'Attack of the Clones' is still the best mainstream flick I've seen on IMAX, but I'm a Star Wars geek so I'm a bit biased.

Im a sw geek too. but i think batman begins was better.

Re: Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix discussion...

I might feel that way if I had seen BB on IMAX, something I'm still quite bummed about to be honest with you.

The new trailer for Harry Potter 5 goes a long wain in reinforcing that WB has gone a long way into making this episode have more of a big-summer-popcorn-movie feel to it. The length was shortened and the action amped up. If the movie under-performs like 'Prisoner' did in its summer release, it won't be for lack of trying on WB's part.

Personally, I think 'Phoenix' will end up being one of the franchise's bigger hits.

It's a pretty great trailer. A LOT of subliminal shots in there, too, chock full of great stuff. I love Yates' purple skies on nights of important events.

Re: Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix discussion...

They worked for me. Opens up quicktime directly.

Great trailer. I just took a long long loonnnng road trip so took along the audio books of the first 4 Harry Potter's. First off, highly recommended. Jim Dale does such an awesome job especially with all of the voices of each character. Made the 3600 miles fly by. This was my first adventure into the actual books as my only Harry Potter experience came from the movies. I was really surprised how closely the first two movies followed the books. The third one as well with a few things absent. I'm still only halfway through the 4th. But going through the books like this really got me excited about the Potter universe. I'm going to watch the movies again right now, and may actually have to get the last 3 books.

...as books?

Adam, here's a direct link to the 720P version of the trailer:

Could the problem be that Yahoo uses QTL files instead of direct MOV files?

Actually probably as audio cd again. They are so well done and make hourly drives quite enjoyable. Better than listening to the same songs on the radio over and over.

Re: Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix discussion...

Very nice trailer indeed.

And Terry, my Star Wars partner...I really didn't care for AOTC Imax. Just too much was cut out. I know that's heresy and I might get expelled from the order for saying such. ...but I made up for that in other trips to the cinema that year.

This is the same opening weekend that Dead's Man Chest had last summer too I think? It does look like it's going to be a big one.

Re: Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix discussion...

I second the resounding endorsement of the audiobooks, they are a terrific whether or not you've read the series. for me Dahl is the definitive reader of Harry Potter, just superb.

In fact I"ll probably buy both the regular HC and the audio cds on July 21st, I was going to get the deluxe edition, then found out it was printed on paper of less quality than the regular edition (though more recycled so it's greenfriendly, which is good as well) and felt it was something of a ripoff in that respect. I'm compromising by buying the audio. I plan on reading through the book inside 48 hours and then enjoying the next two-four weeks of commutes by taking a leisurely journey through the audio book.

And that link did the trick, thanks!

Re: Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix discussion...

Impressive trailer, "epic" is right. Still, I mostly hope the psychic connections and occlumency lessons (my favorite aspects of the books) translate correctly onto the screen. Mostly, it is the is the repressive, paranoid feel that I will be looking for, moreso than anything epic (that was Goblet).

Re: Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix discussion...

I was watching "Ellen" today over my TV tuner, and she mentioned there'd be a "Harry Potter" clip so I recorded it and put it up on YouTube:

Re: Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix discussion...

I happened to tape "Heroes" tonight since I was out celebrating my birthday, and one of the commercial breaks featured a new OOTP TV spot. I posted it to YouTube:

Sorry the quality isn't the best; it's from a VHS tape.

Re: Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix discussion...

WOW. Imelda Staunton is ten times better as Umbridge than I thought she'd be and I thought she'd be great.

Cannot wait for this movie!

I think Harry Potter fans just died and went to heaven. A Harry Potter THEME PARK is coming!

This is news? I've been following the MuggleNet fan site and they've been talking about this for at least three weeks, as it will be a expansion to Universal Studios Florida theme park.

Yes, it's news for casual fans who have neither the time nor the inclination to troll dedicated websites. Thanks David!

I've always thought that movie-themed parks are an untapped resource.

Would personally love to see a Star Wars themed park.

Re: Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix discussion...

It sort of seems to cheapen the whole affair, from my point of view. Not that I wouldn't visit in a heartbeat if I happened to be near Orlando once it opens...

I don't like the posters that emphasize the wands. It just looks stupid. Oh, a stick!

Re: Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix discussion...

First listen of the soundtrack is up. Spoilers in track listings but if you've read the book, there's really nothing to be spoiled.
