Denon 3805 vs Yamaha DSP-A1

Thread Starter
I have a 5-year old Yamaha DSP-A1 and am thinking of upgrading it to a Denon 3805. Does anybody have experience with these 2 units? Will I notice a significant improvement?

I'm concerned about "downgrading" from the Yamaha's 150W per channel to the Denon's 120W per channel, though I seldom listen at reference volumes.

(I'm using a Denon 2900 DVD player)

Thanks,

John

I have both. I bought the 3805 last June after reading all the reviews and good press it got. My honest opinion is that if the 3805 has a feature you want that the DSP-A1 doesn't then it would be worthwhile but in my opinion the DSP-A1 sounds "slightly" better in my system. With that said the difference is so slight that I am using the 3805 in my main system and moved the DSP-A1 to the living room where it's abilities go mostly to waste. I use Boston VR-M series speakers in both systems.
