Cool link Louie.
There's a ton of cool stuff on that website. In fact, if you follow the Don Post Life-Size statues link, there's pictues of the actual Boba Fett I purchased. It used to belong to a gentleman named Todd and he submitted pics to that website after he bought it a few years ago. I kinda feel like my Boba was already a celebrity before I got him. :b
post #273 of 485
Brent,

I feel a little the same. My last Vader helmet is on there, as I bought it from "KL."

John's original helmet, and mine, isn't on that webpage, as the first one Don Post made was really disigned for Halloween type wear.

Here is a link that, I believe is the helmet that Don Post used to make that got past on to Rubie's (like the more deluxe version).

John, is this it?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=7535968982

You'll notice that the dome and facial features are significantly different from the helmets that are featured on the page Louie A included a link to.

I would keep and cherish what you have, but restoration is probably not going to be an option.

Best regards,

Mark

Mark,

I know you're a big Vader collector so I just thought I'd let you know that I got my Medicom 12" Vader figure in the mail today. I must say that it's quite impressive. The only problem I have with it is that at 12" it looks a little small compared to some of the other figures in my collection. If they would have made this figure 14" or even just 13" it would be absolutely perfect, but even despite the small scale I must say it's very nice. The attention to detail is amazing and it blows away anything Hasbro or Kenner has ever done. Do you have one or do you plan on picking it up?

At 4:30 this morning I finally finished the Star Destroyer. I'll host pics as soon as I can. BTW, some nice links. I don't have room in my apartment for a statue.

Hey Brent,

I was SERIOUSLY tempted to pick it up, but with so much coming I actually had to limit even what Vader items I bought.

I just pre-ordered the Code 3 Collectables' Darth Vader's TIE Fighter, which, aside from Vader's helmet in November, is the most anticipated item for me. It is $325, plus if it is pre-ordered now (through Code 3) they are offering a free acrylic case!

The best part is that they are doing monthly payments of $65 each starting when the item ships, not now, meaning that in January, they will ship DV's TIE and just charge my credit card the first of five $65 payments.

All this Vader stuff is depleting all my disposable income.

If the Medicom Vader is still out there in March '06 (I still find the first Koto Vader on eBay selling for what I paid for it when it was just released.), then I will pick it up. Otherwise I will have to content myself with the helmet, SideShow, Koto, and GG Vader's, plus now, my first (and hopefully only) Code 3 TIE fighter.

Still, if you take some good photos of your Medicom Vader, please share with us!

Regards,

Mark

And here's a pic of the newest modification to my life-size Vader. I replaced the crappy plastic lightsaber with a Master Replicas ESB full-scale saber. I think it looks much better this way:

That does look better Brent. NICE!

Thanks, Louie. I always thought that damn plastic saber attatched to his belt was the weakest part of the statue and I finally decided it was time to swap that piece of junk out with a MR saber. I think really completes the whole display.

Just think, sometime next year you'll be able to swap the Boba blaster too with one from MR.

EDIT:

Almost forgot. Here is an updated pic from RS on the upcoming GG EPIII Yoda statue -

Louie,

You really should get a job in promotions. I NEVER would have known about Code 3's Darth Vader TIE Fighter without your post here. Futhermore, I probably would've missed the MR Darth Vader helmet had you not made that comment which launched this thread in the first place.

I'm broke because of you. Happy, but broke.

Seems like I've always been good at helping collector's spend money. Yeah, I told my wife that if I ever decided to work again, it was going to be for Code 3, MR, GG, or Sideshow. Working for any one of them would be awesome, and I'd gladly do it just to get paid with product.
Louie,

Unfortunately I can't blame you for all the money I've spent on Star Wars collectibles. I can only blame myself. I bought my first figure in 1977(Darth Vader) and have basically been a SW nut ever since. I took a long period off from collecting as I went through high school and college, but got back into it in 1999 with all the hype surrounding TPM(that's when I bought the life-size Vader and Maul statues). I really got back into it hardcore after C3 this year when I discovered all the cool things that I didn't know existed before seeing them at that show. The last 4 months have been VERY expensive for me(especially considering the life-size Fett purchase) and I really need to take it easy for a while. I have the Sideshow Vader pre-ordered and I want to pick up the new Koto Vader, but other than that I think I'm pretty much done for awhile. Of course I say that now, but I'm sure something else will come along to make me spend more money.

LOL! Famous last words. Yeah, my parents still have some of my SW toys, from when I was five, in storage. I'll need to go through the boxes some day. I never did collect much, but I always like watching the OT on a good system at home which is the reason I got into HT. It wasn't until TPM that I really fell in love with Star Wars though. Man, I saw that around 23 times in the theater. The rest, like my money, is history.
I went through a lot of my old vintage toys recently and decided that I need to start selling some off some of the old collection. I just put a loose 12" Boba Fett figure(without the box) up for auction on eBay the other day and ended up getting $115 for it. Now I need to decide what other stuff I want to get rid of and see if I can turn any of it into cash. I've turned the corner and I need to concentrate on making money now instead of spending it.

Not sure if everyone has heard about this, but here is the email MR CS Member's were sent regarding the new Vader helmet:

Darth Vader Studio Scale Helmet Revealed!!!
*
You've been anticipating this bad boy all year and now the wait is finally over as Master Replicas proudly reveals our Darth Vader Studio Scale Helmet from Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

Working in partnership with the talented folks at Lucasfilm Ltd., Master Replicas was provided with the actual helmet molds created for Episode III. We pulled our master casts from these molds, guaranteeing your Darth Vader Studio Scale Helmet to be the ultimate replica.
Continuing our famed reputation for detail and authenticity, even the interior of the helmet is an exact copy of the one worn by Hayden Christensen, right down to the suede covered foam padding that keeps it nice and snug on your head. If your head's the same size as Hayden's that is… (Yes, it's wearable).

Constructed from sturdy fiberglass, the helmet features a high gloss black paint finish, smoke colored lenses, machine metal details, a leather lined interior with suede-covered foam padding, and a fully integrated strapping system to keep you on the path of the Dark Side.
The Darth Vader Helmet comes in three separate pieces: Dome, Face Plate, and Rear Neck Collar. Each piece carefully fits together to bring your favorite Sith to life. It also comes with an attractive display stand should you not wish to wear it on a daily basis. If you have ever wanted to own a replica Darth Vader Helmet, this is the one to have. It just doesn't come any better than this.

So, slip it on, take a few deep, booming breaths, a few faltering footsteps, and scare the bejeezus out of Darth Sidious. Go on, we dare you.

Louie,

Thanks for posting the announcement!

December/January...hmmm, I'd originally thought it would be November, but this is good news to my wallet, nonetheless...Frankly, I can wait, so long as they get it right, which it sounds like they are.

While I can see the signature being cool, since I am planning on creating a full-scale Vader, I am not dying to get a signature plate: I'd be nice, but nothing (honestly) that I am going to miss having.

Thanks again!

Mark

I finally got some MR Force FX sabers.
Now comes the decision... Jedi or Sith

Question: What is the Force FX stand like? Has anyone mouted theirs to a wall? If so, how?

Thanks

Mark: I'm not into sigs, so I'll be passing on the sig versions. To be honest, I'm thinking on passing on this piece all together and just waiting for SS to make a 1:1 Vader bust. Still not really sure what I'm going to do.

Tim M.: Great shot man. LOVE IT!

Mark H: I don't think you can wall mount the stands that come with the FX sabers; but, Philip Wise over at Rebelscum has had a few wall racks made to hold a few of the FX sabers. If you are interested, shoot him an email.

Also, I know there are some Koto collector's here, and in case you haven't heard, SWS has the EPIII ROTS Shocktrooper on their site. This one is limited to only 1000 so hurry up and get one while you can.
Louie,

I totally understand your POV on the MR DV Helmet.
IF I didn't already own the chest armour, box, belt,
and cape, I would be tempted to play wait and see with
SS's 1:1 line, too.

I ended up ordering it through my dealer. I figured if SS does come out with a DV 1:1 bust, it will be OT Vader; so, I'm going to go ahead and get the ROTS helmet. If SS comes out with a ROTS 1:1 Vader bust though, the MR helmet will be hitting ebay.
Well,
IF SS does do an original trilogy bust, and it is of ESB Vader, then I will be ALL over it, but I won't sell my ROTS one. Funny, as much as I like the new helmet, I miss the gun-metal grey vs solid black areas on the face. I think the all black looks "more youthful," as does the slightly smaller scale of the helmet compared to the one Prowse and the other stunt men wore in the original trilogy, and I think Vader appearence was at its peak in ESB.

Definitely, most menacing.

I take it, they are similar to the ones that come with the non-Force FX sabers?

How do all you Force-FX owners display yours??

Yup! Always looking for a fix. I agree though. Vader was at his peak in ESB. Seeing his birth was so awesome and tragic at the same time. Now, for those who are willing to put on a $900+ helmet, they don't have to wonder how awesome it must have been for Hayden to wear the helmet. Now they'll know. Me, I'll put in an acrylic case and just stare at it in amazement with my jaw on the floor and drool rolling down my chin. LOL!
I am strongly trying to resist this new MR Vader helmet as I'm still recovering from the hit my wallet took with that life-size Boba Fett purchase. On top of that I still have to fork out the dough for my pre-ordered Sideshow Vader when it becomes available and also possibly that new Koto Shock Trooper statue. There's also the new Koto #2 Vader that I just ordered along with a ton of new SW books coming out in September/October(The Prequel Chronicles book, Ultimate Visual Guide, Dressing a Galaxy, etc). I'd really like to get this new helmet, but I'm trying to convince myself that I don't really need it since I already have the life-size Vader anyway.

I ordered the Ultimate Visual Guide also. Not sure if I'll order any of the others though.

Anyone here get the MR ROTS Vader saber?
