also no one has mentioned "snoopy come home".

Must...resist...beagle head packaging!

are any other penauts out this weak besides A Boy Named Charlie Brown?

Tony: Nope. Just Boy Named Charlie Brown & Snoopy Come Home. Both are listed in the RoundUp. Only $9.99 @ BestBuy.

**EDIT**
Actually Tony, Pat Walhquist has reported this tonight over in his Sliver review in Software:

Quote:
I'll be posting the review tonight or tomorrow for two of the Peanuts theatricals. The AR is off on both of them as well. I've dispatched an email to Paramount.

Maybe there is more than two being released Tuesday. Also, I guess there are issues with the AR. You may want to check into it before purchasing.
There are just the two releases this week. There is another one slated for June. The review will be up tomorrow morning.

I've anxiously been awaiting Kong. Can't wait to see how it looks on my brand new 70" JVC 1080p via the Oppo! The darn ape's head is going to be as big as the HT room!

Zip, zero and zilch this week. I've netflixed the Masters of Horror discs, so I'll be watching them eventually.

The X-files deal at BB looks sick. I'll buy seasons 4-6 and who knows what else.

From the 7/26/05 Roundup:
Quote:
Boston Red Sox 2004 W.S. Coll. Ed. $90.97 $89.99 $129.99 - -
Not only did that get a line in the Roundup, but also an image and quote at the top of the Roundup (speaking of which, Mike, where have those quotes gone?):
Quote:

Swing and a ground ball…stabbed by Foulke. He has it. He underhands to first, and the Boston Red Sox are the world champions! For the first time in 86 years, the Red Sox have won baseball’s world championship! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!?
–Joe Castiglione (WEEI Radio – 2004)
Fast forward to this week's Roundup, and this virtually identical release upon us:

which is MIA from the Roundup. A little East coast (and specifically, Red Sox) bias there, eh Mike?
All I know, Mike, is I'll be calling you out again next week if this release:

is not included in the ol' Roundup (yes, I am an Astros fan).

And as for the White Sox set, the lowest online price appears to be $41.97 shipped at DDD in case anyone is interested (which, apparently, Mike doesn't think anyone is).

And yes, Mike, I'm fully aware of your disclaimer you post every week, just having a little fun with you.

I throw myself upon the mercy of the court, Judge Scott_J!

Honestly, I had NO idea the ChiSox set was coming out this week! None! I hadn't even heard anyone was putting togther a ChiSox set!

IF I had known, it probably would have made the RoundUp. True, I'm a diehard Red Sox fan (I cannot tell you much I appreciated you pasting Joe Castiglione's call of the final out of the '04 series into your post! It still gives me chills!), but I am a baseball fan above all. I sometimes see various team discs on new release weeks and while I oftentimes ignore them thinking that their fans will know and figure things out on their own, I normally will include something like a World Series or SuperBowl set.

Oh well. The 2005 Astros: The Champsionship Season, eh?! Sounds like the kind of disc us Red Sox fans used to pick up before 'o4. I cannot tell you how many versions of the '67, '75, and '86 Series I've seen over the years!

And, your honor, let the court's record show I still do NOT have the above-mentioned 12-disc '04 set in my own collection. Too rich for my blood...even though DDD has had some awfully good (and tempting) sales on it. I figure it's going to have to come down in price sometime...and I've got at least 3 or 4 single-disc compilations to hold me over until the big day finally comes....

I had to order the KK 2-disc set from Tower, was just too good of a price to pass up. I also ordered "Lucas" with Corey Haim for $8.49 to get the free shipping...

King Kong 2 disk IS $16.99 in-store. There was a shelf tag and many copies.

Chris are you referring to Tower B&M with that price or another retailer? Our local Wal-Mart is priced at $22.95 for 2-Disc Collectors Edition.

I've talked to people at CompUsa who is selling the 1 Disc for $14.99.
Mike,

The Red Sox set is outside my price range too, but I discovered that my local library has it. Check yours!

Just grabbed KONG 2-disc for $16.99 at Tower Video in NYC (B&M).
Today only for that price. Still a bit stunned...

Thanks to Chris Brunner & Scott_J (on page 1) for the tip!

Tower's price on KK: 2D SE is incredible! My wife picked it up for me today on her lunch break at the Tower B&M location near her work (Brea, CA). She said there was a large KK DVD diplay upon entering the store and no line at the check-out. She was happy that she was in and out of there in just a few minutes.

BTW - I checked with my local Wal-Mart on their pricing for KK 2D SE - $22.84.

Also got the KK 2-discer at a local Tower (NE Philly) for $16.99. Just got off the phone with the counter-guy and he said "Nope, not just today. That price is all this week."

does "G" street this week?
it's listed as 4-4 in our system at work.

If you plan to pick up "Doctor Who: The Beginning" boxset from Best Buy, you may want to be prepared: print out the BB webpage with price and take it with you - for this happened to me this afternoon:

I went merrily skipping into the store after work, found it on the shelf, and was confronted by a $46.99 sticker. Hmm, sez I; this seems a bit inflated. No shelf talker for a sale price. Took the set over to a clerk; asked if he'd check the price. $46.99, no discount. "Could you pull up your online page?" He did, and what had shown on my computer at home that morning as $34.99 was now showing $46.99.

I said - as politely as I could - "this stays here," replaced it on the shelf, and went across the street to a Borders, where it was actually in stock, and actually on sale (not quite as good as $34.99, but...). And thought to myself - this is Best Buy and not the stock market, right?

Now, this evening, the BB webpage claims $34.99. But to make sure I wasn't hallucinating, I called the store to re-check and confirm that the price was, indeed, $46.99.

Thus this warning: be prepared to fight for the price you expect and deserve; I wasn't properly armed. And this question: what the heck is this retailer doing? Is not only their inhouse system but their inhouse version of the website set to agree with what is set at the store?

And this thought - whether it's really worth the hassle to deal with this retailer. I'd been reasonably happy in the past, but my experience with "I Dream of Jeannie" a couple weeks back, and now today's experience makes me wonder.

My thanks to Mike and the others who compile and contribute to this list each week; as so many others do I deeply appreciate your help in making my entertainment dollars go farther.

dave i guess you already opened the set you bought?

if not return it and buy it online with in store pick up at BB.com.

or buy it that way at BB.com and return that one to borders with the borders receipt.

The 2-disc Kong set was $20.89 at my local Costco and included a postcard set (not sure if this is a store exclusive).

2 other finds at Costco:
The single disc Kong, packaged with the production diaries set was $28.XX, only about $3 more than their regular price on the diaries.
The Planet of the Apes collection was $30.89 or so.

Thank you for the thoughts, TonyD; I've done that in the past (with - if I remember right - Twilight Zone Definitive season 3 or 4). My wife and I have already watched the first couple half-hours of the first story (got her hooked, heh heh...).

Between the travel involved (15 miles south of where I live - and no TARDIS at my disposal), and the fact that I've gotten my few bucks of satisfaction in letting you all know what this retailer is doing - I'll sit tight on this one. This time.

Yes indeed; shows the lower price here at home. Good question, though.

All best -

My lists said so, Tony. And, I saw it at my local Borders tonight when I was picking up my two-disc Kong.

I stopped by CompUSA this afternoon and browsed through their DVD selection. I was surprised to find Memoirs of a Geisha for $14.99. It was a nice surprise since my local Wal-Mart had already sold out of the WS versions (at $16.84). This price is available online as well:

Got my Kong 2 disc at Best Buy & only was out of pocket about $9. Guy at the counter Must've thought I'd never quit handing him stuff. First, the RZ card, MasterCard, then Target ad for pm, Papa Johns coupon, $10 Gift Card. He handled it perfectly though & I got my box of Bunch a Crunch too.

Thanks for the roundup guys.

How about this (complete) version of the '86 series, also out today?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...v=glance&n=130
That's something we'll both probably be avoiding, since it also contains the complete NLCS clincher vs. Houston, although if I can ever find it cheap enough I'll probably pick it up for the historical aspect of it.

Stopped by my local BB and CC to check out the 'Planet of the Apes' products.

No one seems to be selling the movies individually.

Already have 35th Anniv. reissue and would never purchase 'Battle' again.

Guess I wouldn't have paid $13 per sequel anyway, it would have been cheaper to just buy Legacy for $33 at CC.

Ended up not getting anything.

...and now the winning run is on second with two outs, three and two to Mookie Wilson...little roller up along first; behind the bag! It gets through Buckner! Here comes Knight and the Mets win it!"--NBC Sports play-by-play announcer Vin Scully

Nah. If I can't get the '04 discs....I sure as hell ain't gonna get the '86 discs! Although, i DID see that set at my local Borders last night. It also slipped through the cracks of the RoundUp. I don't know how I missed these.

I also did see the White Sox '05 discs.

Good find on the Geisha discs at CompUSA, Jeff. I'll probably wait on that one to show up at my local rental shops previously viewed.

I picked up The Planet of the Apes: Legacy Collection at Costco for $30.19 which is just across the road from Circuit City where I had planned to pick it up.

I'm glad I went to Costco first!

Just wanted to follow up and say I order King Kong from Towerrecords.com on Tuesday first thing in the morning and got it today! Very pleased with the shipping time, just wish they had padded the box Luckily the dvds weren't mishandled.
