Here's a weird question: Do Sat Ready car headunits use a digital or analog singal from the add-on satellite tuners???
I had a Kenwood 969 (two year old- top of the line, predated the 24 bit Burr Brown DAC on the newer model) and I just replaced it with a Kenwood 889 (has 24 bit DAC), Using the same Sirius tuner and everything else on the system staying the same...Sirius now sounds ALOT better. Much closer to CD quality then it was with the old 969 or the 859 I had before or my home Kenwood tuner that uses the digital output. I always figured the add-on tuner was sending analog to the HU but then it shouldn't be a noticable SQ difference like I'm experiencing now??? It's so much different in SQ that my non-audiophile coworkers mentioned how much better it sounded today at lunch. The only other thing that changed besides the HU is the Sirius antenna...I got one of the new really small ones installed to replace the computer mouse sized one that I had before.
