Kain,

Please continue to keep us
informed of any problems you
may be experiencing.

Parker is fixing all the "bugs"
as he sees them.

The other argument is that the forum runs very well with this software. Our members like it and they don't want us fixing anything that isn't broke

The software crashing the forums is a problem to be sure. As far as the look of the forum is concerned, any specific reason why you chose to go with the user name/information along the top scheme instead of on the side as it is now? That was the most problematic aspect of the upgrade for me, as I personally find that setup to be both unattractive, and more difficult to read through.

I use the latest version of the vbulletin software on my own forums, and that is changeable.

I think the main reason for the upgrade was always supposed to be that the Search function would finally work as something other than a backscratcher.
That's the big thing I was waiting for; I didn't like some of the other changes too much, but they would probably have been tweaked eventually, and if the Search function had been more functional it would have been worthwhile. As it was, the Search function didn't work at all, not even with one-word terms, during the entire "Upgraded" period.

Not to beat a dead horse, but if you guy's do attempt the upgrade again, please, be sure to eliminate that incredibly annoying email notification system, I can't tell you how much I hated it.

That feature wasn't an upgrade, it was most certaintly a major step down. Okay, last time I mention it, I promise.

Folks,

Before another attempt at upgrade is done, I think you may want to hold off on this. There has been a number of serious issues I've seen (and other users have seen) with Firefox 1.5 not working correctly accessing an online messagboard using vBulletin 3.5.1; I believe that both the Mozilla Foundation and Jelsoft are aware of this and are working on fixes to this problem. Interestingly, under Firefox 1.0.7 the vBulletin 3.5.1 software worked fine.

Weird. More problems as of now? I can't seem to start new threads anymore.

And I noticed that every post now has an ad underneath it.

Hmmmm...

I was playing around with the software.

I am not sure but I beleive the issue with vBulletin on our site was due to the search index. I wanted to use the index built into MySQL but that kept killing the post table and running the max connections up in a matter of seconds.

Some people liked the two column layout like we have it now and some liked the more linear layout.

Ray Chuang:

That is good to know as I make sure as much as possible that whatever vBulletin we are running it is compatible with the other browsers out there.

Believe me I asked for the work around for it as I knew it be a big deal with a lot of members and nobody responded to my inquiries.
