That's pretty cool 'easter egg' for hardcore fans.

That trailer looked really good. Based on what I've seen, I'm excited to see this but I don't want to get my hopes up too high.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

Apparently there will be an alternate ending on the DVD.

I thought that production team did a good job with the remake of TCM so I think they'll do okay here.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

I won't watch this new trailer, as much as I'd like to. Gotta leave some surprises!

As for whether it'll be a worthy addition to the Friday the 13th universe. Well, we shall find out on Friday the 13th...

Friday the 13th Trailer

If I had to knitpick something about the trailer it would be the look of Crystal Lake.

I was sort of hoping that the filmmakers would stay true to their promise of recapturing the feel of the earliest F13 films by creating a rustic old camp for Jason to stomp through.

I know that our main characters aren't counselors here, but the cabin they're staying in looks like a belongs in some gated community in Long Island. In short, it looks too "rich."

Other than that I'm looking forward to it. Looks like there are not only some great kills (is that a sleeping bag I spied in the trailer?) but the possibility of some creepy stalking scenes as well (something SORELY missing from most of today's slasher films).

I really hope they nail this one. Jason is the man!

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

Just saw the trailer for the first time. Is it me or did Jason go on some kind of diet (adkins or nutrisytem or maybe south beach diet?). He looks skinnier than the Jason I remember.

That's fine by me, I always thought that Kane Hodder was too large for Jason. I always preferred the CJ Graham and Warrington Gillette body type for Jason.

The more I see and hear of this the more excited I get!

Actually, Steve Dash played Jason for the majority of the scenes in Friday 2. Gillette only played Jason during the unmasked sequence at the end when he crashes through the window.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

Is anyone else going to one of the midnight screenings tonight? I'm thinking about going as I just found out my theater as a 12:01 showing. Somewhat worried about drunk, loud people being there though.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

My wife and I usually go to movies on Sundays during the day. But considering I've been a major F13 fan and have usually gone on the Premiere Night for all the films, I may tough it out tomorrow night. Part of the great theater-going experiences I've had in the '80s was seeing these things with an appreciative crowd.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

I went to watch THE READER again today and went ahead and got tickets for the screening tonight. 12:01 is a rather weird time but looking online I noticed a few places are also like 12:03. Why not 12 or 12:05???

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

I haven't seen tons of midnight screenings but every time that I have, it's always just been fans (and not drunks or assholes) so the biggest 'problem' is people who clap when the title comes up or when a main character appears but other than that, it's usually a group who is excited to see the movie.

I was thinking about going tonight but I decided to just hit the first show tomorrow.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

The clapping and so on is something I was worried about. I might be old fashioned but I want people to be quiet during the movie but hopefully things will go well tonight.

Friday the 13th :: rogerebert.com :: Reviews

Well, Ebert liked it.....more than the previous 11 at least.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

The now defunct Starburst magazine's Alan Jones wasn't impressed.

Friday The 13th

And neither was I. For pretty much the same reason I didn't like My Bloody Valentine 3D, a lack of sympathetic characters. In this day and age I don't expect such painfully obvious stereotypes. It's lazy writing. And as for story logic in this remake.

Granted they had a far higher budget than previous Friday's and it sure looks polished enough, but you just expect an improvement in quality of story telling.

As for unrealistic audience expectations, please, if cinema goers circa 2009 are too noisy, buy a projector or large screen TV. Failing that you could always call the police, to beat them into silence...

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

I'm seeing this today, i'm very curious to see how they mix the first film with Jason being an adult and doing the killing rather than his mother.

Plus I can't wait to see this new aggresive Jason at work.

On the subject of annoying audiences, I think that at times an appropriate level of enthusiasm in an audience can make for an even better time at a movie. Horror films in particular can be a blast when you see them with a crowd who aren't overly annoying but scream, jump and hollar at all the same spots you do.

Mr. Ebert. Good show!

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

All Ebert's review shows is he's swayed by a film that brings nothing new to the Slasher film other than glossy production values.
And after the hate campaign and bashing he gave the previous films, it's hard to care what that middle of the road reviewer thinks.

I couldn't agree with you more, Simon.

But I liked My Bloody Valentine 3-D a lot, though I suppose that's neither here nor there.

I never *HATED* a Jason film before (although FvJ was close). I'm more bummed out than anything else today.

Ditto on your review in the theatrical section.
I'm saddened that writers, producers and actors continue to feed the public with what amounts to hateful, weak willed characters who exhibit serious social dysfunction. Yes that's right exhibiting sudden bursts of violent or aggressive behaviour IS a weakness, and this coming from characters we're supposed to root for? how out of touch is Hollywood?

Sadly a lot of kids, and adults who are old enough to know better, emulate such behaviour. It's partially responsible for ruining the way a certain percentage of society communicate. That's current popular culture for you.

Another prime example is Disney's Bolt, which would have been a mildly likeable kids film, had it not been for the undercurrent of sarcasm and passive aggressive attitude.

I'd have liked MBV 3D a lot more had they not relied on CG blood, it just doesn't have the weight to convince me it's actually there. The policeman not losing his cool and bashing things, and as for that badly acted killer's unmasked stare at the end. Was it meant to be a comedy? ;-)

I thought FvJ's juvenile anything goes (the Jason pinball scene anyone?) cheapened the Friday franchise, and to my mind it doesn't exist.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

Could anyone recommend me a slasher that doesn't have stereotype characters ala the naked dummy, the jock, the brain, the pot head, the drunk, the sex addict and then the good girl? I've got STUDENT BODIES, BLOODY NEW YEAR, BLOODY BIRTHDAY and VISITING HOURS on their way to me since I planned on making this a slasher weekend and I haven't seen any of those titles. Hopefully these will be some of those without the stereotypes.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

Try April Fool's Day if you haven't already. It's got some stereotypical characters, but the whole thing is basically a sendup of the genre.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

Yeah, I've seen that one. I also just learned that BLOODY NEW YEAR isn't even a slasher but a ghost story so....

I might take a beating over this but the redneck mom and son are among the greatest characters to ever grace the series.

Nearly every line they have in the movie makes me laugh especially "You big dildo" and "fuckwad".

Yeah, what's THAT all about? This know-it-all has been savagely trashing this series since Day One (even without seeing all the films, which he freely admits) and now he throws a bone at fans with his "generous" ** rating? Please.

Sleepaway Camp is one of my all time favorites!

I love the first two SLEEPAWAY CAMP films as well. I also liked RETURN. Part 3 is pretty bad though.
