Can DTS be heard thru the Dolby Headphone option?

Just thinking of purchasing a receiver with the dolby headphone option and wondering if dts can be heard thru this option or is it Dolby only? Thanks

There are ways to do it, you may have to call the company and ask them specifically about the particular AVR though.

I know people doing dolby head phones off of their PC's and they can do it.

I thought the headphone connection is analog as oppose to digital. Therefore even though you have the receiver set for DTS, the headphone connection default to stereo.

I've never tried this with dolby headphone but I have a yamaha reciever and the "silent cinema" option will take a DTS signal and simulate the 5.1 surround with amazing accuracy.

dolby claims that it works with dvd audio as well. So expanding dts should be technically possible.

Here's a review of a dolby headphone setup that specifically mentions dts.

But your prospective purchase may not properly implement all of the features. So download the corresponding manual, and see what it says.
