"Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th! - Page 6

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

The hockey mask is more iconic, but the pillow cased Jason from part 2 is the scariest.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

That pillow mask was also somewhat used in THE STRANGERS so some "new" viewers might think this remake was ripping that off. I also prefer the pillow mask but there's no way in hell the producer's would okay a film without the hockey mask.

Maybe they'll explain how Jason goes from a small child at the end of 1 to a full grown adult at the beginning of 2. If anyone can explain this to me...

It's only a dream at the end of the first one. Jason doesn't actually appear in the movie besides that dream and Mrs. Voorhees' flashback.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

All of the Friday the 13th films were pretty bad. None qualify as good films. None come close to the decent horror films like Halloween 1 & 4, Nightamre on Elm Street 1 and 3 or the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

A remake for this series doesn't bother me like it does with Texas Chainsaw Massacre or the upcoming Robocop (how the hell do you top that film? you can't!!!).

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

Interestingly mtv.com has a video showing footage of the new Jason, and while, being outside the U.S., I can't watch it, it does show a small picture of it and I must say it looks great.

It looks very close to how it did in Part III and IV. Similar to the Myers mask, they could never get it to look quite right afterwards.

And while I don't approve of doing a remake, as I'd much rather prefer a legitimate sequel (a loose sequel that only has to keep continuity with the first 3 or 4 would be the way I'd have wanted them to go) that strives to recapture the look and feel of the first four Fridays (I'm no fan of Zombie Jason), I must say I'm encouraged.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

Well, since New Line and Paramount are both behind this, if this is a hit (and it will be), there's a chance for "Tommy" to come back at some point. If this thing at least makes $30 million then we're going to get sequels released every year.

I also noticed that MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3-D opens three weeks before this.

Let Sylvester Stallone make this film, he's the only one in Hollywood who knows how to do sequels correctly these days lol.

Which movie had Jason in New York and he was a sewer beast? That one stunk but can't remember the point of that whole movie, my mind went blank on the title.

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes MANHATTAN ... for about 10 minutes.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

Part 8 is one that needs to be remade AND do what the title says. Having Jason running around a big city could make for a lot of fun.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

The main problem with part 8 is the title. Had it been called "JASON TAKES A CRUISE", then fans might have said "wow, not only does Jason board a crusie ship -- he even spends some time in Manhattan at the end!".

But yeah, Part 8 was a misfire in that regard. And it grossly stereotypes New Yawkers, and was mostly filmed in Canada and back alleys, NOT in NYC!

Jason Takes A Cruise To Vancouver. I'm pretty sure that there's only two (!) scenes that were actually shot in New York City for a total of about a minute and a half of screen time in a movie called Jason Takes Manhattan.

Had a great teaser though

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

Personally I think Jason belongs in the woods, lurking, keeping out of site, popping out from wherever.

That's why the first four were the scariest.

When Jason became the unstoppable, hulking Terminator-wannabe who you always see walking around they became far less scary.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

I still can't believe that I actually paid to see part 8 in theaters lol. If I ever meet any of you face to face you have my express permission to slap the shit out of me lol.

I remember that teaser very well, David, it's what got me excited to see it in the first place.

went to MTV webisite but apparently video can only be seen from the US. WTF is up with that? Since when is Canada a third world country?

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

I agree, the FRIDAY 8 teaser trailer was superb! I recall seeing it before the movie opened... it really had me psyched. Too bad the finished product didn't turn out as well.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

Nice shot. Reminds me of the bad Halloween ripoff called The Demon. That one had a dude in dark clothing, undetailed face, with a glove/short blades (predating Nightmare on Elm Street) smothering people with plastic bags (NOT predating Black Christmas). Bad movie...but it had a few shots like this that looked okay.

I'm not quite confident this is going to be any good but I'll definitely go see it. It will be the first F13th I've ever seen in the cinema.

Apparently Jason didn't really drown but instead just ran away and hooked up with a steroids dealer.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

I'm liking those pics ... looks like Jason's been living in the woods all his life, scavangering everything he's wearing.

Also, I'm interested in this one as it's being touted as a remake / sequel all in one. As I understand it, they're not retelling any of the earlier films, but starting over from the idea that Jason exists, and has been murdering teens at Crystal Lake for years.

Since the Paramount era of F13 are some of my favorites, I am more than happy with this "requel" approach.

Bring this one on ... make Jason scary again!

Those pics are sweet, nice to see that they made him appear like the backwoods, redneck mutant freak that he is lol.

Agreed! I also like that they've given him his 'toolbelt' back. A nice little nod to Jason Lives.

I'll be really curious to see how this film handles the atmosphere of Crystal Lake. I really hope the try to recreate the look and feel of parts 1-4 in this respect. If they can nail that ... I really think this will be a worthy entry in the series.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

The thing that made the atmosphere work for me in those first few films was the music of Harry Manfredini.

I always said that Rob Zombie making Michael Myers an aggressive brute in his remake was a mistake because it just didn't fit that character, Jason on the other hand is suited for that and so I hope they make him as angry and violent as they possibly can lol.

I'm liking those shots too. It's a shame they can't get this out by October.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

Manfredini's music went a long way towards establishing the atmosphere of those earliesst films, I'll agree.

But more than that, I loved the way in which those films took advantage of their isolated, woodsy locations. It definitely heightened the tension in the suspense scenes, but it also went a long way towards setting mood in the daylight scenes as well.

Both of those elements combined make up so much of what I associate F13 with, and I would be the happiest person ever if they can nail that in the new film.

Everything I've heard (and now seen) tells me that their heart is in the right place. I just hope they don't try and make the teen fodder too "hip" or annoying.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!

I also meant to comment that I too am glad that the belt is back, my all time favorite Jason is CJ Graham's in part VI and i'm one of few who actually like the utility belt hehe.

BTW, who's playing Jason? I hope it isn't Kane Hodder, i've always found him to be far too large.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see that a guy named Derek Mears is playing him, never heard of him but he is one spooky lookin' sum bitch...

Actually, I hope the teens are annoying -- that'll make me enjoy it even more when Jason slaughters 'em!

Also -- as a huge fan of the original series who saw each film in the theater from Part 2 onward, I think those photos ARE awesome, and this looks to be in good hands.
