You've got PM...I'm interested in going. I will put this on my schedule. If anyone is interested, I can bring my Denon 2910 for video comparison.

Robert,

Yes, bring your Denon! That should be cool. Does anyone have any SACDs to bring? The 2910 is universal, right?

I'll PM you back,
George
I will be there. If you want I could get the prize for the screen contest....
The 2910 is indeed universal. I have some SACDs I can bring....The Dark Side of the Moon (the BEST SACD surround mix out there!), Marvin Gaye, The Police (a dismal mix....)
George,

I 'll check with Scott to see if he is interested. I am a maybe at this point. Too many family things going on to give a definitive answer at this point.

Am I eligible for the screenshot contest since I won last time ?

Didn't you win a coin toss to beat me or something?

I will also be there! The last one was a great time :-}

Hey guys,

Robert, I would like to hear that Dark Side of the Moon. I've heard so many rave reviews about it, but I don't have SACD capability right now.

Mike, what happens if you win? What if the tie-breaker is a Halo 2 head-to-head match? Well, if we get a nice turnout, we might be able to have multiple prizes.

Chris, glad you are able to make it!

Kip, I hope you and Scott can make it again.

Ok, gotta go for now! Spread the word about the meet!

Why would it matter if I won? As long as I didn't put the screens together, I wouldn't have an unfair advantage against anyone...

BTW, the condo looking went pretty well. I just got back from looking at a few more. The one I like best has got an absolutely perfect theater room...

True. But, I was more thinking along the lines of you buying yourself something instead of it feeling like a prize. However, I am more than happy to accept your offer! Thank you.

Glad to hear your condo shopping is going well. I bet you can't wait to be able to turn up your volume without worrying about the neighbors.

YGPM.

Have you heard anything from Mark? I thought when we were at his house he said that he would want to come to another one...

So far, it looks like a good turnout. As long as we don't have a repeat of the 2nd meet, I'll be happy!

If you didn't notice, I've been updating the list of attendees in the start post as I get more info!

See ya soon,
George

P.S. Mark was thinking of having a get together for The Incredibles and wanted our e-mail addresses again.
Yeah, it does look like we are going to have a good turnout.

Did you invite the audio vision guys?
I think inviting the Audio Visions guys is a good idea. Is that where you bought those Martin Logans on your HT page, George? They look absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to listen to them. I'm happy with my Onix Rockets but am always happy to learn about others' systems....I still consider myself an audio n00b....

Last comment....once you've heard the SACD version of DSOTM, you will want to run out to buy a universal player.

Well, it was kind of a joke since last meet they were invited and were supposed to attend. They were also supposed to bring some nice equipment with them. They backed out last minute in what seemed a pretty lame excuse, but they it said it would be okay if we charged $10,000 projector and then returned it the next day.

They definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. It was just like the 2nd meet, I think we had 8 confirmations, but 3 guys show.

Yes, that is where I bought my MLs. Eventually, I'll buy some more.

I'm finished with the visual portion of the screenshot contest, but I am stumped right now on the accompanying soundtrack. Well, I still have time!
George,

Scott and I are in.

I can pick up the audio visions guys on my way there

Is there going to be enought room for everyone? I count 9 people. Where are the dogs going to sit?

Don't forget to keep the remote control away from me-- remember what happened last time? :b

Oops.....

BTW, what is the screenshot contest?
Well, at the last meet George put together a bunch of different screen captures from different parts of movies. There was 25, I think. You just need to write down what movie the screen shot was taken from. Whoever got the most won a prize.

Hey people,

I am selling my Outlaw 950 pre/pro. Asking $600...will take offers!!

I bought a new Marsh Sound Design P2000t hybrid tube preamp from Audio Advisor. All of the folks over at the MUG, (Magnepan Users Group), tell me that the combination of a tube preamp and a SS amp really compliment the sound of the maggies. BTW, I got a great deal on a demo unit AA had laying around!!

I'm slowly upgrading my system to enhance my 2 channel listening enjoyment!!

I also have 3 maggie speakers for sale. The MGCC3 center, and a pair of MGMC1's. I would be happy to deliver these on 4/16/05 during George's meet!!

Geez, Al, you really want to unload that, huh? Three threads I'm subscribed to had the same post!

Kip, I'm glad that you two can make it! I'll have to make room. I might set the room up a little differently. We can play musical chairs?

I'm just happy to have a nice turnout.

Ok, now that we have more confirmations, what is everyone's opinion on food? Drinks? What do you want?!

Robert, for the contest, there are a couple of practical giveaways, and some difficult captures. If anyone gets all 25, I'll be surprised. On the other hand, if there's anyone with a score of zero, they will have to give up the HT hobby!

Well, I'm finally almost done with the actual contest. I only have a couple of voice samples to record. I did a trial run with what I had and ended up changing five shots to more difficult ones as they were way too easy. Although, even with the new shots, a guy at work scored 23!

Then I can work on the Answers, but that's the easy one to do.

Later,
George

voice samples? what is that all about?

edit: would it be possible for you to burn me a copy of that demo disc you have. the one we were watching at mark's house?

Mike, the voice samples aren't part of the contest this time. I have the background music going, but I still need to mix the narration into it. It'll be done today.

I'll burn one for you, no problem.
George,

Can you burn 2 copies ? I'll get you a replacement disk.

thanks

Kip,

Is that two copies as in Mike and you, or two additional copies?

Geo
George,

Just one copy me and one for Mike.

thanks

Kip,

No problem, but do you know what disc Mike is referring to? I can give you the one you asked me about after the last meet, or the demo disc I showed at Mark's. Or both!

Robert, I have the last screenshot contest available for online viewing. I don't have the link at the moment, but I can tell you how to get there.

Photodex.com

Click on "Online Sharing".

Enter "geocab" as the album you wish to view.

Pick "play all" to watch both the shots and the answers in order.

You will have to download and install their viewer and you'll definitely need DSL or better as the file is HUGE! Or you can just wait a week and a half.

I have one last voiceover to record and I'm all finished with the contest. I'm glad I started this early! Almost didn't make it on time.

See ya later,
George

George,

We are going to have some out of state guests the weekend of your HTF meet. Looks like I'm stuck down here!!

As you can tell, our little group down here is not very active right now. And I am getting more and more in to my 2 channel music system!!

I like movies, but I love music!! Good luck with your meet!!
