Weekend Alone: What movies should I watch?

My wife and kids are going away for the weekend. I have the house to myself and I can watch any movie as loud as I want. Toss some suggestions my way please. Which ones should I watch? I live in a house, so volume isn't an issue.

Lots of porn my friend, lots of porn.

J/K...or not? Seriously, what types of movies interest you: Action Adventure/ Sci-fi/ Comedy/ Drama etc.?

How about Action/Adventure or Sci-Fi. I can watch Quiet Dramas in the other rooms whenever I want. I want to give my big screen and surround sound a workout.

Fifth Element
Last of the Mohicans
Blade
Terminator 2
Spider-Man 2
Aliens
Matrix Reloaded
Peacemaker (overlooked but solid action film)
Legend (director's cut)
Silverado
Bourne Identity/Supremacy

Just some ideas. I'm blanking out a bit on more recent films, especially action films that are both good action films and will give you the most bang for your buck on your system.

Daniel,
I would get my hands on something from the superbit family. Fifth Element superbit edition is excellent from both a sound and video standpoint. I would also recommend Desperado (superbit edition). Non superbit.....Swordfish.

NO CHICK FLICKS! Porn or movies that are loud!
D E A D W O O D !!!

Watch the first 4 episodes and just try and not watch the rest !

The Rock: a great guy flick, a solid action film, and extremely loud.

It also features the all-time best line from Sean Connery.

porn! Splatter films! exploitation!

This is your chance to watch those movies your wife would cancel sex with you for the night if she knew you watched them! The types of movies that would instantly make her eyes roll. Don't waste this opportunity my friend! You can always watch an action film, you can usually convince her to watch one in a trade off (honey, if you watch "the Rock" with me, I'll watch "A Walk to Remember", again!). But some movies, you can never convince her, and if you make her watch it : NO SEX!

Fight club is always good. Has some really loud parts, lots of violence, not much sex... but some.

PeterK, I actually dropped my kids off at school and returned home to watch Fight Club a second time just so I could turn up the volume. I ended up having to "work late" that night.

How about masters and commanders, I-Robot, LOTR...

Fatal Attraction

Master and Commander

You could have a Lord of the Rings: Extended Editions marathon.

Both(well all if you consider LOTR three movies) have great and active DTS tracks (if that is important to you), and are also great movies.

If you are also a bass freak, try Terminator 3.

Some other "this is what you get a home theater for" movies.
U-571
Spider-Man 2
The Fifth Element
Ronin
(Great car chases!)
Independence Day
The Day After Tomorrow

You can also do a search for "demo material" threads. These may include movies with a few kick-ass scenes rather than consistant sonic assaults, but should also include other good suggestions none the less.

Here's what I would watch if I had a weekend away from my kids and wife:

- Alien Quadrilogy, at least Alien & Aliens, maybe not 3 & 4
- American Pie Trilogy
- Band of Brothers
- Bourne Identity & Supremacy
- Casino/Heat/Goodfellas/Raging Bull
- Dances with Wolves Theatrical & Extended versions
- Die Hard Trilogy
- Gettysburg/Gods & Generals, over 8 hrs between them
- Red Dragon/Silence of the Lambs (Criterion)/Hannibal
- Lethal Weapons
- Mad Max Trilogy
- National Lampoons Vacation/European Vacation/Vegas Vacation
- Rambo Trilogy
- True Lies/Total Recall/Eraser (Arnold Marathon)
- Wyatt Earp/Tombstone/Unforgiven/Open Range

Of course not all of these in one weekend but just some ideas.

No one mentioned Black Hawk Down: Superbit or Saving Private Ryan (DTS)?

Other titles worth mentioning are Star Wars Episode(1,2,4,5,6), Minority Report, Matrix Trilogy, Lord of The Rings: (FoTR, TTT or RoTK), EDIT: Star Trek: First Contact, etc etc..

I own all three already. I haven't had a marathon yet, but that isn't a bad idea.

Black Hawk Down is coming from Netflix.
