TNA Impact! - Page 13

Yeah, I remember those but I was referring to a direct mention of his name and his company? I hadn't seen that until Rhino did it.

They have, 3D mentioned on the preshow of Slammiversary in June that the new ECW product sucked. When Christian joined TNA he made reference to the Dr. Hiney skit on Raw from a few weeks prior and bashed the WWE for that one.
Now having said that, this was the first time that TNA had devoted a whole segment to something like this on Impact, and is the most direct of all the references they've ever made. I used to think they referred to WWE way too often on their shows, hell the WWE was the focus of the James Gang/3D feud which was stupid for many reasons, but I won't get in to that. But that promo I liked because ECW has been terrible for the most part and if taking a shot like that can get TNA noticed a little then all the better for them.

Re: TNA Impact!

Exactly. And I believe Rhino can benefit greatly from such a great promo. He seemed to really go over with the fans (more than usual) after what he said and did with the ECW belt.

Re: TNA Impact!

There's no way WWE will acknowledge TNA directly. If they do, they're saying TNA is competition which they will never admit. Most you'll hear is the reference to the 6-Sided ring like Angle did in his 'open challenge.' Speaking of which, I thought it was tacky of Rhino to issue his own 'open challenge' then have to accepted by Monty seeing as how that's just like Orton accepting Angle's. If want to be different than Vince and Co. don't do the same lame things they do.

Re: TNA Impact!

Here's the thing about the open challenge, TNA and WWE had both better stop doing that.

There are those that believe, mainly because they've been tipped off to this fact, that one of these days WWE or TNA is going to issue one of those open challenges and someone from UFC is going to publicly accept.

And that's all it will take for the wrestling company to be embarrassed, a UFC fighter accepting an open challenge and the wrestling company not doing anything about it will get the absolute wrong kind of press, so no fight would have to actually take place for it to go badly.

Re: TNA Impact!

One of the best Impacts. Every segment was good ... well, maybe not the Zybysko and Slick Johnson one.

Loved the Paparazzi video. Wrestling from Madagascar? 2-sided ring? "Shut the front door!" "Hug me." Hilarious stuff! I need to watch it again.

2 good matches.

Naturals' new hair looks good, not as short as I thought it would be.

and to me you didn't even mention the best segment.

Re: TNA Impact!

Alright episode this week.

Another fun Paparazzi video. Casey, I'm starting to see what you've been complaining about.

Lynn smacking some personality into Sabin was interesting. I really hope they got something good planned for this whole angle.

Samoa Joe and Rhino was a let down.

I like how they're calling TNA the "#1 wrestling promotion in the world." They should keep doing that because it's true if you think of WWE as not being wrestling.

Yes, yes, yes, finally someone besides me understands what is happening here. If the WWE doesn't like the term wrestling and would rather be known as Sports Entertainment then TNA should make a big deal about the fact that they are a wrestling company.

Here's the thing about the Nash angle, on one level it is working just not in the way that was planned. Alex Shelley is turning into a big star because of his association with Nash. Unfortunately, its coming at the expense of the entire x-division. The division has been all but cruiserweighted at this point in large part because of this angle, moving Styles Daniels and Joe out of the division hurt as well but that could've been offset by having guys ready to take those spots like Dutt, Sabin and Shelley for example, not to mention Senshi.
But, here's something I didn't even notice until I read T's post. When was the last time TNA actually promoted an X-division title match for a PPV? I suppose you could argue that it was April for Joe/Sabu but the promotion of that match wasn't about the X-division belt but whether Joe could handle someone of Sabu's style. I say it was March for the Ultimate X match. The X-title match was just tossed on the show last month after not having one in May or June.

In other news, it is looking very likely that I will be going to Bound for Glory in October.

Re: TNA Impact!

I knew Shelley was going to benefit a lot by his association with Nash.

So Nash will be facing Sabin at the next PPV, with the winner getting an X-Division title shot? Just from looking at that alone, it looks like Nash will win that match.

Okay episode.

What's up with this push Bobby Roode is getting? I never saw that much potential in him.

Re: TNA Impact!

Well, he's one of D'Amore's boys and D'Amore is the booker so...

Didn't see Impact, only part I wanted to see was the LAX match.

Re: TNA Impact!

LAX wasn't anything good. Basically, short match with all four guys were in the ring at the same time and it ended up with a double pin. The promo after between Daniels/AJ and Konan was pretty good.

Christian Cage's response to Big Poppa Pump was gold. "Listen Sir Lancelot..".

Anytime, Homicide, Hernandez and Konnan are on TV its good to me, regardless of what they're doing. Anytime Homicide and Hernandez do their finishers its good with me. I guess I'm easy to please, ha, yeah right!

I will of course get the PPV on Sunday.

The line-up looks a lot better than last month.

*NWA World Heavyweight Title:
Jeff Jarrett w/Scott Steiner Vs. Sting W/Christian Cage

*NWA World Tag Team Titles:
AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels Vs. LAX

*NWA World X-Division Title:
Senshi Vs. Petey Williams

*Falls Count Anywhere in the Building:
Monty Brown Vs. Samoa Joe Vs. Rhino

*Winner gets an X-division title shot:
Chris Sabin Vs. Kevin Nash

*Winners get a tag title shot:
Americas Most Wanted Vs. The James Gang Vs. Bentley & Kazarian Vs. The Naturals

*Special Challenge Match
Abyss Vs. Brother Runt

*Women's Match:
Gail Kim Vs. Sirelda

Off the show: Ron Killings, Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Devine/Shelley, A-1, Raven and Eric Young.
I'd be totally fine with Devine and Shelley Vs. Lethal and Dutt. But no more, because that's enough matches and we want long matches for a couple of these, LAX match for example.

I didn't realize the lineup was that good.

The Lineup is strong but it snuck up on us.

Here it is, I think that LAX/Styles and Daniels could be complete awesome. Abyss and Runt should be a fun brawl, falls count anywhere should also be great.

The X-title match is apparently a 3-way according to the Observer site which is disappointing as I'd like to see Lethal/Dutt Vs. Shelley/Devine but if Dave is right then Lethal's in the 3-way. But it should be pretty good.

Sting and Jarrett and the 4 way tag should be ok and Sting/Jarrett should have a satisfying conclusion at least to me if: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Christian turns heel

Nash and Sabin is nothing I want to see.

Gail Kim and Sirelda, please be short.

Re: TNA Impact!

Buy the replay of tonight's show.

This was an unforgetable Pay Per View Event.

No ***** matches or anything like that but this is one you're going to want to have for your collection.

For those that haven't heard and get their TNA news from this thread, the building caught fire.

Seriously

Just awesome.

Oh, the 2 3-way matches were pretty good, the tag title match was ok, the main event and women's match were not good and everything else was just fine.

But the building being evacuated on live PPV was a totally memorable moment.

Hernandez & Homicide defeated AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels for the NWA World Tag Team Championships at tonight's Impact tapings

Re: TNA Impact!

^ I can't say that pleases me too much, as I think Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Styles and Daniels should have had a longer title reign. This ends it before it really even began.

Re: TNA Impact!

I see what your saying but Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
LAX is the hot team. They were not even supposed to go beyond the one match with this feud but LAX has gotten really over and they are capitalizing on it which I believe is smart. I hope they continue the feud to Bound for Glory.

Re: TNA Impact!

I'm not going to be seeing TNA PPVs for a while, maybe if the show was really awesome in terms of the matches will I order the replay.

Impact was a really good show. The intensity level was really high.

Opening was just hot. AJ/Daniels vs. LAX has been really well done. I looked at the spoiler thinking it was for this week's show, oh well, but it seems to me like the feud will go on for a while. Konan is always talking, can the other two guys talk well?

I really liked Christian's explanation of how he didn't plan out Sting's attack, something different. But that guitar shot at the PPV could be seen from a mile away.

Re: TNA Impact!

Well, T. in week 3 of the tapings Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Daniels and Styles challenge Homicide and Hernandez to Ultimate X at No Surrender, and I believe that will be billed as the show's main event.

I also liked the Christian explanation, as it does explain why he didn't just turn on him sooner in the match or why he'd risk Sting winning the match before he had a chance to cost him. Yeah, the guitar shot was seen from a mile away but it was still a brutal shot and it was the right thing to do.

Now Jarrett Vs. Sting at Bound for Glory is the wrong thing to do, but I've already blogged on the stupidity of that move right here. Let that entry stand as proof that not everything I say about TNA is positive.

Bound for Glory is a head scratcher but No Surrender shapes up to be a loaded show. Oh, there's a mild spoiler in my blog entry regarding a match at No Surrender that will be set up at the next taping but has already been leaked to the internet.

Ive missed the past 2 weeks including saturday night repeats
post #384 of 704

Re: TNA Impact!

I somehow missed the beginning of this week's Impact, managing to flip the replay on just as Jeff Jarrett headed to the ring. This made me miss the majority of the LAX angle, that made me shut off the TV.

Re: TNA Impact!

Major announcement at Sunday's PPV: "In the course of history, there are defining moments that change the fabric of a company forever. These are moments that are spoken about for years, not days, and serve as benchmarks in the annals of a company’s growth. And on occasion, those moments transcend the individual company and re-write the history of an industry. This Sunday at the NO SURRENDER PPV, an announcement will be made that will do just that. You will not want to miss the NO SURRENDER PPV."--Dixie Carter

Sounds like Impact will become a 2-hour show?

The past few Impacts have been missable. What happened to Nash? I've been missing the Paparazzi videos.

Nash has supposingly had a fallinig out with TNA, rumor has it that he didn't want to put over Chris Sabin at a recent ppv.

Also the rumor is that Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Goldberg
is the big surprise for this sunday's ppv.

Combination of things.

1. TNA didn't buy the story of his neck injury that caused him to pull out of his match with Chris Sabin at Sacrifice and now think that Nash was only out for himself. (no fucking duh~!)

2. Nash's contract is coming to an end and so given the bad feelings its doubtful he'll be back.

I did like those videos though.

Speaking of that, I got the Slammiversary DVD today where the Nash Sabin thing really got started.

As for that major announcement, within the coarse of a few sentences they already over hyped it and nothing will measure up to that paragraph.

re: the big sunday PPV spoiler, I wonder how big that would be for TNA (if it turns out to be true).

Re: TNA Impact!

I hope the big announcement has nothing to do with a new wrestler.

What's the news on Scott Steiner? I haven't seen him on TV in a while.
