Don't know if I'd call myself a Cronenberg fan or not. I like most of his that I've seen, but there's only one that I love.

1. Shivers - A
2. A History of Violence - A-
3. Videodrome - B+
4. Crash - B+
5. The Fly - B+
6. Dead Ringers - B+
7. eXistenZ - B+
8. Scanners - B+
9. The Brood - B
10. Spider - B
11. Eastern Promises - B
12. Rabid - B-
13. Naked Lunch - C
(need to see again, I didn't understand it at all. I probably wouldn't find it as strange now.)

Own - 0 (waiting for a better edition of Shivers)

Would like to see M Butterfly, one of those VHS's I used to pick up a jillion times in the video store and just never rented; as well as Stereo and Crimes of the Future. I'm also certain I've seen The Dead Zone, but I can't remember it so I need to watch it again.

All that I've seen, in order of favorites:

Dead Ringers (1988) - brilliant.

Videodrome (1983) - not the first bizarre fringe genre sorta film that warped my childhood mind (that would be "Flesh for Frankenstein"), but one of the most memorable.

The Fly (1986) - big budget, big stars, still all Cronenberg.

Shivers (1975) - terribly underrated IMO, one of my most viewed Cronenberg flicks, and very accomplished for a first feature aside from some sketchy acting, particularly by the male lead (a problem that plagued many of Cronenberg's early films).

And the rest...
Spider (2002) - nearly 4 stars
Naked Lunch (1991) - likewise
eXistenZ (1999) - very good, and better everytime I see it
Crash (1996) - catch me in the right mood, and I love it...
Scanners (1981) - a bit played out thanks to the early years of HBO, but still good "mainstream" Cronenberg.
The Brood (1979) - doesn't quite work for me, but so much good stuff.

Finally...
The Dead Zone (1983) - the only Cronenberg film I've seen (only those listed here have I seen) that I have no desire to see again. Formulaic. Bland. Boring.

Spider (2002)
eXistenZ (1999)
The Dead Zone (1983)
Crash (1996)
The Fly (1986)
M. Butterfly (1993)

Seen the above, in order of preference.

I LOVE James Spader in "Crash", but not so much the movie as a whole. "Spider" was excellent. I'm looking very much forward to "A History of Violence" because of Viggo -- trailer looked intriguing.

I may have seen "Videodrome" a looooong time ago.
