Supernatural ongoing thread - Page 10

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

It could have been a normal blade. It's kind of a shame that they killed off two hunters in the span of two episodes, because both looked like potentially interesting recurring characters. Next season, I hope they have some grizzled old armorer who taught John pop up every now and again.

Quote:
And as BrianBr said, how does Jess/Sam fit into the demon's "6-month old infant" pattern?

In general, I love the show but they do seem to contradict their own logic quite often.

I won't argue that, since some of the sloppy writing has really bothered me in the past. But, maybe it was just the fact that the demon is set against the Winchester, or maybe it has something to do with whatever the connection is to Sam and his power.

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

WOW! Just watched the first part of the season finale and man, as was said already, this show kicks ass and takes names!

I am really liking the dad character, John, I feel so bad for him, he's obviously had a hard life because of this demon and it has destroyed his family and their future.

His hatred of this evil is palpable and it fuels and informs everything he does and everything we see him do. He's a man destroyed and a man obsessed and I can't think of another character on tv that feels more real and tragic.

Leaving Sam and Dean to fight the demon alone was hard for him, but it was perhaps inevitable that they would fight it alone, it's just too bad they failed to kill it, but they'll get another chance i'm sure, especially now that they know the signs that the demon is about to strike somewhere.

As for the demon going after Jessica and Sam, who knows, but i'm willing to be patient and find out, i'm not going to write it off as sloppy writing prematurly. Remember, it's only the first season, guy's, they won't tell us everything right this second.

And YES! I LOVED the opening montage with that song! They had better include that in the dvd set, it was very unique doing it that way.

Lastly, I want to see that smug little she-bitch Meg bite it hard!

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

I hope they don't kill her too soon. It's sometimes a mistake to throw away a good recurring character. They may be setting it up for her to go and the other guy to be the new recurring baddie, though.

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

so is it a sure thing a season 2 is happening? I thought Supernatural was doing great for WB until I saw it on a "On The Fence" list, and I was sure it was one of the top 5 shows on WB and one of the most likely contenders to make it to CW

No one will know until the CW announces their fall line-up sometime in mid-May.

If it's truly "on the fence," then it's one of the higher ranking shows in that category. It's probably closer to straddling the line between "safe" and "on the fence" rather than the lower end of the scale.

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

It was a bit funny to see the guy who plays John Winchester on Grey's Anatomy last night. I was flipping the channel on the tv over to ABC before I went to bed and there he was. Still scruffy but in light, that was the weirdest part.

Anyway I can't help but love this show, I still love the opening of "Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas in the previously on section it was easily the best previously on I've seen and I actually watched it all the way through, I hardly ever watch those things.
This show better get picked up for a Season 2. I don't know what they'd do, but Kripke and crew have got the Whedonverse thing being channeled, so I think they'll do alright.

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

My guess is that, after this seasons crisis is over, it'll settle back into another season of fighting assorted demons, ghosts and monsters until the crisis for that season arises.

Buffy used to do that until the last couple of seasons when the BIG crisis was the main spotlight.

The upfronts for CW I think is May 18th in NYC (not sure where exactly...maybe Madison Square Garden like The WB did?) sooo here's to hoping for a second season!!! I WANT more fix of Winchester boys and classic rock/metal!

At roughly 27 minutes into the show (sans commercial breaks), when they're comparing the photocopy of the painting from the book to the real painting, I'm 90% sure Jensen Ackles says, "Jared, check it out" as he hands him the pic.

The CC's say "Sam, check it out," but it doesn't sound like "Sam" to me.

I suppose it could be, "There, check it out." But it still sounds like "Jared".
I just checked 3 times to be sure. It's hard to hear but he definately said "Sam, check it out".

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

Hey...there's a thread about this show which I stumbled on. "Supernatural" is quite good. The banter between the two leads is quite amusing. There are some attractive gals thrown in for eye candy for the male audience. Being a Led-Zeppelin devotee, it is funny how they were referenced twice already on the show through Dean [Jensen Ackles]. I don't remember what episodes they were on but this is how I recall them...

"Zeppelin rules!" [kid to Dean with a high five]

Dean talking to an individual on the porch...
"I'm John Bonham."
"Isn't he the drummer for Led-Zeppelin?"
"Classic rock fan, I see."

Although it is wishful thinking, I'd love to see the band grant the series permission to use one of their songs for the show. After all, they did license "Immigrant Song" to "School of Rock."

Ok just wondering did you hear that on the west coast? Supposedly it was changed for the west coast people but on the east coast (and the copy I got from "somwheres ") Jensen DEFINITELY said "Jared" its even on Youtube.com. If you do a search on "Supernatural" you can find it

Gotta drop in long enough to say the Triumph "previously on" segment managed to kick even more ass than last week's! Now, back to the show.

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

Wow. All I can say right now is, it's going to be a long five or so months.

And let's get out of the way the jokes about how they should have been riding in a VW.

Wow! The boys took a beatin' in the season finale, especially poor Sam, he got beat down hard by that demon. Dean's comment about the demon monologuing got a laugh out of me despite their dire situation, it was a short lived laugh, though, what the hell was the demon doing to Dean?

I expected to see Dean's heart torn out of his chest by magic, I couldn't look. Oh yeah, this shows coming back for another season, how the hell could it not LOL!? I didn't know the song at the beginning this week, though, who was it?

Agreed, Greg, a long few months ahead indeed, but I have a funny feeling that John and the boy's are okay. BTW, was that their freind who was driving the truck?

I couldn't tell. They shoot this show so dark I can't see what's happening half the time anyway.

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

I don't think it was Bobby. Looked similar, but I think he was scrawnier. I don't know for sure, though.

BTW, did I hear right? Was Bobby's dog named Rumsfeld?

Quote:

Triumph, man! Dude, walk or bike your ass down to the store and get a Triumph CD if you don't know Fight the Good Fight. You need it! Or, did you mean the OTHER song? That was Joe Walsh's Turn to Stone.

I just, I was in awe over the recap. It was completely brilliant last week, and they topped it. I freaking LOVE that song. Both songs, really, but man oh man. I hope they keep this up. It might be best if it's a finale time thing, though, so it stays special.

BTW, the brother stuff between Sam and Dean continues to be amazing. The "I'll have to bury you" thing, and also the demon getting at Dean's fears that he's an outsider in the relationship between John and Sam. Great stuff.

Also, Lauren made a great call that needs to be mentioned: the scene last episode where Sam threw Dean against a wall when Dean said none of it would bring their mother or Jessica back was a mirror reversal of a scene in the pilot where Dean slammed Sam for the same reason. That's brilliant stuff.

Last thing, while this episode continues to sink in. The effect of the special Colt was awesome. I thought Dean tazered the dude at first, but it was . . . more permanent.

Okay, real last thing: a tear for Meg, the real Meg. She went through Hell, literally. I can't believe Bobby would even entertain letting her continue to be animated by the demon. What would that buy her? But, it's tough knowing somebody innocent has to die.

Just think about how Dean is going to feel when he wakes up and see's his princess all cracked-up, the dude won't be happy.

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

John, there are several Triumph songs I'm confident you'll like. Maybe you know them already and just don't know the names. Another great one is Lay It On the Line, and I also love Spellbound and Follow Your Heart. Magic Power was a hit, but it's not my favorite. I have an aversion to songs about music.

Well, remember John's line last week about "I wouldn't have given her to you if I knew you were going to treat her like that." Just wait until you see it now!

This is for John only:

Hope the bike/walk line wasn't too much, but it was my little reference to the After Hours forum. I couldn't find a way to work in your home theater. Maybe next time. Or, maybe you should get a little model Impala to go with your collection! There's something I might have to look into myself.

Edit: Awesome! I found this on eBay:

I suppose you can paint it any color you'd like. Haven't had a model kit in a long time, so I don't remember. I'm definitely considering this as a little project.

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

Wow, what a way to end the season...what a cliffhanger. So now this frigging demon is still out there. For a while there, I thought they would finally kill it and in true Buffy fashion, move on to the next big bad next season. But this saga continues.

Yes, the truck driver definately looked like their friend.

BTW, that last scene with the guys in the car just talking and the truck crashing into them out of nowhere has become a cliche already...how many times has it been used? Already seen in the movie The Forgotten, the TV show Alias and a few more that escape me at the moment.

It's all good though. I just LOVE this show!

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

There was an example of it on another show this season as well.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Prison Break

I'm not sure how you can know whether you want to read that spoiler or not, but it's just a show title. And, it's a pretty minor development and I don't name the involved.

That's right Greg. I forgot about that one. Pretty recent too.

Re: Supernatural ongoing thread

What an great finale...And awesome news about the dvd set. I hope someone asks if the music will be intact. What a shame if it isn't.

I hope they don't kill the Dad off...It ruins the fact that Sam didn't kill him right before. I also think it takes something away from the show if he is dead. Not that he has to stay with them. I also like the idea of other "hunters" out there.

Finally, while this has to do with Supernatural. It is also a question about other movies dealing with the devil and demons......
Where the heck is God and his helpers??? Just once I would love to see a situation where say Sam & Dean are basically screwed (like last night) and some divine force helps them out. Although, it one episode the ghost of their mom helps them.
