Live action "Star Blazers" coming to the big screen... - Page 2

I actually don't care where this movie comes from, if it's going to look that good and be put together with that level of care towards the original look and feel than that's awesome.

Besides, I think an American attempt at Star Blazers would only screw it up, just my opinion.

Wow...that looks pretty freaking cool!

Since we are talking about old child hood shows.  Anybody know what show this might be.  Giant robot, pilot sits in the head.  It is not voltron or gundom.  This was in the mid to late 80's.  There is also one episode in particular when the pilot is traveling on a skateboard to the pilot seat and the song "safety dance" is playing.  Ring a bell for anybody?

It could be The Mighty Orbots? An early to mid eighties show that only ran 1 year on Sat. morning.

Get out of here! I can't believe someone else besides me remembers WTAF Philadelphia Channel 29, that' just too damn cool. You must have grown up around the Delaware/Philadelphia area like me. I remember in my youth there were three really cool syndiacted channels and I believe they were all based out of Philadelphia. There was channel 17 WPHL, Channel 48 WPVI, and of course WTAF Channel 29. Channel 48 eventually went off the air in the late 70's or early 80's.

I remember watching Starblazers on channel 29, Battle of the Planets on channel 48, and Ultraman on Channel 17. Battle of the Planets eventually went to one of the Turner owned networks, I believe it was TBS.

Channel 17 was the coolest as far as weekday kids programming. I distinctly remember watching Speed Racer, Marine Boy, King Kong, Spider-Man, the Filmmation Superhero cartoons, Ultraman, Space Giants, and Johnny Socko and his Flying Robot.

Anyway Jonz, you sound like you may be a fan of the old school cartoons, if so you should check out www.toontracker.com, this web site has the theme songs to many of the old school cartoons from back in the day. Take care man.

Wow some old memories there.
WPVI is actually channel 6, Philly's local ABC affiliate.
Channel 48 was WKBS.
I watched all those shows.

On Saturdays we had the Dr Shock show for old terrible movies like The Colossal Man/Beast.

Anyway that Star Blazers clip looks great, hope it comes out into a great movie.

Nope that is not it... but thanks for trying......

The only other show where a giant robot was piloted by a human that I can think of, besides the obvious ones like Voltron, is Tranzor Z but that predates the 80's...

It wasn't Tranzor Z.  The look is almost there.  Keep in mind I saw these in the middle 80's.  I don't know when they were actually made.  I just remember the one scene because I loved the song that was being played.  It looked like he was skateboarding before he was in the cockpit of the robot.

Thanks for trying thou.  I didn't mean to derail the conversation.  It has just been very frustrating.
