses 3.0.7, but perhaps the hack won't work for significantly higher versions, and if it's unstable I can certainly understand if we don't want to try it. I thought more than one forum used it, but now I've checked all of the ones I go to and only one does, sorry!

In any case, here's the screen caps I was able to get of the "show all" function from the forum and the vb version number at the bottom of the page...

In any event, thanks for looking into this! I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

It doesn't look like anyone has written it for 3.5.4. If you notice anyone that has done this let me know.
