I like the smaller cases. I'm not a big nut for cover art.

Apples & oranges.
One does not always design by one size fits all. A movie poster & DVD/HD-DVD cover are not the same size, therefore differant artwork may have to be used to sell the two very differant sizes. Lobby cards sometime uses differant artwork, billboards sometimes uses differant art work. Things that look good on a DVD/HD-DVD cover, may not be as visualing appealing on a poster, and vice versa.

This is how the films were initially sold, and this is how they should be continued to be represented....
Two differant markets. Do you asume everyone that brought a ticket will buy the DVD/HD-DVD? Do you asume everyone that buy's the DVD/HD-DVD, saw the movie in a theater? Of coarse not. Some movies do much better in DVD release than in film release. The movie poster (and other factors) did not get them into the theater. Now the marketers have to get them to buy the DVD/HD-DVD of the movie they never saw. Put the poster that did not get them into the theater on the cover? How much sence does that make?

I completely understand how ugly packaging could turn a buyer off on a certain product. It's a poor, cheap reflection of something substantial and treasured which means so much more...
There was a thread on the SD software forum that had people posting you where not a movie lover if you did not buy the DVD because of the cover! People were calling people names if they would not buy ugly covered DVD's. It was "ugly"!

Thankfully, I'll be supporting Blu-Ray.
Are you inferring that Blu-ray will only have original poster art as covers?

Maybe someone can post their favorite movie poster in HD-DVD cover size here?
