New spoiler code

Anyone having problems with it in Firefox? Sometimes when I click on to show the spoiler it does nothing. More often than not I can't see the spoilers

Same problem here.

I'm using Firefox (1.0.7). I only ran across one of the new spoiler tags today and it worked just fine.

But, then, I'm also using Windows ME.

I'm using Netscape 7.2, and the spoiler tags aren't working.

Worked that time.

Sorry to hear everyone is having trouble with the new spoiler tag. I tested it out in IE, Firefox 1.07, Netscape 8.0 and Opera 8.5 and it worked just fine.

I changed the code around a little. Does it work ok now?

Can you read me now?

That works fine. I like the idea of the button-operated spoilers, though. But, if they don't work universally, I can live with this close-to-the-old-way way.

Parker,

That works, though it looks similar to the old spoiler to me. The one that was working sporadically was the one with a button you'd click on.

I liked the buttons, too. The buttons worked for me.

Would the buttons have kept spoiler text from showing up on a cursor roll-over of a post preview?

In the giant Lost thread, it looks like posts that quote spoilers are actually revealing the spoiler...

I personally liked the buttons but several members said that they didn't work with their version of Firefox, Netscape and so forth.

Brian:

The spoiler is working just fine in that thread. I am not sure what you are seeing. The grey box is just for quoted text. The black box is the spoiler.

Parker, post 547 is the problem one.

Maybe it was just user error by the poster - the grey quote box beginning "he just escaped from some group..." is a spoiler and it looks like the poster meant for it to be blacked out too.

I liked the buttons too. I hope you can figure out a fix some day and bring them back.

The issue appears to be with the browser and not the code. The button doesn't appear to work in some earlier versions of Firefox and Netscape although it does work ok with the latest versions.
