Crumb S.E. in 2006

For the second time in two weeks, Roger Ebert reveals that a S.E. is coming in 2006. This time, it's a S.E. of Crumb, Terry Zwigoff's film from 1994.

Basically, all that is known at this point is that there will be a conversation/commentary with Roger Ebert and R. Crumb on the new DVD.

I'll be picking this up since I know the conversation will be worth the price of the disc alone.

Great news, and thanks for the heads up! Just the other day I was complaining to myself about not having this film.

One question, though: what was the other S.E. announced by Ebert?

I just picked up the previous release on a "2 for $12" deal. I guess I'll skip watching it and wait for this.

I put off purchasing this for almost five years, and less than a month ago I finally broke down and picked it up.

Oh well, as long as the price is reasonable (The old disc was not), then I'll probably double-dip.

I believe that would be the upcoming Dark City director's cut SE, as he (Ebert) updated his commentary from the previous DVD for this new version.

I'll be getting this. Crumb is a facinating documentary if just for showing the life of an cartoonist that's surreal.

Thanks for the news, I've been on the lookout for Crumb since watching American Splendor.

Re: Crumb S.E. in 2006

Is 1.33:1 the correct aspect ratio?

Re: Crumb S.E. in 2006

Was Crumb a TV documentary? If so, that ratio is probably the right one.

Great film. A little depressing. I only have a VHS of it since I don't watch it often.

Nobody know the answer to this?

@Rob

I looked it up on imdb.com and it was a theatrical release so most likely it was a widescreen film.

Re: Crumb S.E. in 2006

The DVD's 1.33 aspect ratio is correct.

Re: Crumb S.E. in 2006

The newer DVD actually loses the trailer from the previous one but if you're a Zwigoff fan you probably own "Art School Confidential" which includes that trailer so in that case it's a no-brainer. I haven't even listened to the commentary yet but between the new "Crumb" and "ASC" the old disc is completely obsolete.
