why is home theatre forums so restrictive?

I just tried to post a comment in home theatre and got this after I hit submit:
In an effort to cut down on the number of members that just post a thread to post a URL to another site you are not allowed to post URLs to other sites until you're have at least posted 15 times.
To keep the message that you just posted use the back arrow on your browser and then remove the URL from your post. This will keep your original message intact and you won't lose its contents.

Huh??/ what is this???

they have so many restrictions now they have one that you can't post until you post 15 times in the past???

I wonder if this will get thru and on? or will will the powers to be veto it??

You can post, you just can't post a URL to stop spammers from doing "hit & run" URL advertisements. Quite a few big forums do this now.

The message you received was quite explanatory, no? It's an unfortunate consequence of earlier abuses.

You're about to get even more pissed when this thread gets relocated. Don't take it personal....

you've been here for almost six months, but only have 10 posts?

arthur - i mean this with absolutely no offense, but it's not like you are a very active poster here. so, why get so upset?

anyway, as already explained, this is to keep spammers from hitting htf with stupid ads, etc.

anyway, if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask -- we may be crazy here, but we're a good bunch. well ... most of us anyway.

Actually i made a mistake..,,
I had put an IMDB url into my post for others to link to and didn't realize that the warning I got was about that url I placed..

I thought the initial warning I got was what I posted above.

I also believe that it is against Forum policy to question forum policy in the public forum.

Yes that's right.. I really thought that HTF had brought in a new policy which was after you sign up you would post 15 times and each one wouldn't get posted till the magic #15 rolled around...

BUT,, as I hadsaid earlier it was an HTTP url site to an IMDB that informed me of this rule when I tried to link that url into a post

But We all had a good laugh now didn't we...

I don't have a url or anything like that to post I just want to know where I can go and in which forum I would find out how to get to the service menu on my JVC AV27s33 television set. I thought I posted in the right place before but I don't see my post there. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm a first timer at forums. I'm lost and confused.
