Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

I too hope they release the new version of the show also.

Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

There's a report that Hawaii Five-0 season 6 comes out in April. Seems they've been putting out Mission Impossible a month before Jack Lord and the boys. So hopefully America will get the next season in March.

Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

Fine by me- I'm looking forward to the "Casey years", even when Lynda Day George was pregnant and Barbara Anderson played Mimi! A definite improvement over Seasons 4 and 5. Of course the problem here was that the producers ran out of foreign countries to invent and began having a 'mobster of the week' instead.

Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

Update on Season 6:

"Lars-Erik Wikberg has written to say that the official Scandinavian release date for season 6 is June 24th. That should mean that it also will be released about the same time in other region 2 countries."

Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

Provisional front cover artwork for Season 6 was posted on Gnudawn last week. It was in small size, so seeing the larger front cover artwork on TVShowsOnDVD was great. Wish they could have used the Season 6 promo images printed in the Complete Mission: Impossible Dossier book and on Gnudawn.

Link below to the TVShowsOnDVD news article with the larger front cover artwork for Season 6:

*****

Bought the Region 2 DVD boxset of Season 5 yesterday. The box is a plastic DVD like the Season 2 boxset of The Invaders on Region 1. There are the same pictures from some of the episodes on the inside of the DVD sleeve, as on the three separate DVD sleeves from the Region 1 boxset. Trouble is they've had to shrink the images to make them fit on the one DVD sleeve.

Is it cheaper to release DVD boxsets in the plastic boxes compared to the cardboard boxes? CBS/Paramount DVD boxsets are being mostly released as plastic DVD boxes in the UK. The pre-order prices on Play.com are more cheaper now. Must be because CBS/Paramount R2 DVD releases are being released in plastic boxes now.

Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

Just found out whilst searching for old TV shows on DVD that Season 6 of Mission: Impossible is coming out in the UK in May (Monday 18th May), only three months after Season 5. The URL link to the listing page is below:

Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

I like the box art, glad it's the same style as the previous sets. I'm looking forward to picking up this set. I still haven't purchased season 5 yet, though. This is such a great series,I plan to guy all sets for the original series

April 28 is definitely the release date. Amazon has it up for preorder. Just ordered mine & now am looking forward to getting it & a late year release of season 7. Then hopefully next year we'll get the 2 ABC seasons released. Can't get enough of MI!

Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

I wonder if they will sell the 2 seasons from the 80s as season 8 and 9?

I really hope so. I have most of the episodes on vhs tape. But, they are not that good. We need a Paramount chat to ask.

Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

I never saw the 80s version. I would love to see it.

I remember watching this one when it aired but haven't seen any since then. As an original M:I fan, I can say that the 80's version was surprisingly good, imo. Others will have to correct me on this one as it's from 80's memory, but I think Peter Graves was in the 80's version as was Greg Morris' son.

Yes, the first episode showed the current head of the IMF killed on assignment, and his mentor, Mr. Phelps, coming out of retirement.

Later on, Greg Morris appeared in his old role as Barney, as did Lynda Day as Casey.

For the most part, though, the young "kids" were directed by Peter Graves as the head of this IMF team.

The show was reserrected during a writers' strike, and they actually re-did stories from the earlier incarnation of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE. A memorable one was "The Killer" re-done with John DeLancie in the Robert Conrad role.

I liked the update to the theme music too - available on a soundtrack CD.

Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

Some new news was posted on the Gnudawn website for the Mission: Impossible TV series in the past week about Season 7. Season 7 of the original Mission: Impossible will be released in Scandinavia in October. So hopefully Season 7 will be out on Region 1 and 2 around September or October. Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

As we wandered around in a Wal-Mart, I was surprised to see them carrying MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE Season Six, and at the reasonable price of $29.96. So I picked one up. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but given the track record these should all look and sound fine.

It was certainly a better price than I'd seen elsewhere this week.

Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

Season six is released in the UK a week on Monday. Can't wait to see it. I should get my copy in the post a week on Saturday. Normally new releases arrive in the post on the Saturday (or even earlier) before the release date.

EDIT: There is a clip from the season six episode "The Tram" on Play.com.

Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

A update on when the seventh and final season of Mission: Impossible might be coming out on Regions 1 & 2 was posted on Gnudawn, a Mission: Impossible fan site. On Paramount's Swedish website it has been posted on there that Season 7 will be released on 9th December. The link to the website is below:

Re: At long last, Mission: Impossible!

If you count the two seasons from 1980s, there are two more after this. Hope they put those out as well. Plus that website only talks about the Scandanavian set.

Season 7 has been announced for Region 1. The news was posted on TVShowsOnDVD.com yesterday. Large front cover artwork was posted as well. Mimi Davis (played by Barbara Anderson) is mentiioned but she isn't on the front cover (although Casey, played by Lynda Day George, appeared in more episodes in the seventh and final season). Nothing was mentioned about when (or if) the first season of Mission: Impossible 1988 is coming out from CBS/Paramount. The URL link to the news articoe is below:

Yeah I got my copy. I actually got it last Friday w/ the 2 Zorro Disney Treasure sets. I have watched the episodes "Speed" and "Two Thousand" and the quality of the remastering is just as good as the first six seasons.
