Why the forced wait looking at forum sponsors before the forum loads?

Thread Starter
Since that doesn't happen at any other forum I can think of... out of the dozens I'm a member of and the hundres I've stumbled across over the years... I can't believe that is an accident.

Is this a thinly veiled advertising booster, or did I just miss the public announcement proclaiming as much?

None of both. There appears to be a slightly increased time for the server to compile all threads on some of the pages. That's all. No hidden evil schemes or wicked intentions.

On that note, I'd just like to thank all involved for not cluttering this forum with pop-ups and flash ads. The banner and text ads by google, as a contrast, are non-intrusive and a more than worthwhile compromise for the great service being provided.

I second Cees's answer.

Adam, we will not be putting up any obtrusive
advertising in the near future. We don't like
it!

However, if our members keep using ad blockers
and our advertisers penalize us for it, we may
have to seek other options.
