DVD & speakers for denon 5700

well there is this guy at work that wants to sell me a denon AVR 5700 for around $200. what do you all you think about this should i worry about it being made in 2000 with the techs of it. 5.1 is fine with me i want to upgrade from the in the box system i am running now. so if you could suggest a good dvd player and speakers to go with it that would be cool too.

budget:
dvd $300
5 speakers $2000 (no sub)

The suggested DVD will have more to do with your particular Display than anything else.

So what Display are you using?


On speakers with no sub, look into JBL E90's perhaps.

Nice...

Maybe try to find one with a DB15 VGA style connector? Just to use that connection if for no other reason.


DVD Players are so hit and miss these days. Hard to suggestion one without a unique situation.

I'm very pleased with the Zenith DVB-318 with the old firmware loaded using component out at 1080i...

Be interesting to see what 480p players people are suggesting these days for sure.

i do have the component conection for the X1 and 1080p is what i would like if it works with my system.

Your display is ED (480p) and only psuedo HD at best...

I don't think it will even take 1080p?


It will take 1080i though....

I'm going to let the X1 guys take it from here. I am in over my head here me thinks.

Daniel, I just saw this thread. You already have a Denon 5700 thread running in Receivers/Amps. Closing this one.
