Howard Not on Sirius Canada?

I got this from another board.
Quote:
This message goes out to all Canadian Stern fans that were looking forward to hearing Howard on Sirius in January 2006, after Sirius Canada’s official launch here in the Great White North in about two weeks.

It seems the president and CEO of Sirius Canada has decided not to include Howard 100/Douche 100 among the list of Sirius channels available to Canadians. No official reason has been given, but today’s Globe and Mail suggests the decision was due to the Sirius Canada’s belief that Howard Stern doesn’t have any fans in Canada.

Part of this misconception comes from the time Howard was airing on Toronto radio, and local listeners decided to catch the show out of Buffalo because it wasn’t as chopped up by Canadian censors.

Let’s prove the president and CEO of Sirius Canada wrong.

I invite all Canadian Howard Stern fans on this board to head over to the following link and sign the petition that will be delivered to Sirius Canada before they go live. There’s still hope and there’s still time:

http://petitiononline.com/sterncan/petition.html

And if you could pass this link on to anyone you know of that is a Stern fan in Canada who may not be a member of this board that would be great too.

And if you don’t think these petitions work, a petition I organized a few weeks back helped make up both the Comedy Network and CTV’s mind about bringing The Colbert Report to Canada. It starts airing this Monday.

So let’s get organized, and let’s tell Sirius Canada that we’ll only subscribe if they include Howard Stern.

Wow, that's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

I agree.
and even if he ever does get on Sirius Canada, the chances that it'll actually be uncensored are slim to nil.

Same goes for Direct TV/USA...you can't get it if you are out of satelite range. Only Canadian towns near the US border can get Sirius...

Do Canadian censors have the legal right to chop up or block something that you pay for?

Howard Not on Sirius Canada?

I don't get why O&A are going to be allowed to air in Canada but not Howard. How backwards is that?

Apparently, yes. They'd rather steal our money then let us listen to something that 1 person might find offensive.

It seems like it's because Howard is in the spotlight and O&A are not.

Howard had some pretty nasty things to say about Canada when he first came on the air in Montreal and Toronto, leading to his almost immediately being put off the air in Montreal. Howard's long stated hatred of everything French (including Celine Dion) is legendary - "Toulouse-Lautrec is a troll", "the Eiffel Tower is ugly", "occupied France worked harder for the Germans than the native Germans did" - all quotes from Howard. This attitude and the statements he made in the press conference during his initial airing in Canada sparked a feud between Howard and some Canadian officials. This is probably why our neighbors to the north will not be hearing him on the Sirius Canada stations.

If you are in Canada and want to hear Stern, all you have to do is buy your equiptment from the US. Many people are doing it and they can now receive Howard's channels with no problems.

Rumor is that Stern will eventually be available in Canada, but for a fee.
