Veronica Mars Season 2 - Page 24

Re: Veronica Mars Season 2

My dad and I are watching it slowly, we finished the first disc over the course of two weeks, and we haven't started the second disc yet. It's nice to drag it out, plus he works nights and I work days so it makes it hard to watch anything during the week. But he seems to have no major issues following the plot so far, and he'll usually tell me or ask questions if he's confused about something.
I remember watching the season during it's run and wasn't really confused, the only episode I was really confused in was the episode where V helps Duncan get the baby and stuff. It seemed to come out of no where, but towards the end when all was revealed I was fine.
Then again maybe I'm used to that sort of WTF moments from Buffy and Angel.

As for the Duncan/Logan debate, I will say I like Duncan, we were shown in Season 2, the very first episode why she went back out with him. He was there for her when Logan was off "getting back" at the people of Neptune. He showed up at the cafe a lot when she worked there, just to be near her and so forth. I think it was a bit purposeful to show after the fact that he wasn't perfect and he seemed to care only for himself, if mainly to make it seem like Veronica should've just stuck with Logan.
That being said I really like Logan too, he's been a great character, he's evolved from the stupid bully to someone who actually gives a crap about things and maybe people, if really only Veronica. Watching him work with Weevil was pretty cool to me, they should really make an episode dedicated to those guys doing a "buddy cop"-ish thing.
But I'm a guy so what do I know. I mean Mac (Tina Majorino) is in definite competition with Veronica for the best looking girl on the show. And Enrico is a big part of the reason I watch the show, the man is just an amazing actor and is great at his role.

They sort of did in S2 already, didn't they? Logan and Weevil teamed up on "Rashard and Wallace Go to White Castle," working together to find out who really killed Felix.

Of course Weevil got booted out of the PCHers once they found out he was working with Logan, so he will be riding solo from now on. (If he gets out of jail, that is.)

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
But something tells me that he will get out before too long in S3. I don't think he will do time for Thumper's murder.

That certainly made it difficult to keep some of the facts in mind.

As for the other thread, well, it's a DVD discussion thread. This one is specifically for discussing the show.

You're worried about the show being watered down, but I'm worried that it won't be around at all after the first order of episodes air. From what I understand, the new regime is going to be less forgiving of poor ratings. Tell all your friends.

Well, it wouldn't have made any difference to me, I would still have been able to follow it okay i'm sure. So, the CW will be another FOX? Great!

That's true I forgot about that episode, there were actually a couple of episodes now that I remember, I just want more.

From what I've read the most important factor isn't the ratings themselves but how well VM does at maintaining its Gimore lead-in. They are expecting ratings to initially drop for all shows just because of the merger and channel shifts.

As to S2, agreed also that it was *far* more confusing watching it week to week with month or longer gaps. I'm sure it played great on DVD (and I thought it was a great season overall) but I do think they could stand to simplify things a bit. If they were going over toward no arcs at all, I'd be worried, but a series of three mini-arcs (that are supposed to be loosely connected) sounds good to me.

Re: Veronica Mars Season 2

I'm about four years behind the curve here, but I finished watching Veronica Mars S1 and S2 this weekend. Hopefully S3 will go on sale soon so I can watch it.

Anyone else (re)discovering this show?

I'll probably start in on it again. There was a sale on Season 3 a month or so back. I'm sure it will return.

Since this thread has been resurrected, I'll post this publicity photo for Kristen Bell's new movie.

The fullsized version makes a nice desktop wallpaper.

And, since the thread has been resurrected, I'll post this meaningless little thought that I've tried to find a place for. Anyone notice the sudden ubiquitousness of VM's mother lately? It seems like Corinne Bohrer is in every commercial on TV right now. She's in ads for Walgreens, Totina's Pizza Rolls, Bounty paper towels, Mac vs. PC, and maybe some others.

I still think of her as Judge Reinhold's girlfriend in Vice Versa.

It's been a long time since I've watched the S1 finale, but that pic looks like it's from the end of that episode where she dreams that she's hanging out with Lilly.

No, that's the bikini she wears in the trailer:

Fast forward to the 1 minute mark.

My wife and I watched S1 over the course of a month. We watched S2 Friday night and all day Saturday. We enjoyed it mildly

I feel for those of you who had to watch it over a regular season, with all the delays, VCR hiccups, and sports interruptions. Watching it in short course on DVD is sublime. (I've tried to convince my wife to eschew broadcast TV and only do DVD now, but she loves her Survivor and ANTM...)

I prefer S1 -- it's a bit more "pure of essence". The entire mystery is wholly centered on Veronica and clearing the mystery is a directly personal issue for her. The mystery in S2 is external -- she blames herself initially but it's not really about her. It was also a bit sloppier in leaving loose threads(1). Regardless, it was an excellent season and did a better job of tying in the "monster of the week" episodic mysteries into the season arc.

Is S3 worthwhile? I'm waiting for it to go on sale, but I've heard it's much weaker.

(1) I have these remaining questions. Perhaps they're addressed in S3.
* What's Kendall's relationship with the Fitzpatricks?
* What's the deal with Woody's creepy Son & Wife issues?
* Why didn't Lamb arrest Meg's parents for child abuse? Is he really incompetent to the point of being evil?
* Why was Kendall meeting with the SEC regulator? It made no sense for her to rat out Father Casablancas.
* Why did Duncan kidnap baby Lily? He's the legal parent / guardian?
* It was setup that Duncan had no money on his own. How could Duncan survive and raise Lily on his own, in Austrailia?
* Where did VM graduate? What about the scholarship?
* And how is Keith Mars, PI to the rich and famous and book author of scandalous murder mystery, not fabulously wealthy working as a high-end PI for the elite?

I just saw the Mac vs. PC commercial with her the first time last night, coincidentally while watching Kristen Bell's appearance on the Late Show.
