Re: Rambo IV gets the green light

just saw the trailer.......good grief, what the fuck was that? holy crap. i think i got hit in the eye by a bit of the driver when he got pasted by the .50 cal.

wow. i really hope they manage to make this work; if i can be half as pleased by this film as i was by rocky balboa, i'll consider it a success.

I call it time period. In 20 years you'll be able to spot a movie made 1999-2009 from any 48 frames of film. I don't think its overall good or bad (OK, maybe a lil' bad) its just the way things are now.

Re: Rambo IV gets the green light

Just saw that teaser for the first time...my god in heaven!

Seems old age has made John Rambo a tad cranky.

Alright, when you guys are right your right, this movie looks great so far. In fact if those greedy wussies had made Live Free or Die Hard that type of hard R we would truly be experiencing an old-school action film reemergence.

Love the line "When your pushed, killin' is as easy as breathin'."

I'd put that line in my signature lest people think i'm a complete nutcase lol.

Uh...., ok, did he punched that guy's head off? Got a clearer picture his used his knife. If this is going to be that gory, I think I might actually catch it. That was an international trailer right? Probably will be cut for the U.S.

Not a real trailer. Just sort of a preview reel. I'm not sure if the movie has a distributor yet but I think they may be using it to try and find one. It's clearly very raw even outside of content- it just looks like someone assembled a bunch of dailies and slapped together a trailer in about an hour.

Re: Rambo IV gets the green light

I am going to miss Richard Crenna, though, but i'm sure wherever he is he's talking someone's ear off about how tough Rambo is and how hell is his home.

lol! Gotta love that guy. He's going to be missed indeed with this movie. Even though it's been quite some time since he died I still hope they do some sorta memorial mention in the credits for him.

Re: Rambo IV gets the green light

They probably will have a dedication, probably at the request of Sly because Richard was such a large part of the Rambo family from the very beginning.

I have to take this moment and say how amazed I am at Sylvester Stallone lately, it just shows that with a little determination to make good films from old concepts and characters it is possible to do so, he proved it with Rocky Balboa and now he looks poised to do it again with John Rambo.

It's almost as if he sat down, deconstructed the other films in those series, found what ideas and concepts didn't really work and was then bound and determined to either fix them or leave them out entirely. I think it's safe to say he managed to harness everything that's right about these characters and films and even more amazing was able to get it on film.

I may be jumping the gun praising this film before actually seeing it but I have a very good feeling in my gut right now, Rocky Balboa and John Rambo are two examples of retro-sequel making at it's finest.

I completely agree. This is all a mini-comeback for Stallone. After his downward spiral in 90s, it's great to see him put his whole heart in the two projects closest to him and end them both right.

Re: Rambo IV gets the green light

Lionsgate has picked a release date of January 25, 2008. This film just screams Summer release... why the crappy month?

It doesn't really scream summer release to me. Most of what I've seen has a gritty, low budget feel (though I don't know what the budget actually is), plus it's obviously going to be a very hard R. I think it could easily get swept aside in the summer.

However, in January, I can see a lot more people willing to give it a chance if for no other reason than novelty factor. Seems like a smart move to me.

I had David's 'confusion' over a January release too but

does make sense.

Re: Rambo IV gets the green light

I'm crossing my fingers that it's as a good as Rocky Balboa was. I'll admit I was a critic of the new Rocky, but it I was surprisingly happy with it.

Turns out the poster was a fake. ALSO, the film has been renamed to "Rambo to Hell and Back"...

Re: Rambo IV gets the green light

One thing the film has going for it is the resurgence of interest in Burma following the standoff between the protesting munks and the governing military junta. It makes it more politically relevant than when it was shot.

Re: Rambo IV gets the green light

And they actually didn't want that originally!

Re: Rambo IV gets the green light

Well that was quick... title is back to "John Rambo" after all the complaints.

Since that trailer was so cool, I don't care if it's called Rambo Picks Flowers.

Those who are fans of Jerry Goldsmith's brilliant score to the first three will be pleased to hear this. Sounds like Brian Tyler really nailed the score...
