NBC'S OFF-THE-WALL COMEDY SERIES ABOUT LIFE IN THE CUBICLE LANE

THE OFFICE: SEASON ONE

PUNCHES THE CLOCK ON DVD AUGUST 16, 2005 FROM UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOME ENTERTAINMENT

Universal City, CA, July 22, 2005 - The complete first season of The Office, the fresh and funny mockumentary-style glimpse at the hilariously dysfunctional Dunder Miffin paper supply company that will be returning for a second season to NBC this fall, is coming to DVD August 16, 2005. Based on the award-winning BBC hit, The Office is a fly-on-the-wall parody of the American workplace that Gillian Flynn at Entertainment Weekly calls "smart, biting 9-to-5 satire." The show stars Steve Carell (next seen in Universal Pictures' The 40 Year-Old Virgin and from "The Daily Show" and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy), Rainn Wilson (Sahara, "Six Feet Under"), John Krasinski (Kinsey), Jenna Fischer (Lucky 13) and B.J. Novak ("Punk'd"), as the eccentric employees at a fictional Pennsylvania office whose every quirk is captured by a documentary film crew.
The Office: Season One is executive produced by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, creators of the original British series, along with "King of the Hill" co-creator Greg Daniels, Ben Silverman ("The Restaurant," "The Biggest Loser") and Howard Klein ("King of the Hill," "Carnivàle"). The season's six hysterically funny episodes were directed by acclaimed comic filmmakers Amy Heckerling (Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Clueless), Emmy(r) nominee Ken Kwapis (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, "Malcolm in the Middle"), Greg Daniels ("King of the Hill"), Bryan Gordon ("Jack & Bobby," "Curb Your Enthusiasm") and Ken Whittingham ("Scrubs," "The Bernie Mac Show"). Featuring uproarious deleted scenes and outtakes, The Office: Season One DVD is priced at $29.98 SRP.

SYNOPSIS
In this hilarious and faster-paced adaptation of the popular British comedy series, Steve Carell is Michael Scott, the egotistical, insensitive and almost supernaturally incompetent regional manager of the Dunder Miffin paper supply company. Michael sees himself as the office funnyman, a fountain of business wisdom and his employees' cool friend. He has no clue that his staff merely tolerates his inappropriate behavior because he signs their paychecks. Michael acts as the obnoxious tour guide for an omni-present documentary crew who unflinchingly capture his many shortcomings along with Dunder Miffin's petty workplace politics, simmering romances and side-splittingly awkward moments.

I did, still sitting next to the brit version (unwatched)

Way too many TV being watched.
I'm watching about 20 different TVonDVD sets right now

purchased it today
a bit pricey for a 6 show set
hate the forced trailer at the beginning and how long it takes to get to the menu

that said the material is great even after having seen it on tv more than once
the deleted scenes are anything but fluff like on many other dvds... a lot of fantastic footage that had to be cut due to network time constraints of a 1/2 hour sitcom.
listened to two of the 4 commentaries which were nothing special but a decent addition to the set

can't wait for season 2 to hit the air

EDIT: there are actually 5 commentaries not 4
