Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

Yeah, same here - The station near me went from $2.09 to $2.39 in less than a week.

Most stations here are now in the $2.45 - $2.49 range.

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

Our mid-grade price is now actually higher than our diesel price. I haven't seen that in a very, very long time.

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

low end regular, 2.19, diesel, 2.09. the last few months here its hovered about 10¢ cheaper

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

just went to lunch and a chain here just went up another dime. so half the town is at 2.19, other half at 2.29

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

WTF? I just saw $2.55 this morning
and the 93 octane (which I need) was $2.79
post #2078 of 2203

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

$2.44 here.

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

That $2.49 price I reported this morning jumped to $2.54 on my rode home tonight.

This is getting worrisome. All the sudden $3/gallon is looming large.

And this is only a Memorial Day bump? Yikes.

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

I know! It's such a catch-22. I want the prices to suddenly decrease (indicating a Memorial day Hike), but that would also mean that we all just got JACKED these past 2 weeks.

I'd be okay with that...as long as they come back down where they were...and stay there!

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

i just hope the gas companies and oil speculators realize what raising prices like last summer will do. i fully believe parts of the recession wouldn't be as bad had gas prices not skyrocketed. now that things aren't sinking as badly and in some places look ok, a major hike in gas will just put is back to the end of last summer again.

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

Silly me. I was expecting the price to drop after the Memorial Day since the price spiked in the days leading up to the weekend. Instead, today it jumped another $0.33 to $2.65. What's up with that?

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

Prices are going up quickly here.

I know.. I know, its peak oil right?

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

$2.69 here, up 70 cents in the last month. I found a receipt in my wallet from April 26th showing that I paid $1.989 for a gallon of gas.

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

It is going up just in time for my vacation. We are driving from KY to the beaches of NC. I paid $2.47 last night. It was $1.94 22 days ago.

They're probably trying to get $$ out of those who are coming back from their Memorial Day weekend vacations.

"looks to me they are gonnna make this summer just as bad as last years, next, food and shipping will go up again"

Problem is the prices of milk, bread, etc went up with gas last year and didnt go down with when gas prices did - like they should have. Since the price hikes were due to "increased transportation costs".

So if they go up again, its really a double whammy.

About a month ago on the news, I heard they said they doubted prices would go higher than around $2.50. Once again... they were wrong.

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

OPEC has said it wants $75-80 a barrel. right now it's at $63.12. so we may still have a ways to go.

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

dime yesterday, up to 2.39, diesel is 20¢ below that.

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

$2.59 this morning.

Steve_Tk, I just read that they hope to achieve that $75-$80/barrel by end of year.

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

Its related to peak oil in this since,GLOBAL OIL PRODUCTION WAS FALLING BEHIND DEMAND.OILCORPS NEED HIGH PRICES TO INVEST IN NEW EQUIP TO KEEP UP WITH DEMAND.So if they dont invest because of prices being too low supply tightens, prices shoot up.Buuuuut prices must go up anyway to make it finaincially worth the upgrades. Its only gonna get worse in the coming years,3$ will b the new low floor.

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

Boycott! Stop buying gas! (Yeah, like that'll happen.)

Re: That's it, I'm walking. gas up 33 cents since Monday,

But if I stop buying gas, then I won't be able to make it to work.

If I'm not able to make it to work, then I won't make any money.

And if I'm not making any money, then I won't be able to afford gas!!!

It can happen if you can live within a ten minute walk from your work, your grocery store, your pharmacy, your local restaurants, your shopping mall, your park, your train station, your bus station, your college, your university, your shipping port, your sex shop...

Oh wait. I live in downtown Montreal. I'm surrounded by all that stuff!

People living in midtown Manhattan would enjoy the same benefits.

It's all a matter of where you're willing to live, and if you can find work near your home.
