I absolutely loved this hilarious show and was really disappointed when it was cancelled.

Awe. Some.

This, folks, was funny, funny stuff - Darren Starr's willingness to bite the hand that had fed him very, very well was something to behold, the show was blackly hilarious and sometimes disarmingly sweet.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

I never expected this to get released.

I was surprised when I saw this on David's list. I remember seeing "Grosse Pointe" on the WB. I don't know if I would buy it, but I'll consider it. Will the cast be involved in the commentary tracks? (Especially Kyle Howard, and Lindsay Sloane? I would love to see him comment on his role.)

Oh my God! I never expected to see this show even discussed in a forum, let alone see it come to DVD! Wow. So friggin' unexpected.
So,who's character was everyone's favourite? Mine was the girl who played Valerie in Sabrina-the Teenage Witch (I can't even remember her name!)
Great news! All that voting for it must have helped guys!

Lindsay Sloane played Valerie on "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch". I don't remember her character's name in this show. As for my favorite character, it was Dave (Kyle Howard).

That's right, Marcy was the character Lindsay Sloane played. I just looked it up.

This is a pleasant surprise. The show was just beginning to catch on and they cancelled it! I hate the WB...! (Well I hate FOX too for the same reason). My favorite character was Dave because that was basically my life; I actually used to do extra work and stand-in work on Melrose Place and 90210, among other things. This show was REAL close to home for me!

Loved this and its been on my wishlist of unreleased things that i want. I have all the episodes on tape but so excited for dvd release if even it is Sony.

Thanks for finding out Lindsay Sloane's name Chris! I hope that she does a commentary track on it. It would be great!

As I mentioned in my news, in Grosse Pointe Lindsay Sloane plays "Marcy Sternfeld/Kim Peterson".

Every time I hear Tom Jones sing "Sex Bomb" I think of that show!

I got an e-mail update about Grosse Pointe almost four days ago from TVshowsOnDVD.com and finally got around to reading it.

The synopsis in the body of the e-mail said, "Sony has pulled the series off the schedule." Then of course it prompts you to click the link to check out the full news on the site. The link is dead though, and it seems like the news item no longer exists. It's "News ID" in the link is 5040. There's a 5039 (the Star Trek: TNG news) and 5041 (The Triange mini-series news), but no 5040. No Grosse Pointe news.

Anyone know what's up with that?
The news items said that the release had been delayed but not cancelled so not to worry. I don't know why the link is suddenly broken. Try it later or email them.

Sony asked us to pull the info back off the site for a bit, because they belatedly realized that they had not yet informed everybody behind-the-scenes who needed to be told about the change. They certainly didn't want those people finding out about it "in the media". In short, the set is delayed for now, no new date yet. We'll re-post the news soon, and post the new date when we get it. Sorry for the confusion.

David- any word on who's on the commentarys?
-James
I probably won't get a chance to find out until the new date is set and the info about the set is reposted at Sony's password-protected press site.
Oh. Okay. Thanks anyway.

NOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo
Why would they do that?

Bastards!

(Can I say that here?)

I wanted to preorder it at the same time as Murder She Wrote Season 3.... but wasn't sure if it was still coming...

I have been waiting for this brilliant show for ages!
I am so sad I am gonna have a krispy kreme to cheer me up!

I wasn't going to say anything, but this has got me pissed. Sony better have a damn good reason for canceling "Grosse Pointe".
Please bear in mind that this is not any sort of official announcement. It might just mean that it's delayed. It's still listed at Amazon.
We already had an official announcement that it was going to be delayed, but not that it would be cancelled. They've already done the box art and everything.
There wasn't an official announcement, to the best of my recollection. TVShowsonDVD posted an article about a possible delay, but removed it rather quickly due to a request by Sony. I think.

Anyhoo. Amazon have changed the released date for this to 50 years in the future. So I guess they got wind of the delay too.

I guess it's goners. Music licensing probably. The karaoke scene with "I got you babe" immediately comes to mind.
No, this isn't gone, and there wasn't a problem with the music. They've delayed it for some marketing reason. I'm not familiar with the show, or the cast, but does anyone have a movie coming out in the near future?

Irene Molly (Hunter) hasn't done any TV since Andy Richter Controls the Universe, no film roles either. She is into music though. Not sure if she has a CD or has put a band together, whether she's a solo artist...

Lindsay Sloane (Marcy) is still busy with stuff.

Al Santos has got a couple horror movies coming out this year. One of them looks like it might be theatre-worthy, so maybe they're banking on that tie-in for Grosse Pointe

Bonnie Somerville (Courtney) has had arguably the most successful post-Grosse Pointe career, what with a few small roles in major feature films, a recurring guest spot on The O.C. in its first season, as a main cast member on NYPD Blue in its final season last year, and on the recently cancelled Fox series Kitchen Confidential. She also contributed a song to the Zach Braff/Natalie Portman/Peter Sarsgaard film Garden State.

Kohl Sudduth (Quentin) has played a supporting character in a series of Tom Selleck movies these past couple years.

Kyle Howard (Dave The Stand-In) has kept very busy since Grosse Pointe went off the air in 2001. He's had a bit on Friends, was in the Colin Hanks/Jack Black flick Orange County, had a 3-episode recurring guest spot on Boston Public, two episodes of Providence, two for What I Like About You, four for The Drew Carey Show, was a regular on the one-season WB sitcom Run of the House, one episode of Nip/Tuck, a bunch more one-time TV show guest spots, and is currently a recurring guest star on the WB sitcom Related.

I'm only basing all this on a quick IMDB search (the actors' profiles/resumes could be incomplete due to it being dependant on fans submitting info) and a visit to some of their official sites/message boards. Some of them might have done/might be doing indie films that aren't listed, many of them are probably doing stage work, and it's possible some may've moved on from acting (I didn't bother looking up the other three principles like the guy who played Kevin, the PA who kept getting dumped on).

Thanks Gord. I'm trying not to loose hope.
