TNA Impact! - Page 22

Re: TNA Impact!

Chris Harris seemed like he was getting a big push a while back but got shoved aside, and now Kaz seems to be replacing his spot.

Impact was alright. It needed more wrestling.

I really liked how they how other wrestlers commented on the women's match, and it was awesome how it was the main event.

Great, another Team 3D vs. MMG and Machismo at the PPV....

I'm liking how Crystal and JB are getting more involved in the backstage stuff, rather than just interviewing people.

I'm starting to like Tomko, but he needs new tights or something.

I hope AJ turns on Angle and reveals this stupid character was all an act. But I doubt that is what's planned.

I've enjoyed this feud so far, the match they had at Genesis in November was really good. The Ultimate X match last month was not a great Ultimate x match but it was still highlight worthy.

Former TNA Tag Champion gets in to and out of trouble

Reminder, tomorrow night after iMPACT is a special called Global iMPACT. It will feature the recent match in Japan between Kurt Angle and Yuji Nagata which is worth seeing.

Re: TNA Impact!

Global iMPACT thoughts

In short, I think this may have been the best hour of television TNA has ever done.

The reason is that there was no TNA booking involved. We had one pretty awesome match, and a bunch of guys talking about the importance of wrestling in Japan. Plus, Mike Tenay was allowed to be himself and spout out wrestling history like it was the alphabet without having to put over drinking contests as high-concept entertainment.

In news that directly relates to next week's episode of TNA iMPACT, TNA makes business deal with UFC
post #637 of 704

Re: TNA Impact!

I haven't watched the two Impacts yet, but I'm glad to read that Global was a really great show. That is what I was hoping for, based on the previews for it: no entertainment, just straight up wrestling in Japan. Can't understand why TNA just can't book straight wrestling anymore, even on the PPVs.

Vince Russo doesn't even know how to book straight wrestling, that's why he doesn't.

What you and I both ultimately can't understand is why he still has a job in wrestling.

Actually, what I ultimately can't understand is how so many people in the wrestling business can be so ignorant to the wrestling business which results in Vince Russo having a job in wrestling. I think that's the heart of the problem and to be honest it is one not exclusive to TNA.

TNA Global iMPACT replay

If you didn't see it, set a DVR, a VCR, whatever but this is worth the hour.

Re: TNA Impact!

It was a great show. Wish they had shown all the matches, but I guess that's for the DVD. With the language difference, I've always wondered how the wrestlers communicate with each other, and put on really good matches.

Yeah, the problem is why someone is hiring Russo. On this week's Impact, we got so many segments for the stupid Shark Boy angle. They are even acknowledging their own stupidty and waste of time because Chris Harris said so, or when Cornette blamed Morgan for the stupid gimmick matches. Why even air that stuff if they know it sucks? I don't get it.

Re: TNA Impact!

All the Global iMPACT matches will be on the DVD.

I watched and Live blogged tonight's iMPACT.

I have to say that while the Shark Boy thing is pretty lame, and even though they're already doing this with Jay Lethal/Randy Savage, Shark Boy does sound a lot like Steve Austin.

As for the question of how guys work with different languages, most wrestlers know enough English to get by and there are guys in the back that can translate if necessary in order to lay out matches ahead of time.

Re: TNA Impact!

I can tell you from personal experience of running a website that when Consequences Creed showed up at Bound for Glory, there was a lot of interest in him.

So then TNA for whatever reason didn't use him for awhile even though they quickly signed him to a contract based on that performance at BFG.

Well, he's finally coming back and as someone who has gotten to interview him and hopes to again soon, I couldn't be happier.

Re: TNA Impact!

Good to see Creed is still with TNA. Hopefully, they know how to use him.

Impact was alright. No good matches or anything, but all the entertainment parts were fine. Joe is finally getting over for me. I wasn't liking him since his shoot promo, but he came across as a bad ass instead of a whiner.

Shark Boy does do a good Stone Cold impersonation. I really dig his entrance music, as it sounds like Stone Cold's but still fits his shark gimmick.

Nice to see Lethal break out of the Machismo gimmick. There's something about Lethal's face or eyes that make him appear afraid of something.

Oh yeah, and Curry Man is awesome!

Former TNA Tag Champion signs with WWE

Honestly, no big loss for TNA here.

I shouldn't like the Sharkboy deal but I love it, I really really do.

Oh, and Tomko has won me over, when he first came to TNA I was not a fan.

Re: TNA Impact!

Jeez, I had no idea Daniels was Curry Man. That's really funny, and I'm going to be more entertained knowing that now.

Yeah, Tomko has been doing really well. I wondered why TNA hired him (same feeling I had for him as I do now for Matt Morgan) but he's won me over. I think he needs to work on his talking, and he needs to get longer tights.

Re: TNA Impact!

Well, since it is out in the open, yes Christopher Daniels is Curry Man. He's been doing that gimmick in Japan for years and years and it had always been asked of him if Curry Man would eventually make it to TNA.

I'm glad he has.

I was actually higher on Morgan than I was on Tomko at the point when both entered TNA. I thought Morgan got a Raw deal in WWE and was saddled with a horrible stuttering gimmick. Jim Cornette had Morgan in OVW, thought WWE called him up too soon but believed that if he were allowed to develop he'd be a main eventer of WrestleMania within 5 years.

Re: TNA Impact!

Either this is supposed to be a joke or TNA still hasn't learned its lesson.

If it is a joke, it really isn't all that funny.

Re: TNA Impact!

I've written a Preview for Sunday's PPV. It could be a fun show, it could bother me greatly but I won't know that until Sunday Night.

Re: TNA Impact!

As usual, we're going to have live coverage of tonight's TNA PPV. In something a bit different though, we have 2 reports

report 1 written by me will concentrate mainly on booking aspects and other parts of the event.

Report 2 written by my colleague will focus more on the play-by-play of matches and such, so check them both out.

If you're watching, enjoy the show I think it has the potential to be decent.

Re: TNA Impact!

Casey, have you heard any rumors about TNA wanting to go serious?

Tomko has been gaining a lot of momentum. I really hope they don't have him side with Angle. He should be on his own.

I saw Impact, or should I say fast forwarded through it. The best part of the show was Curry Man's entrance. How sad is that?

I just don't understand a lot of booking in TNA these days. The rat on the pole match was beyond lame. Any match involving animals should scream suck fest. Kaz was on a hot streak, so they decide to put him in an angle with Dustin? Makes no sense.

I'm glad the X-Division / Team 3D angle is over ... I hope it is. So all we get out of this angle is seeing Team 3D try lose weight in the next several weeks/months? Nothing new, or beneficial, occurred for the X Division guys. Lame.

Re: TNA Impact!

I have heard TNA wants to include more serious angles in storytelling. I have also heard that SpikeTV may want more Global iMPACT as they liked the first one.

Anyway, the reason I'm here TNA star is the next American Gladiator

Destination X live coverage

Enjoy...

Re: TNA Impact!

Well, TNA had their first live Impact last night. I thought they did a very good job with the show in terms of what they were able to plan out.

I would've liked the matches to be better, there wasn't anything great, but they were decent and I think all of them were clean.

There were some production problems, and too many shots of the crowd.

The fan voting was a great idea.

Booker T, Roode, and Sting seem to be the most energized about the live show.

I didn't know who that WWE wrestler was, but I'm gonna guess he'll be fired.

I'm liking the more serious segments of the show lately, like the Rough Cut with the New Age Outlaws and the build up for Joe vs. Angle.

James Storm coming out at the end was a nice surprise. I wonder who the 5th man will be on Cage's team? Abyss? JJ?

Overall, TNA did a really good job.

Re: TNA Impact!

I haven't watch this week's impact but I saw the one from last week and I forgot to comment on it. The "mma" segment with Kurt Angle was so strange.

When did they start running with that? Does it have anything to do with Angle's long desire to fight in the UFC?

Re: TNA Impact!

It just started last week and it was on last night's episode. Angle is just preparing for his match with Joe in a few weeks. I don't really care for it, but at least they are trying to make the match serious and show that Angle and Joe are really preparing for this match.

Re: TNA Impact!

But is the match with Joe using mma rules? Why the mma angle all of a sudden?

Re: TNA Impact!

No, it isn't MMA rules but it is going to be an MMA Style Pro Wrestling match. As for why they're trying it, probably because it is different from the same ol' same ol'. As long as it doesn't end with a choke slam it will be ions better than WWE's version of what MMA was on Raw a couple of weeks ago.

I hated the fan voting. Well, ok that's a little strong. I liked the idea of it until Booker cut his promo telling us what to vote for and not just because he wanted a first blood match and I hate that gimmick and always will.

I have more on the Robbie McAlister situation here he's the WWE guy that was in the crowd last night.

I liked that the main event was commercial free.

The crowd seemed energized last night, likely due to the first timers in the crowd that are in Orlando for Mania.

I'd like the Rough Cut segments more if it weren't the Old News Outlaws they were doing it for, but it is better than them wrestling every week.

The TNA site crashed during the show last night due to people trying to log on and vote.

Re: TNA Impact!

Tonight's iMPACT holds some personal interest for me. In the first match is the TV debut for Consequences Creed and if you remember, I got to interview him shortly after his Bound for Glory PPV debut.

That interview can be downloaded here . Austin was the first wrestler I had ever gotten to interview and because of that I'll remember him for a long time. Plus, he's a pretty cool dude to talk to about things.

So all of us connected with my site will be following his career now that he's finally made it to TNA TV.

I've heard his debut is kind of so-so but still I'm happy for the guy because I know how hard he has worked.

Re: TNA Impact!

For the first time in I don't even know how long, TNA has actually built up a show that I am genuinely looking forward to watching. The past few months, I've watched either out of obligation or habbit and I didn't even watch at all last month. That was the first of the TNA monthly PPV's I've ever skipped.

I've enjoyed the build to this one greatly though. Sure, there are still things I don't like, the Queen of the Cage concept springs immediately to mind, but there's more I want to see than I don't. They even did a decent job with Kip and B.G. James even though the match will probably stink.

I'm most looking forward to the main event of course, but the Xscape match and Lethal Lockdown have me interested as well.

We'll have live play-by-play on the site starting at 8:00 PM ET which you'll find here and for what it is worth which is probably not much, I have some predictions here

One nice thing about the show is that it will be in a packed house in front of a crowd I suspect will be hot and those make every PPV just that much better.

So if you're like me, and will be watching, enjoy the show. If not, maybe you'll read results and decide to take a flyer on the replay.
