Back to original software I see?

Thread Starter
I have to say, while I liked some of the look of the new software, I couldn't log in, and it kept timing out on me all over the place. I'm sure most of those were temporary issues.

But it's good to see hometheaterforum.com resolve itself and respond again!

I wonder what happened. If I go to
http://www.hometheaterforum.com/

I get

It seems that this old software area doesn't have any posts since the new software started. So, maybe we aren't supposed to be here right now?

I agree, it's like coming home again!

Hopefully, whatever ends up happening, it works out for the best.

We had some problems with the new software and our server so to get the forum back online we made a decision to revert back to the old software.

Parker and Ron will be along to make the appropriate announcements, so please, be patient with us as we try to resolve this situation. Thank you.

Yeah, I think the new software crashed, and they brought back the old just to be up and running again. Notice no new posts since the 3rd now.

Hope they can figure out what happend.

Damn. I picture poor Parker with a hot water bottle on his head and a big jar of aspirin at his side.

As many of your are aware and many of you found out over the past two days our attempt to upgrade our software failed with the new software crashing the server over and over. Due to this fact we have decided to return to the old software.

Any messages that were attempted to be posted and any usernames that were submitted to join us will have to be done so again.

We will be staying with the old software for some time.

We apologize for the down type and for the hassle. We appreciate your patience in this matter.

Thanks,
Parker, Ron and the entire HTF Staff.

I picture the giant hand from The Castle of Otranto reaching down and pressing the "RESET" button.

So, what's with the Flash version? I haven't tried that link, and I'm wondering what's really on the other side.

I'm really sorry you guys went to all that trouble for nothing.
Sorry to hear of the troubles.

Damn I thought I was gonna die. Funny how we take stuff for granted. Glad to have HTF back.

After using the new software I much prefer this/old style.

Isn't that the truth. Having a couple days with no home theater forum reminded me just how much of a wonderful resource it truly is.
Keep up the great work, Parker and Ron, and thanks for one of my very favorite places on the web.

Ditto.

No. Thank all of you for putting up with all this over the past several days.

Just wanted to say thanks to Ron and Parker and the HTF Staff for all their efforts. I can't imagine it was much fun to deal with all the problems and I'm sure there was alot of disappointment with the project not going smoothly. Take a nice long break and know that you are very much appreciated by the members!
Ahh, this old format is just sooooo much nicer! Glad to have you back!
I was going through HTF withdrawals yesterday! Glad to have you guys back.

I'll say this old format is "comfortable"...like an old well-worn robe.

But I continue to look forward to the new software when things can get worked out. There was a lot of good stuff there...and I was already getting used to it. I think its going to be great!

The important thing...as others have already noted...is that the HTF continues to operate.

Right. We really needed to get used to the new software. It looked like it had some nice capabilities.

It is very good that HTF was able to revert back to the old software after a short hiatus due to the software/server problems.

Amen to that!

The new software had its pluses, but what I like about this is that the content is in it's own column seperate from user names and post times. Much less visual parsing has to be done with this "old" style.

Thanks for the efforts.

Agreed!

And what a great time of the year to wear that "comfortable" robe.

I'll really be able to get into the old HTF spirit for the Holidays.

I agree with the "liked the old look better" crowd.
Glad to have it back.

So sorry, Ron and Parker, that the new upgrade didn't pan out.

While I did like the new look of the brief upgrade, one feature that I rely on a lot is post-by-post email notification system and the new software didn't offer that, glad to have it restored.

Thanks for bringing it back, i'd spring for vacations for both of you if I could afford it.

Ron and Parker: Sorry that all of your efforts with the new software were wasted this time out...I know you both must be quite disappointed. Best of luck if/when you decide to try again.

That being said, though, I gotta admit that I'm sorta glad to have the old comfortable surroundings back...
I will agree that I prefer this old software, but I would rather get used to the new stuff than to see Parker's long, hard work have to be rolled back. Hopefully, the experience will make the next upgrade go more smoothly.
Woohoo! While I feel bad about the wasted time trying to upgrade, I was excited when I saw this version back!
I also love this old look and have no problem with it and find it sufficient.
