Veronica Mars on DVD?

Has anyone heard any word on Veronica Mars S1 coming on dvd? This is one show I just got hooked on. I've assumed they would be putting out a dvd of S1 but I haven't really found out anything about it.

By the way, if you haven't watched it, you definitely should try it out. I thought it'd be lame, but it actually was alot better than I expected.

The first season hasn't finished shooting yet, and as much as I love the show, a second season is looking extremely unlikely; it's generally the 6th-place show in its timeslot by a healthy margin.

Anyway, I doubt we'll hear anything about a DVD release until the season wraps up in May, and then I'm not optimistic - I don't think Warner has yet released a one-season wonder on DVD.

I was thinking the same thing as Jason... although I would love to see the show be renewed for a second season and released on dvd... I am not expecting to see it happen.

I would love to see this show on dvd. I just started watching in Jan and am hooked.

Based on Rob Thomas' comments in this recent interview over at Television Without Pity I don't think a second season is all that unlikely. I'd love a dvd release. I was afraid of music replacements, but, after reading in the interview that they work directly with Warner to find the music, I'm hoping that means that they took care of the home video clearances already.

I'd buy the show, and catch up for season 2 if they released it. I'd get into it but I have a class on Tuesday nights.

I just discovered Veronica Mars back in December and now I'm hooked too. I really hope there will be a second season and a DVD release for the show. I get the impression that critics really love the show too so there is still hope.

I started watching in Dec. and I'm hooked now. I hope there is a season 2. I need to catch up on previous episodes.

I'm hoeful it will come, Rob seems hopeful as well to a DVD. And it would really be great if there is a Season 2 to have that to go along with it.

I think is one of those shows that will do great on DVD, regardless of the ratings....so I definitely want it. I've only seen a couple of episodes, as I'm usually busy on Tuesdays, or just plain forget.

Well, I think it may go to dvd because Wonderfalls got a chance to go to dvd. And I think that Wonderfalls was much lesser known than Veronica Mars. But then again Wonderfalls fans did a really, really good job of begging. It seemed to work!

It's also different studios. Fox will put almost anything recent out on DVD, but Warner seems much more conservative so far.

Part two of Television Without Pity's Rob Thomas interview is up. Still no official word on renewal, but a good read for any Veronica Mars fan.

No DVD news to report, but, as of last nightper Television Without Pity Season 2 is a go!

Finally deciding to "de-lurk" and start commenting. This has been a wonderful show. It is smart, has fast plot turns, and Kristen Bell has a really wonderful ability to make the audience feel what she feels.

Not that this show hasn't had its share of problems. I think that it's quietly re-invented itself a few times over. But the fact that they can do that so quickly gives me great faith in the show.

I would love to see a summer release of this so that it can pick up interest for next year. This is a hard show to start watching mid-stream, because of all of the little clues through out.

I'm really hoping we get a Season 1 release of the DVD, but according to Warner, they have no plans yet.

It is a shame they don't have any plans yet... but I am thrilled to hear that they already agreed to a second season

Is it just me... or is the Veronica Mars character almost a carbon copy of the character of Chloe Sullivan on Smallville? So much to the point that if they ever spun off a series just for Chloe I think you would basically have Veronica Mars! :p)

Not that this is a bad thing... after all Chloe is my favorite character on Smallville

Well, Veronica and Chloe both owe a fair amount to Nancy Drew...

The renewal is indeed great news - hopefully this will prompt Warner Home Video to release Season 1 on DVD as a promotional tool for the second season.

You're not the only one to notice this. Here's a chat on UPN where she answers a question on the subject:

Wavefan: Kristen have you heard all the talk about your character's similarity to Chloe Sullivan from "Smallville"?
Kristen: Yes. I was actually in the running to play Chloe, which is the fun part. I think Allison Mack, who plays her, is wonderful, so I am flattered to be compared to her. Physically we are very similar and we're often up for the same roles. But she's my friend, so it's OK!

This is true!... I still need to get the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew set myself... haven't seen those since I was a kid!

Thanks for the quote... Will have to read the whole thing now! I knew I couldn't be the only one to see it :p)

It would be kind of "funny" if it were Duncan after all, but I think just too sad if it were Keith.

Is anyone going to watch Showtime's "Reefer Madness," in which Kristen Bell has a part? I don't get that station, but I'd be interested to hear her do more singing.
