Assassins (1995)
Maverick (1994)
Lethal Weapon 3 (1992)

The Goonies (1985)
Ladyhawke (1985)
Superman II (The Donner Cut) (1980)
Superman (1978)
The Omen (1976)

I own all listed above on DVD except The Goonies, Scrooged and Assassins. I saw all the Lethal Weapons, Maverick, Superman and The Omen at the cinema. Wasn't impressed with the badly edited reconstruction of Superman II, the Brando scenes were the sole redeeming feature. If Donner had completed his work on Superman II back in 1980 would it have been better than the Richard Lester version? Now I'm not so sure.

Rankings

1)Superman the Movie
2)The Omen
3)Lethal Weapon 2
4)Lethal Weapon 1
5)Ladyhawke
6)Lethal Weapon 4
(Jet Li takes this a notch up on 3)
7)Lethal Weapon 3
8)Superman II The Donner Cut
9)Maverick
10)Conspiracy Theory

Maybe we should let Bill post his ratings first Jim, but than he probably knows by now what movies we'd go for and won't make much difference to his ratings plan.

He did like Superman and The Omen though, so there is hope there.

Philbert (Three's a Crowd) - B-

Solid animation mesh with live action and I'm a fan of William Shallert's work in Dobie and Patty Duke. The story is typical sitcom stuff - Philbert is Shallert's cartoon creation come to life. He tries to save Shallert from getting engaged to a woman who is secretly a harpy - and much of the humor hasn't aged well.

I saw this on Looney Tunes Collection, but didn't realize it was Donner directing. Interesting idea, but not very successfully pulled off. I'd rate this a bit lower than Brook does.

Well you didn't like the Lethal Weapons either Bill so no surprises there, biggest surprise was why you'd want to pay and see this at the cinema. I'm a Dick Donner fan (or used to be) and I can happily wait for this to pop up on tv.

Jim, you said you were going to see this one, what did you think of it?
Who said I paid?

Are you doing any better at guessing my sig shots, Steve?
Nope, couldn't even begin to guess, is it from a film or um family album?

Can you guess mine?

Verrrryyyy funny Steve

It's from a film and a British one at that.

I'm guessing yours is Mr. and Mrs. Smith??

Haven't seen it yet Steve. Hopefully I'll check it out within the next couple weekends. If not there's always the eventual DVD.
Well Jim, Bill not liking it might mean it's actually quite good going by his ratings for the Lethal Weapons, Die Hards etc

No idea Bill is that kid laughing or in painful agony?

Yep mine was from Mr and Mrs Smith, seen it? A fun film to some, a NIGHTMARE TO OTHERS!

Hey, I happen to love the first and third of the Die Hard films, so there!

No idea Bill is that kid laughing or in painful agony?

Neither...call it childhood angst.

His father has just killed himself, his mother is a nut, his brother is in a relationship with the local 'vampire', all of his friends are being killed off by a group of young, leather-clad paedophiles and the only person who will listen to him is a dead human fetus which he keeps under the bed.

Childhood angst

Yes, I did see the Smiths
Instantly forgettable.

Bill your synopsis nearly defeated Google, um The Reflecting Skin?
I've heard of it but never seen it. Looks a little too weird for me.

I never cared for the Superman character in general. Timeline was a great book totally butchered for the big screen.

I saw The Goonies and the first three Lethal Weapon movies as a kid, but I don't remember them well enough to rank or rate them.

Re: FAMOUS DIRECTORS CHECKLIST SERIES - Volume #120 - The Films of RICHARD DONNER

Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) - 2/10
Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) - 4/10
Scrooged (1988) - 7/10
Lethal Weapon (1987) - 5/10
The Goonies (1985) - 3/10
Ladyhawke (1985) - 8/10
Superman (1978) - 8/10
The Omen (1976) - 6/10

Ladyhawke is one of those movies that seems SO great when I remember it, but whenever I revisit it, it's slightly disappointing. I guess they call that nostalgia, huh?
