Rebecca Mader is very hot. Loved her in Justice. She's has kind of a Nicole Kidman thing going which is very good in my book.

Meanwhile, back at the Mythbusters' lab...

The serendipity of life is oftentimes amazing.

At work today my attention is caught by a comely young woman on a TV screen in my office. I stop to pay attention when a co-worker says, "yeah, she's hot."

I say, "who is it?"

"She's the star of this show called Mythbusters."

"No kidding?! I've never seen the show, but I've heard a lot about her. Now I can see why!"



The episode I saw a portion of today had something to do with using 2-liter soda bottles as rockets.

I'm pretty sure the clip itself was faked, and the Mythbuster's calculations based on tests of the maximum mass that number of soda bottles would loft suggests that they were way under the minimum needed to even get the guy off the ground, much less hurl him out into the lake. There's also the almost insoluable matter of simultaneously relasing the stoppers on all or nearly all of the bottles to acheive lift-off. There are too many cuts and different angles in the original clip, all of which make it easy to hide trickery. After a couple of test shots with a dummy, the Mythbusters themselves decided not to have Kari try it, and I think that was a wise decision.

Do we know, for sure, that's really her? There's an awful lot of face coverage.

New York magazine (which I wasn't sure was still in business) seems like an odd place for such photos. (No, I'm not thinking of New Yorker.)

New York magazine is still very much in business, and doesn't really strike me as an odd place for these photos at all. And yes, it is definitely Lohan, as seen in the full slide show.

One of the few bright spots in a day spent home with the flu was catching a rerun of the Mythbusters episode where Kari donned the "flesh-colored" body suit to have her butt laser-scanned into a computer. (They were testing a myth about a heavy-set passenger getting stuck to an airline toilet seat. Once the scan was done Kari manipulated the image to make her butt much bigger and "saggier" so could make a suitable mold from it.) All I can say is that the clip posted earlier does not do her justice. You really need to see it in HD on a 56" screen from about 8 feet away. Heck, on the YouTube clip you can't even see the outline of the thong she's wearing under that body suit.

Everytime I see that clip I'm reminded of this exchange from the M*A*S*H episode, "Hepatitis":

[Margaret drops her pants so Hawkeye can give her a shot]

Hawkeye: Oh, Margaret, can I pause on this occasion to express a few thoughts?
Margaret: If you say ONE WORD--
Hawkeye: I wouldn't, not a word. But if I did that word would be MAGNIFICENT! Would that be bad?
Margaret: Just give me the shot!
