My guess? They'll simply call it Batman since this one was called Batman Begins. Bearing in mind that the title for Batman Begins didn't even appear until the end of the film, right? So the director seems to be into rather minimal attention on titles.

Seriously, though, this is my #1 most anticipated sequel at the moment. So, SO many possiblities...

"Batman Strikes Back" does have a kinda nice ring to it, though, even if it's a little pulpy. "The Return of the Batman" also works, if you're borrowing Star Wars titles. "Attack of the Batman"...no so much.

I'd like a "Batman : Mask OF The Pahntasm" type title, as opposed to a clever play on words. If it has Joker as the villian, than make a refernece to the JOker crime in the movie. Makes it more literate. As much as I like Batman Strikes Again, it seems a little too similar to the previous films (Batman Forever? What the hell is that supposed to be?). Also, titleing it story based, it could allow them in theroy to play with the time line, do a "Dark Knight Returns" type film outside of the Bale continuity. Could be interesting.

I have lost sleep trying to imagine what the title of the sequel will be Trust me, you'll never guess it, and no one will even be close when it's finally announced.

Okay, I have seen that movie, but I forgot about this, because I was talking about serious onscreen portrayals of The Joker. I don't think as many people have seen the 1966 Batman as the 1989 Batman, and you can't compare Jack and Cesar. Cesar was definitely playing it hammy (as was everyone in the movie), and I don't understand how anyone can call Jack's performance hammy when he was creepy and scary for most of it. Actually, that was something that bothered me about his performance...he was too mean and sadistic. Not that I expected him to be a nice man, but I would have preferred a Joker who was more creative and playful (like Hammil's animated interpretation) while also cruel, over one who just kills people in cold blood and laughs, like Nicholson's Joker.

The Joker IS mean and sadistic; he's a sociopathic killer who disfigures his victims. Check out the original Joker appearances; he's definitely a dark, mean, murderous villain.

I don't want playful and attractive villains; I want villains that put me firmly on the hero's side.

I agree. Joker should DEFINITELY be murderous. I think the reason the Joker was so playful on the Animated Series was because its audience was also for small children. Which is why they got away with a more sadistic side of the Joker with Mask of the Phantasm and Return of the Joker where they could push him a bit.

They got away with it in Mask of the Phantasm, but almost didn't with Return of the Joker. It took a lot of bitching, but after trying to compete with a bootleg copy of the Uncut version, they finally released it.

I guess they can't really go with numbers in the title, since that'll still look awkward(Batman Begins 2?).

But I did like how Nolan put the title at the end of the movie. At the end of the movie, Bats took control of Gotham, the criminals knew or heard of him, so Batman Begins....probably sounds kinda lame to some people, but I like it.

I honestly think they should go full bore and try to adapt "The Long Halloween." You can cut out Riddler, Ivy, Catwoman and Scarecrow pretty easily (although you can have Scarecrow make an appearance) thus leaving it as simply the Harvey Dent origin story, with Carmine Falcone, and the Joker plays Batman's doppleganger, trying to both solve the crime of Holiday for their own purposes.

it'd be a loose adaptation, of course, but Goyer and Nolan are already both familiar with the book, as they both admit they took some stuff from it, and excerpts from Long Halloween will be included in the deluxe edition. I hope they do something along those lines.

Plus a movie called "Batman: The Long Halloween" would look WICKED on a movie poster.

EXCELLENT idea. TLH is a great graphic novel, and you're right: the main (or basic) story would adapt well to a film.

And yeah, "Batman: The Long Halloween" would rock on a poster.

Wasn't the original rumored title of Batman Returns, Batman - Return of the Joker or something like that. I know the video game was named that, back in the olden days of 8-bit graphics.

I don't know that WB would want to risk losing the people who don't know Batman=The Dark Knight though.

The Dark Knight Returns insinuates he has left at some point. It is fitting for the graphic novel, but not the sequel. This young Batman has not left Gotham.

TLH is a great title, and a good screenplay could be made out of it's meanderings. But it needs a healthy dose of Bruce Wayne, and it's very Bat-centric. There are good ideas in it, though. And it works well as what it is (not knocking the limited series, as I collected it).

And besides that, I really hope they actually adopt "The Dark Knight Returns" on the big screen someday. Maybe they'll do this for the Superman/Batman movie? Probably not, given Batman's age in the graphic novel, but who knows.
