Oh, God no! Not Robin Williams as "the Riddler" talk again! (And a Carrie-Anne Catwoman?)

EDIT

Oh what the heck...
Al Pacino: Penguin
Hillary Swank: Barbara Gordon

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

here are some comments from Michael Caine http://www.michaelcaine.com/Projects.php

In January I start shooting a remake of "Sleuth" with Jude Law directed by Kenneth Branagh with a very different screen play from the original by Harold Pinter. After that in March I reprise my Butler roll in the second "Batman" again directed by Christopher Noland starring Christian Bale. This one is "The Joker" and the Joker is Heath Ledger. Great casting.

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

Dark Horizons has posted interviews with the Nolans from their junket for The Prestige:

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news06/061016j.php

When asked if it was "darker," Chris Nolan replied that he doesn't think about stories that way. Whereas his brother said "Definitely darker."

No word on whether Two Face will be in the movie, despite Harvey Dent's presence.

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

So far, TDK seems really on track to me. Ledger's casting surprised me, but I have faith in Nolan. I would love - love - to see Pearce as Dent. So good to see him in 'Proposition', first thing I've seen him in since 'Time Machine.' I hope Ryan Phillippe isn't a contender for Dent, he just doesn't have a lot of weight to me.

If you all will permit a bit of shameless hucksterism, I recently posted a short Bat-film at youtube, and would love to hear what my fellow HTFers think of it:

Thanks!

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

Hugh Jackman as Harvey Dent would be good imo.

Fun stuff, Tim. Was it partially filmed in Jersey City? Looks a lot like it.

I still prefer Liev Schreiber or Clive Owen.

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

I also think that Clive Owen is a great choice for Dent/Two-Face. Jackman carries too much superhero film baggage IMO.

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

No doubt Jackman would do a great job, esp Dent-wise. But Clive Owen would be even better, his 2-Face would be truly scary without being over the top. And you woud be able to sense that potential beneath the surface of Dent...ah, the joys of fantasy casting!
Sam: It was shot in downtown Brooklyn & on the Manhattan Bridge, with the epilogue in Brooklyn & Hoboken (elevated train part does look like JC, though).
Thanks for checking it out!

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

Jackman would make a fine Harvey Dent I think. Especially once he turns into Two-Face. But I think Liev would be a little bit more suited for the role for some reason.

Either way, I can't wait.

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

I urge everyone to take the following with a grain of salt because more than likely, it's fake. According to this article, which doesn't seem all too legitimate given the language used in the quotes, Christopher Nolan won't be directing The Dark Knight. Jonathan Nolan will. It says that both Chris and Jonathan will write, but Chris won't direct. Again...take it with a grain of salt.

Los Angeles, CA

In a stunning blow to Warner Brothers, and Batman fans all over the world, Batman Begins director Christopher Nolan has confirmed that he is leaving the directorial reigns of the much anticipated sequel, The Dark Knight, in favor of doing the big screen adaptation of the television show The Prisoner. The successor to Nolan as director of The Dark Knight will be none other than his brother, Jonathan "Jonah" Nolan. Both still plan to write the screenplay, which is said to have gone through 10 drafts already.

When asked why he left, Nolan said, "Batman Begins was an immensely gratifying and huge project to work on. It was by far the most work I have ever done on a film and quite possibly the most draining. I put everything I had into it and sacrificed two years trying to bring it to the big screen. Although a success in the end, the overall process was just too much for me. I'm not used to doing these types of big budget films. I am more used to doing smaller, more independet fair like Memento. It's just too much time and effort to put into one film, and I would rather do something smaller and more prolific like The Prisoner."

At Warner Brothers, Alan Horn said that "this is a great loss to the Batman franchise, but we have faith that Chris will deliver in the script and that his brother will step up and give us a worthy sequel to Batman Begins."

When asked about anxious and worried fans, Nolan said, "All I can say is that everyone can rest assured knowing that me and my Brother, Jonah, will write the screenplay for The Dark Knight and will make it into the best thing that we have written. And everyone can have faith in Jonah that, although this will be his first time directing a movie, he will without a shadow of a doubt, surpass what I created and started in Batman Begins"

Interestingly enough, Christopher Nolan's name as been removed from the listing of The Dark Knight on IMDB.

That is false.

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

The spelling mistakes are certainly not filling me with confidence as to the legitimacy of this thing.

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

That is depressing to hear, even though I'm fairly positive it's fake. The typo of "fair" gives me hope, as does the idea that there is no way WB would let an untested director take over their newly revamped franchise. After seeing The Prestige yesterday, I was getting really excited about this.

Nathan

Way too many typos in that piece for it to be legit.

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

PR Newswire is simply a wire service for news (press) releases by companies. It does not, to my knowledge, have reporters, and it certainly doesn't have "exclusives." The whole point of PR Newswire is to get companies' spin into as many publications as possible.

I kind of feel stupid for posting it now, since it's so blatently clear that it's a fake.

That's ok. On first reading, I had this sinking feeling that it could be true. If I had seen it before you, I probably would have posted it. It was on a second reading that it became obvious that this was written by some kid with too much time on his hands. I'm glad it's fake, not having Chris Nolan back for TDK would have been depressing.

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

Damn, and I was looking forward to that adaptation of The Prisoner.

2- "You are number 6."
Prisoner- "Where am I?"
2- "The island. I am number 2. ...Why did you resign?"
Prisoner- "Who is number 1?"
2- "You are number 6."
Prisoner- "I am not a number! I am a human being!"

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

It sounds like The Prisoner will be Nolan's next film after he finishes the Dark Knight.

For just a split second, I thought that said "John Rhys-Davies".

"Joker venom...very dangerous! You go first!".

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

Looks like a few small details have come to light about The Dark Knight. Batman's suit will be a bit different but not too much. The Joker will not have suits that are made to fit him. Interesting. (Info from http://www.batman-on-film.com/batmovienews.html)

I'd still like to see Batman in a blue and gray suit if even just for a few moments on the big screen.

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

Rumored Harvey Dent / Two-Face: Jamie Foxx, Eion Bailey and Edward Norton.
(From link I used above.)

What, no Billy Dee Williams?

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

I can see Edward Norton turning in a fantastic performance as Dent/Two-Face. With Foxx, I'm sure he'd give a fine performance, but I can't see him in the role for some reason. At the end of the day, however, you could do a lot worse than either of those two.

By the way, I just watched Batman Begins again, and that film just gets better and better each time I watch it. I think I can safely say it's my number 2 favorite comic book movie behind the original Superman now.

Re: Batman Begins' sequel (Merged)

I agree, it does get better with each viewing. I watched it again about a month ago and was suprised at how much MORE I enjoy it now. And that's saying alot considering I loved it from the beginning.
