TNA Impact! - Page 8

Casey, have you decided to attend the PPV?

~T
Yes, I've decided that there is no way possible I can afford attending this show. I've kind of set my sites on Bound for Glory in October, but I have no idea where that's going to be, I'm going to guess it won't be in Orlando though. I'd love to go to Lockdown but with my quitting my job and everything else there's no way.

One of the worst Impacts. It just didn't flow very well.

After the great fight at Christian's house, they follow it up with a lame segment. They should've just did away with Christian's arrival in the truck because he got to the ring awfully fast, and it's more exciting to see him appear out of nowhere.

Sting's promo was odd because of the lighting and the crowd noise sounded canned at times.

What's up with the arm wrestling? Really, come up with a new contest.

The best part was seeing Strong back.

Impact will be moving to Thursdays starting next week. I'm really looking forward to the show.

-Sting's first TV match for TNA and the announcement of his team
-Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels for the title
-AMW vs. Team 3D street fight

and the premier of Ultimate Fighter did a huge number it even beat the NBA games it was up against, I told you all that TNA following UFC was better than TNA going ahead of UFC.

TNA Impact did a 1.0 rating Saturday, the second highest rating ever for Impact.

Just FYI, it followed a replay of TUF's season 3 opener. Imagine what following the first run will do?

If that doesn't tell you that TNA is better off following TUF than leading into it, then nothing will convince you.
But Impact didn't get its best rating ever. It seems to me like the replay of the TUF season opener should boost it even more.

In certain demographics, like 18-34 males, it did do its best numbers ever. I believe males 18-49 was a 1.2 and males 18-34 was a 1.1. That's what UFC can do for you that a CSI rerun can not.

As for the impact of the TUF replay, it was a replay of a show that a lot of people saw the first time, and last week TNA did a 0.6 and this week it was a 1.0.

If you want to see the first 4 minutes of tomorrow night's Daniels/Joe X-division title match, you'd better go to TNA's website and watch it as the match will be joined in progress on Impact tomorrow night.

It's on tonight!

That video of the X-division match was alright. I don't know why it was edited at one point.

Impact was pretty good tonight. I could live with matches like Joe/Daniels every week. It was nice they weren't trying to fit 50 people on an hour show. The matches were good, save for the fact that an anything goes match did not have a finish, but other than that, no complaints in the ring...tonight's impact should be the standard for how they do it from now on.
Show was good. Could've been better.

They didn't exactly continue from where the Internet video ended. It was a great way to start off the show, though, to keep the UFC viewers. Good match. I didn't expect Joe to get the title back so soon.

Street fight was alright. Nice to see Spike again.

Sting's match with Eric Young wasn't that good. The way it was layed out, it didn't seem like it was Sting's first TV match in all those years. It was nice seeing Sting try harder, with moves like the over-the-top rope dive and the splash onto the guard rail.

I think I slightly prefer the old format. I like having the good, long matches on PPV.

This surprises me a little, I mean there were things about the old format I liked, I'm not against the every so often squash match, but the problem with the old format was that so many guys were on the show that it was often hard to remember what happened on Impact as soon as you were done watching it. At least that was the most common criticism I heard. Impact to me didn't feel like a can't miss show, even if I never missed it.

Of course, to me it doesn't matter that every match on a PPV has an angle, but for some it might and for those the old format was probably preferable.
Last night was ok but not great. Not exactly the kind of show you want as the final build towards a PPV.
I felt the same way about the show. The Christian and Abyss segment was especially weak and boring; after the great house fight, their angle just went downhill. The video package at the end to promote the PPV wasn't that good either.

I'll still be ordering Sunday's PPV. How can one not order a PPV with all steel-cage matches?

Re: TNA Impact!

The TNA rating was a 0.9, that's not good news although its higher than the average on Saturday. The UFC rating was a 1.9 so TNA lost a full point after UFC went off the air.

I don't blame UFC.
I don't blame Spike TV.
I don't blame the timeslot, as the 2 appearances in primetime did 0.8 and 0.9 ratings.

I blame TNA.

Seriously, the whole Impact format is flawed. They try to do too much on each show. They need to seriously change things, constrict their focus.

I'm going to write something and post it in my blog, for how I think TNA should be booking Impact.

Re: TNA Impact!

Come on, Casey, just admit I was right!

Last week's show was good, and they had stuff that tried to interest the UFC viewers such as the blood and brawls. It looks like a lot of those people who stayed for TNA last week don't care for it or would rather go to bed at 11 PM.

Tonight's PPV should be good. I haven't seen last year's Lockdown so I'm really looking forward to this one. Sabu vs. Samoa should be great. The Xscape match should be the show stealer. Daniel's mystery opponent will probably disappoint. And, of course, the 4 star match will be Bullet Armstrong arm wrestling Konan ... in a steel cage!

Re: TNA Impact!

I will not admit that you were right because:
1. Tradition says that you give the weaker show as strong a leadin as possible and that was UFC more than CSI.
2. I don't wanna~!

But seriously, last week they hooked some UFC viewers for that opening segment with Joe/Daniels and then they saw a drop off until the last 15 minutes with Sting which saw a rise in the rating again.

This week, they opened cold with Team Canada vs. Team USA.

Impact has a lot of problems, chiefly they try and fit too damn many people on 1 broadcast. This week had what 3 matches with 20 wrestlers in them? An 8 and 2 six man tags?

I swear I really am going to get around to writing my ideas for how to fix TNA. The thing is that TNA can easily be fixed. The stuff they do that's bad isn't as intelligence insulting as the bad stuff WWE does.

I agree with you Thi that tonight's show should be pretty good. Abyss and Christian I think has potential, the Wargames thing fits most of those guys in it, and Joe killing Sabu works for me.

Re: TNA Impact!

Good PPV, but not as great as I was hoping for. I guess it just had to do with being worn down by all the spots and stuff that can be done inside a cage. I noticed that the timing was really bad many times, therefore it was predictable what was going to happen.

The opener was awesome. Probably best match. I loved the moves triple team moves!

Daniels vs. Low Ki was alright. The two guys didn't seem to gel very well.

Arm wrestling match....

Sabu vs. Samoa was a let down. Was it because Sabu's arm was injured? Joe diamond cutting Sabu from the top rope was really cool, but since so much great stuff had already happened, the crowd didn't really pop for it.

The X-Division match will all the guys was good. It's too bad that Kidman move (the name escapes me for some reason) off the top of the cage barely hit anyone.

Team 3D against Canada was okay.

Cage and Abyss had a good match. It's good to see that their feud will likely continue.

The main event was a lot better than I was expecting. I'd love to see it again with more time alotted and more weapons hung from the top. It was a good idea to have the ladder and table on top of the cage, and AJ's spot was awesome (too bad they couldn't get a wide shot of it). I was afraid the ladder wasn't going to hold up.

Is it just me or did Raven put on A LOT of weight?

I never saw Low Ki before but read a lot of great stuff about him. Did I see him put on a good performance tonight? I saw some potential and liked his style, but as I said earlier, he and Daniels just didn't work well together.

Re: TNA Impact!

Raven did put on a lot of weight that was the reason he took time off, I think he has a thiroid problem.

Joe/Sabu was short because of the arm injury and because Sabu is likely on his way out of the company.

I thought the Low Ki' vs. Daniels match was pretty good. As good as it was capable of being? No, but good nonetheless.

Chase Stephens did the shooting star press and nobody caught him, he's lucky he's ok.

I actually liked the arm wrestling mainly for the strapping afterwards.

Opener was awesome.

That 6 way did nothing for me and neither did the Team 3D match.

Thought the heels should've gone over.

and actually, yeah what AJ did was insane, but Chase Stevens had the most horrifying spot the entire night.

Re: TNA Impact!

Last replay on Dish Network, which is what I have, was yesterday. Oh well.

Re: TNA Impact!

Damn that sucks.

Well, I'll be nice and tell you what Chase Stevens did at least.

He was in the cage with 4 other men in the Xscape match. He climbed to the top of the cage, and he went for a shooting star press. Only none of his opponents caught him.

That's right, 4 guys let him just fall off a shooting star press.
