Re: TNA Impact!

Man, that is insane. He must have landed on his face.
Did he get hurt?

Re: TNA Impact!

Surprisingly, he's fine.

Ok, I'll tell you the AJ spot.

You know the main event was a cage with weapons coming down from the ceiling. Well, AJ Styles took James Storm of Americas Most Wanted on top of the rough of the cage where there was more weapons. So, Storm ends up on a table on top of the cage. AJ sets up a ladder and climbs to the catwalks of the arena. Then he grabs them, swings out like on monkey bars and splashed Storm through the table down to the rough of the cage which held. An awesome spot, and safer than it sounds, the only real danger was AJ climbing a ladder that was on a mesh cage.

Oh damn...too bad I missed that.

Re: TNA Impact!

The world X cup begins tonight on Impact and they've only got 3 shows to build towards the next PPV.

Good thing I checked this thread. I forgot the show is on tonight.

My jaw just about hit the floor when the "Total Package" came out. Are he and Buff legit working for TNA now?

Re: TNA Impact!

What's up with bringing these dudes back from the dead? Lex Luger didn't even look like he wanted to be there.

Re: TNA Impact!

Maybe Luger would rather be in jail?

I on't think this is full time, at least I hope not as they all 3 suck, have bad attitudes, can't work anymore and TNA has too many guys as it is.

I think this was done just to set up the next PPV main event.

Re: TNA Impact!

All three? My Tivo cut out just as Luger was starting down the ramp, what happened after that? I only saw Buff and Luger.

The show ended with Luger and Marcus Alexander only as the suprises. There was no 3rd (unless Casey was referring to Sting).

All 3 means you should tune in next week.

Re: TNA Impact!

I just read the spoilers and the pop for #3 must be huge. The actual partner seems out of left field but it will be a good match.

Re: TNA Impact!

The show was good.

I'm loving these X-Division tag matches. It reminds me of how much I loved WCW's cruiserweight tag team division.

Joe vs. Big Poppa Pump? Man, Joe has a lot of great potential opponents.

The final segment was fun; I liked the game show theme. I wasn't thrilled to see Buff Bagwell and Lex Luger. It seems to me like it was just a one-time appearance.

actually, i was wondering how all of that weight coming down on the cage, if it was going to support it. We all know what happened at with the hell in the cell match with mankind and undertaker. taker goes to chokeslam mick on the cage, but it gives way with the chair hitting him in the mouth (and possibliy breaking some of his teeth)

Re: TNA Impact!

Well, there was a worry that the cage would give way, but it didn't. Actually for many the biggest worry was that the ladder might fly off the cage and hit someone.

I forgot again that Impact was on.

Re: TNA Impact!

I saw most of it and it was pretty good. The tag title match was ok but the rematch at the PPV should be good.

Re: TNA Impact!

It was alright. I'm not really liking this new format of having longer matches. I think for a one-hour show, one long match is good enough. I'm missing seeing the guys that TNA has. Where has Monty Brown been since his match with Christian?

Out with an injury, he should be back soon.

As for the format, I love it, its 10 billion times better than when they tried to cram every wrestler on every show and they packed so much in to an hour that by the end of the last segment nobody remembered the first segment. Sometimes, less is more and that's definitely the case now.

I wouldn't have a problem with a squash match every now and again.

Based off a couple of things I've read, I'll put this in spoiler tags. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Based on the Nash interview, it looks like he will feud with AJ Styles at some point.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Jim Cornette is reported by PWInsider to be TNA's new authority figure. This gets 10 thumbs up from me.

Re: TNA Impact!

Anyone know if Nash's little chart is truthful? According to him, during his title reign at the WWE, the company's profits were the highest ever, even higher than Stone Cold's.

Re: TNA Impact!

No but it was funny. My guess is that it was the worst period.

I love these Shelley videos!

Thi is right, its a lie but funny. Truth is Nash as champion was not successful at all for the WWE. Well, that's not really fair they weren't losing money or anything but given that it was sandwiched in between the Hogan years and the Austin years, it looks worse than it is because of how much money both of those guys made. Toss Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels in to that catagory.

Re: TNA Impact!

Just curious, did Austin make more money for the company than Hogan? Also, after Austin and Hogan, who would you say would take 3rd place?

Re: TNA Impact!

You've got a triangle here. Hogan, Austin, Rock.

Did Austin make more money than Hogan? That depends on who you ask. Its just like comparing box office, you've got to adjust Hogan's total for inflation. Austin in terms of actual dollars made more money than Hogan, but Austin had benefits that Hogan did not. For example, Hogan's peak was at a time where there was between 1-4 PPVs a year whereas Austin benefitted from 12 in 1 year.

But the Rock eventually passed Austin in terms of being a PPV draw.

So you can make a case for all 3 but in terms of actual dollars it was Austin. Austin also had a lot more variations on merchandise than Hogan did.

The real question is in 20 years who's name will be remembered most when you think of wrestling? IMO its Hogan.

Casey, I'm curious to know if you're basing this statement in actual facts or your opinion.

Re: TNA Impact!

Last night's PPV was so goddamned awesome.

Samoa Joe was made last night.

Styles/Daniels have my permission to wrestle Americas Most Wanted for the rest of time.

James Mitchell deserves a lot of credit and a raise in pay.

Kevin Nash and his attack on the X-division was booked perfectly.

Raven/A1 was not as horrible as I expected, but I can't say it was good.

James Gang/Team 3D was better than I thought it would be and Kip James actually looked like he kind of knew what he was doing.

Rhino/Bobby Rude means Rhino is probably headed to ECW.

Re: TNA Impact!

I'm cutting back on the PPVs to save money. This one didn't interest me much besides wanting to see Joe in that match.

From what I read, it looks like Joe is going to be in a feud with Sting? How was the stuff between Joe and Steiner?

So fucking awesome, if you'll pardon the french.

It was one of those deals where TNA was criticized a lot for putting Joe/Steiner together in a tag match when that match alone is a money match. Well, for a lot of people that I've heard/talked to after the show, what actually happened is them being in the tag match makes you want to see the singles match that much more. I am one of those people, Steiner/Joe at Slammiversary if that happens is something I won't want to miss. It worked because neither was overpowering of the other. Steiner suplexed Joe around like it was no big deal but then would be on the wrong end of a beating a few seconds later.

Yes, they did plant seeds for a Sting/Joe feud, but that is something they don't have to go to right away and if the Impact spoilers are any indication I'm going to be one happy dude on June 18.

Seriously everything about what they did last night was so damn awesome. Joe was the star, all 3 guys worked to make sure that Joe was the star and it was beautiful to behold.

I give the match which was pretty damn good, and the post match angle a 15/10.

I totally can't wait for this to come out on DVD.
