TNA Impact! - Page 7

So, like I said...it looks like they're making Eric Young a face. That's going to be interesting.
I think Young needs Team Canada (and the other heels) for his character to work as well as it does.

They may turn him face when Hotshot Johnny Devine makes his return, possibly towards the end of this month or sometime next month.

For the 0 of you that care, TNA has announced the pre-show matches for Sunday.

Shannon Moore Vs. Casidy Riley
Diamonds in the Rough Vs. Sharkboy and Norman Smiley

Since this is free, I guess its true, you get what you pay for.
The pre-show is never free for me. Are the TNA PPV replays cheaper than the live showing?

~T
Thi, you're not the first person to say that the Pre-show isn't free for you even though its supposed to be. I don't know if its free for me or not as I order the shows well in advance, in fact I ordered Destination X on Tuesday.

No, the replays are not cheaper they're still $29.95, just like the WWE replays are the same as regular cost $34.95.

Impact was there tonight for me.

I've seen final builds towards PPV's that were better.
PPV was alright

I really liked the opener. Some great stuff there with the two young guys.

X-Division four-way was really good towards the end.

Ultimate-X was short. I haven't been that impressed with this type of match, and I think they need to modify it somehow.

8-man was good. It would've been nice if they brawled outside the ring again towards the end.

The main event wasn't good. Christian in-ring work has just been bad in TNA, and I really can't recall if he was like this in WWE. Monty looked as good as I've ever seen from him.

I loved Big Poppa Pump, but I don't want to see him in TNA.

Thoughts on the Show.

Ultimate X, as Thi said was too short, the problem was that they had to cut it short because Samoa Joe lost some vision during the bout. That's also why the main event ended up being so damn long.

Christian didn't look good tonight because he didn't get much of any offense, it was mainly Brown beating on him. His match with Jarrett last month was ***3/4 though.

Monty appeared to have a knee problem.

The 4-way X match was an awesome spotfest. The opener was good and I like Thi would've liked to see more brawling in the 8-man tag.

LAX/James Gang was beyond all realms of horrid. I never thought I'd feel sorry for a dude named Homicide, but there you have it.

I have no problem with Scott Steiner in TNA. If he's allowed to be a monster heel that is, WWE really screwed up his arrival initially by forgetting what made him the most marketable star in WCW at the end. If he starts squashing 3-X division guys in 1 match, I'll change my tune.

They teased Goldberg a lot tonight and the crowd was ready for him to show up, chanting his name during the heel beatdown. The faces have ended the PPVs on top since October, so it was time for the heels to lay a beatdown.
So, Steiner came out and beat down Sting/Borden? The crowd was chanting Goldberg?

This is starting to sound more and more like WCW, and that's not a bad thing.

As someone who mourns the day WCW died, and can't stand the WWE, I'd like to thank this thread for turning me on to TNA. It may not have the spit and polish all the time, but it has that old WCW feel to it.

I hope Vince Jr is shaking in his shoes and Vince Sr is turning in his grave.

Who won Ultimate X? Joe, Styles, or Daniels?

Why in the hell would you make a man who's first words on WWE TV are "GIMME THE F**KIN MIC!" a face?

Daniels...

No, Who did not win Ultimate X, he was too busy playing first.

Or...

No, Jim Neidhart did not win Ultimate X.

Seriously, it was Daniels as already mentioned.

Impact did a 0.7 rating on Saturday. They can't blame that one on UFC, however.

Shannon Moore has re-signed with the WWE.
According to Meltzer, TNA is no longer moving to Primetime. They will be on at 11:00 PM ET on Thursday night's immediately following The Ultimate Fighter season 3.

Not being in Primetime I'm sure disappoints them, but this is actually a better move for them because they get TUF as a lead-in and that's way better than being the UFC lead-in.
I hope that isn't true. How long is Ultimate Fighter? Both shows can be in primetime, right?

Moore is back in WWE? That guy never did anything for me in WCW and WWE, and especially as the Prince of Punk.

Both items are true. The lineup Thursday 4/13 on Spike will be CSI at 8PM ET, UFC Unleashed at 9PM ET, TUF at 10PM ET and iMPACT at 11PM ET.

Really this is the best thing that could've happened to TNA even if they don't see it that way. The fact is that this season of Ultimate Fighter is going to be the biggest season so far with UFC legends Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz being the coaches, Ultimate Fighter was originally scheduled for the slot that TNA will get, but this made no sense as TUF's audience is a lot larger than TNA's. TNA has benefitted from going on after UFC in the past, the last time there was an Ultimate Fight Night Live back in January, the episode of iMPACT that followed it did a 0.9 rating which was higher than the original airing had done 2 days prior. Better to benefit from the lead-in than to be an unproven lead-in. Trends show that UFC fans will stay to watch iMPACT after UFC programming but that they will not tune in for anything on Spike that airs before UFC programming.

Spike did the right thing and insiders say this should've been the move that was made in the first place. You couldn't put iMPACT in the CSI spot because it'd get killed in the ratings by that first hour of network primetime. So everybody take heart, this is a good move and TNA's time will come probably when TUF season 3 is over.

I posted this information about the timeslot change on a wrestling board I frequent and the response has been unanimous that this is a good thing.

Re: the new time slot, I like it. That way, I don't need to change any of my existing recordings during primetime.

Re: the PPV...I missed it!!
How did Samoa Joe do during the X match? Could he hang on to those ropes?

He tried once and didn't make it. I'm sure he was due to try again a couple more times but he got injured and the match had to be cut short and they didn't do a lot of the big spots they had planned. It was a temporary vision loss and he's ok now and worked the tapings last night.
Do you think this'll lead to Joe getting into the World Title hunt or is he gonna hang with the X-Division a little longer. I'm curious as to how Christian and Joe would work together.
How did Joe get injured?
I think Joe will stick with the X-Division for a little longer and perhaps we'll see another Ultimate-X match with him. I would really want to see him get in the ring with Rhyno and Abyss, though.

Joe got injured when he did the twirling dive over the top rope and onto AJ and Daniels outside the ring.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
His next opponent is Sabu, and on Impact they talk about him moving to the heavyweight division.

Alright episode.

Steiner just isn't doing anything for me, and the crowd doesn't seem to care about him much either. I was surprised he didn't respond to the crowd. How come there appears to be an indentation on his chest, of which the tattoo is covering up?

The White Sox stuff was lame, mainly because of the acting.

Whatever happened to Raven?

~T
I agree and disagree on Scott Steiner. His promo could've been better, but he did get heel heat, when the crowd told him that "you still suck". That's legitimate heel heat, not to be confused with the kind of heat Jeff Jarrett gets which is get off my TV heat. Evidence, the fact they didn't chant boring in Steiner's direction.

Raven has been having a thyroid problem that caused him to gain a lot of weight. He lost a match in January where he'd have to leave TNA. He'll be back eventually.
I thought the "you still suck" chant came across as the type of chant that Jeff Jarrett and X-Pac gets.

Who did Raven lose to?

The afore mentioned X-Pac. Larry Z counted the pin but Raven's foot was on the rope.

The reason I don't think that the you still suck chants were like the one's that Jarrett gets, is that the crowd is a lot more hostile towards Jarrett than they were during that show. During Jarrett's promos they chant "boring" they turn their back on him, tell him to retire, stuff a lot more vicious than "you still suck". Plus, I'll be willing to bet anything that part of the crowd was chanting that with the hope that Steiner would respond with something like "and so does your mother."

Another reason I think it was legit heel heat is because he got them to chant for Christian. Notice how when people call Jeff Jarrett boring, tell him to go away, and so on that that's what they chant, and they don't usually want someone to come out and shut him up. They want Christian to kick Steiner's ass, and they want Jarrett to shut up and go away. That's the difference between the 2 kinds of heat.

One of the best shows last night. The thing that was unique was that it had that big feel to it.

The opening was really exciting.

The fight in Christian's house was cool. James Mitchel's line, "That's enough Abyss, you can't win the belt from a dead man," was classic.

The ending was really well done. I don't think that match will be any good because 8 guys in the TNA ring is awfully crowded.

James Mitchell is a great great man.

Lethal Lockdown will be decent I predict because of all the gimmicks. It will be a lot like Wargames, but in a smaller area.

Abyss/Christian should be fun as Abyss can take crazy cage bumps.
