Guitar Hero PS2 - Page 3

Re: Guitar Hero PS2

I got to play GH2 in Circuit City today, and YYZ was one of the songs that I played, that and Shout at the Devil. I am told I have to wait until Christmas before I can go buy it...bummer.

Re: Guitar Hero PS2

I am afeared that my copy is going to be delayed. 2 days ago, the tracking message was "information has been given to the USPS that your product is being delivered." The other item that I ordered didn't get that message until yesterday, and today that one says "arrived at a partner shipping facility in Kentucky." GHII still says "info given to USPS."

Re: Guitar Hero PS2

Still nothing?

As for the slowdown, I think it's more like choppiness. But my brother (who has his own copy and a pretty new PS2) says he's experienced it too. We both agree that it's not really that common; it's more of a minor quibble. Another quibble is with the packaging. You probably saw it at the store. Whereas the GH1 bundle came in a nice box, the GH2 bundle comes in a white cardboard box with a printed slip cover. Cheap!

Well, I have had issues with the new guitar. The first one i could hardly ever get the star power to activate. The 2nd one activates it almost automatically. if i hold the guitar completely level it will not go off but if i move it slightly, it goes off.. the old controller for gh1 does not do this at all... anyone else have any issues with the new red controller?
I'd been playing with my old controller, but I tried the new one once last night. The star power activiation may have been slightly more sensitive, but it didn't go off at all like how you were describing. Maybe you could return/exchange it?

Well, my copy of Karaoke Revolution Party showed up yesterday and is listed as Delivered in the package tracking, which is now showing GH2 as having "Arrived in Boynton Beach" at 8:07 this morning, so hopefully GH2 got delivered today.

What kind of box did your GH1 come in? Mine was in a plain white cardboard box with a printed slipcover. (Granted, the white cardboard box was pretty sturdy.) In the end I just ordered the game-only version of GH2, since my wife didn't seem all that interested in playing. I got her the Desperate Housewives PC game instead.

Unfortunately, it may be a few days before I actually have any time to play it. . .

Re: Guitar Hero PS2

That's good news! And bad news! Sorry. I've barely been able to play beyond getting through each main song once, plus I have a still unopened copy of Gears of War that I got last Wednesday. Why do I wait until the end of the semester to do term papers?

My GH2 box sounds like your GH1 box; my GH1 box was like this- imagine your GH1 plain white cardboard box, except with the slick printing directly on that instead of on a slip cover, and it was maybe a little sturdier than the plain white box. Much nicer, I thought. Classy.

I only like classy things. Like Pour Some Sugar on Me. That's a classy song.

Re: Guitar Hero PS2

I prefer Photograph, myself.

I did manage to play about a half-dozen tunes last night. Then I fell asleep after putting the baby to bed instead of watching that next DVD I'm supposed to review. . .

Re: Guitar Hero PS2

A few siblings and I are getting GH 1 and 2 (with 2 guitars) for my sister for her birthday. She doesn't play video games at all, but she really enjoys GH (and Wii bowling).

By the way, Toys R Us is doing a sale through Saturday for the GH2 bundle with an extra (official) guitar controller for $100. It's not a super great deal, but it's something.

And I've finished GH2 on expert. Some of the songs are pretty hard. Is it just me, or do the trill parts in Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You seem a bit off? I can't seem to get it right, even after much more practice time than I should have spent. And when I slow the speed down, the game notes don't seem to match the notes playing through the audio. Maybe that's why I can't get it right. Anyway, I'm trying to 5-star the songs on expert now (with what very little time I have to play). I think I've got 10 or 11 of them.

Re: Guitar Hero PS2

Looks like the rumors of an Iron Maiden track weren't entirely without basis. . .The Trooper looks to be an XBox exclusive track. ( for XBox owners, I suppose.)

Re: Guitar Hero PS2

Ah, well. I don't think I can justify picking up the 360 version.

On a happy note, the new EGM states that GH2: 1980s Edition will be released for the PS2 in "Spring 2007" (which might translate into "summer"; I'm not sure if spring really means spring). I haven't found any info on included songs.

Re: Guitar Hero PS2

Huzzah! They've announced a few tracks from the upcoming (summer sometime) Guitar Hero Rocks the '80s:

I Wanna Rock (by Twisted Sister)
I Ran (by Flock of Seagulls)
Round and Round (as made famous by Ratt)
I Want Candy (as made famous by Bow Wow Wow)
Metal Health (as made famous by Quiet Riot)
Holy Diver (as made famous by Dio)
Heat Of The Moment (as made famous by Asia)

Not too shabby. There had BETTER be some Maiden in there though! (And some more Rush.)

Re: Guitar Hero PS2

They've announced a few more tracks for GH '80s edition, but nothing that blew me away (I remember 18 And Life by Skid Row, a Poison tune, something by Extreme -- the list is up to 14 now).

They've also officially announced GH3 for PS2, PS3, X360, and Wii. Some of the tracks mentioned are Paint It Black, Barracuda, Cult of Personality, Slow Ride, Cherub Rock, School's Out, and a couple others that weren't quite as exciting.

Re: Guitar Hero PS2

I'm pretty excited about this, but $50 seems a bit steep. Am I crazy or did they sometime in the past say it'd only be $40 since it was an expansion?

Plus, I haven't heard anything about bonus tracks (unlockable, smaller bands) - and I like having those. Some end up being really good (and fun) songs, and they add a bit of value to the package.

$50 is just too much for only 30 songs.
